  1. Each armour has it's own unique look and features even though they are all Stormtrooper. Liking them to cars as Joey says - if you line up 10 different brands of white cars, all with four wheels and four doors, you soon spot the differences.
  2. Looking forward to seeing that when they release it.
  3. I know, but I don't think that should be the case. I think you should only have the extra rivets if you are replicating Han's or Luke's armour
  4. That is not entirely true. Only Han and Luke have the extra rivets holding their holsters to their belts. All the other troopers wearing helmets have the standard two rivets.
  5. Yes it is a hero helmet. They can be seen in several scenes throughout the film.
  6. Your screws don't necessarily have to be on the return edges as Germain says. The main thing is to have them in the correct locations.
  7. It's cast from a TE2 or TE2 variant. Looks to be thin HIPS or Styrene to me.
  8. A few more... -----------
  9. ------------- Finally got them to load but had to use BBCode Mode like I do on the MEPD. Anyone know what is wrong?
  10. 8mm caps with 6mm shanks. I just spent quite a while searching through my photos to show the sizes and now the forum won't let me add photos!
  11. I do it the opposite way to Vern. I line up the elbow first and then trim the wrist since there is supposed to be no return edge there to govern how long or short the forearm can be.
  12. Why do they need to be stronger? There is no stress put on any of the parts. They are just clamshell parts hanging on your body. You would have to physically pry them apart once they are glued together. I just don't get it
  13. Why would anyone bother putting inner joining strips on an accurate build? The whole idea of being accurate is to imitate the original screen used costumes so adding the inner strips would make your armour inaccurate. In all my years I have never added inner strips as there really is no need for them. If you want to add them, fine. But they are not necessary. I think people worry too much about the armour not holding up if they only use the outer joining strips but have faith in them and they will last a lifetime.
  14. Have you glued the snap tab inside the back plate?
  15. That would be okay if everyone wanted the same things from their armour. Not everyone wants to be a pristine trooper to look good for the public. I am finding that more and more people are going for screen accurate builds regardless of how long their armour will stay looking good. We know the original suits got beat up during filming, but the actors did not care about the armour they wore unlike 501st members. Everyone has their own idea of how a trooper should look and how it should be worn, which is fine. I just think you are being to quick to dismiss the original methods because of someone's inability to make an accurate set up. Like I said earlier, all my belts have these rivets and they hold up just fine so they do work very well.
  16. I use the single capped rivets on every suit I build I have never had anyone complain about them not holding the ammo belt on. It must simply be down to how you installed them.
  17. Two things spring to mind why your belt did not hold using the correct method. 1. You made the holes in your canvas belt too big. 2. You laid the belt out flat when you marked the holes for the rivets. Did you do one or both of these to result in your belt failure?
  18. Awesome work, Alex. Your attention to detail is phenomenal. Looks fantastic! Great job
  19. Yes we are talking about the same screws. I realise not every armour would have them in exactly the same spot, but I think yours are too far inwards. It doesn't help that the RS brackets are not the same size as the originals so that causes problems. The chest brackets on the original armour are wider than the rest so they should be roughly 20mm from the end of the chest plate and the abdomen 25mm. These measurements are not exact but should help for future reference, especially if you have correctly sized brackets.
  20. I would say more like 20mm max. See how close the abdomen bracket is to the end of the plate? Almost in line with the rivet. I am sure this will not be a problem for you but hopefully others will not follow your lead as many do. If nothing is pointed out then no one ever learns the right way to build accurate armour
  21. Your brackets should really be much closer to the ends of the chest and abdomen. I have noticed a lot of builds lately that are putting them in the same places you are and it is not right. See the original RS armour bracket placements for future reference.
  22. You might want to make it a bit looser. It is making your face look all blurry
