  1. I am still converting my TK into a TK Commander before I submit for status, I kind of hit a road block on painting the back piece. I suppose I could have submitted for a number before converting, but I want it to all happen at once. Maybe even elite status too.
  2. I have fixed the chest plate. All that is left for painting is the back piece, boots and I am waiting for a replacement ab button plate and ears from AP, then the AB will be painted and I will be SOOOO close to ready to register for a TK, be a commander and shoot for elite once I have my ROTJ edges and weathering down.
  3. Actually I used Valspar Plastic paint that I got from Home Depot. The first coat definintely didn't look like it was going to hold but I waited 10 mins before a second and then 15 for a 3rd and let it sit over night, worked like a charm. Now I have to figure out how to weather my armor, if you have any tips.
  4. Hurray! Your armor is done! I am still working on mine.
  5. And now for the 90% completed MRCE mod converted to Commander. All that is left for this piece is to repaint the teeth and to weather the white parts.
  6. UPDATE: I spelled Pics wrong, if the title can be fixed for me it would be very appreciated. I had discovered a very unwelcomed crack on the bottom right side of my chest plate and panicked until I remembered what happens when you add Super glue to a Piece of T-Shirt.... CEMENT. Step one, find crack. Step two, Super glue crack. Step three, stick small piece of T-shirt on super before it dries on the underside of your armor. Step four, soak piece of T-shirt with more super glue. Results: strongest part of your armor. Pics: As you can see, you can't even see that crack from the outside anymore. Not the nicest thing to look at but it is on the inside of your armor so there is no issue.
  7. Also I have begun the paint job on the helmet now that I have the teeth filed out to the desired size. First, pictures of the pre-paint job while I debate if this is ready for painting or if the tape off needs to be adjusted.
  8. As you can see after a very late night, an attempt to tape off my chest plate and paint it has presented my first mistake on this suit. Luckily this can be rectified within minutes but I feel like sharing my goof up before I proceed.
  9. I think I am going to go for an SR Props E-11 because it is available now and I know it will be more satisfying to have completed the construction myself. Now if anyone knows how I can get my hands on a BlasterCore kit. Images compliments of SR Props and zZero
  10. I am exploring the many options for an ANH E-11 blaster and have been balancing out the pros and cons of each options to get the most accurate, best price and availability. My question is in regards to the Completele Resin E-11 Kit. Is it better then a Hasbro Resin Kit, considering that the Hasbro is too short and looks like a toy.
  11. It is really hard to say if it is worth it when you are new to the whole thing and on a budget like I was and still am. I for example started wtih an FX kit and to be honest, even though it can be a mistake to buy armor on ebay, considering the price and the movie accuracy of this suit, I personally would have preferred to pick this kit up as a starter kit over the inaccurate FX kit that I have. I am not aguru on all of this yet and if I had the money and the resources when I started this wonderful hobby I would have LOVED to get my hands on some TM armor, but as a beginner and on a budget, it is safe to start with an FX kit as an introduction to everything. One last note, even now if I had the extra cash I would probably pick it up and if it was a dissapointment or week plastic, I would construct it for display or something.
  12. I am also rockin' an FX with an MRCE bucket. I took the plunge on the ears and the brow, I just need to get a small enough file to fix the mouth. I was chicken for a while too but once I got started and was patient and slow with my work, it isn't as bad as you would think. Although I am converting to a TK Commander.
  13. This looks fantastic, keep up the good work, I can't wait to see the finished product : ) Be sure to post a progression post for this suit!
  14. As promised I have updates. It is coming a long bit by bit. Now keep in mind that this is pre weathering, just the paint has been applied and scratched, weathering on the whole suit will be done once I get my blue on. Now before I continue, the stripes on the arms are thicker then depicted in my photoshopped post depicting the accurate Commander paint job, reason being is that my reference shots are actually slightly wrong in regards to the thickness of the stripes on the arms. Below is a shot showing that the thickness of the stripes on the arms seem to be in direct relation to the stripes on the chest and back piece. Up next, the chest and back pieces.
  15. Well this time it was some seriously lame human error, I wasn't looking while I was drilling away because someone asked me a question and I didn't stop drilling when I looked up to respond, ha ha. OTher then that if you do it right, it is very easy. That and after doing as much research as I have, I don't like the MRCE ears at all anymore haha.
  16. At first when I posted this, but as of last night when I was removing the ears to make them smaller.... I accidentally drilled straight through the right ear : ( But that is ok because i wanted to put different ears on it anyway. I have already contacted John Danter, he is on holiday for a few weeks and can help me out when he gets back. Now I just need to find someone who can sell me a new AB Button plate so I can turn it upside down. And in regards to Chuck Taylors, they are the only thing I wear, if I could I would get white on white High Tops and wear that with my TK lolz. I agree, now I just need to find a good How To weathering so I can do that right.
  17. I have begun my TK Commander build and I am going to shoot for EIB status on this. Granted it is from an FX kit so it won't be perfect, and it has presented some challenges. For example, I now need to find someone who can sell me the following: 1. Replacement ears for my MRCE 2. AB Button plate so that I can reverse it ROTJ style. Things left to complete: 1. Chest painting 2. AB paint - may wait to find a replacement AB Button plate 3. Back painting 4. MRCE tear down, full mod, ears, 4th tooth, all teeth widening, mesh behind teeth, brow, decals and final Commander paint job. 5. Oh yes and I still need boots. I used 3 coats of plastic bonding paint from Lowe's before I battle damaged the paint. Onto the build progress Bells, Knee amo, Thigh and calf together. Bells Thigh Knee amo Calf Later today I will finish my biceps and begin the chest and back. I have already started my MRCE tear down (it is a LOT more work then I thought it would be).
  18. This is wonderful! I love the kit and I love the crisp photo progress. A must for everyone. Keep up the good work, I will be watching this thread closely.
  19. Angry Fiancé destroys Sideshow trooper because he is "obsessed". !?!?!?! Full video right here.
  20. Yeah there was some dude rockin' a cheep cloth and thin plastic suite he probably picked up from WallyWorld. It looked silly.
  21. Haha yeah, I was pretty surprised to be in 2nd place, but you gotta admit, his Venom costume was pretty cool.... Still who beats white armour! Oh yes, and I have no idea what that silver thing/guy in the background is at all haha.
  22. I know this isn't an actual troop buuuuut. Last night at my local night club was Halloween in July! What a perfect opportunity for me to make a public debut of my incomplete ANH TK. (missing boots, gun, neckseal and the correct buttons) But regardless it was a great oportunity to have a lot of fun in my TK, that and there was a costume competition. It pains me to admit this but I won SECOND PLACE! WTF! How could a TK lose against 50$ costumes from a year round costume shop! Well as it is that my good friend Shawn Gordon AKA SL-6942 (Darth maul) of the Alpine Garrison is an amazing airbrush and makeup artist and one of my best friends took it upon himself to call upon Shawn to out do me and went as Venom! As fun and amazing as it was, I am totally fine with him winning. It was great.
  23. Ouch! What a very unpleasant list of problems. The most insulting is being questioned as a Rubies suit! Personally I think you did an amazing job on this and it saddens me to hear it wasn't the greatest public debut. In regards to converting it to the TK Commander, I am very excited to watch you progress every step of the way! Good luck : )
  24. I am at a near loss for words on this, the edge trim looks great! I imagine that will also be a requirement for the TK Commander Elite Status.
