  1. More pics.. when i was playing the TFU, the Commander just stopped still as if he was frozen, not good for game play admittedly but it enabled me to get some nicer close up shots. I have more somewhere...
  2. that they left the lower back plate unpainted on the stormtrooper commander as a skin error? It's still a possibility and certainly needs to be taken into consideration.
  3. Nice work on your costume. Well done.
  4. I don't have to justify it, I've used a visual reference as I said.
  5. Wow the detail is really good, it's going to look nice once it's finished Rick
  6. Actually there is a list of programing glitches in TFU so it's possible the character not having a painted lower back plate is one of them. The figure was based on the artwork of the stormtrooper commander for the game and was the best visual reference at the time. If the game was out at that stage I would've probably used that. Why does the fact that it was a Hasbro figure make a difference?
  7. Assuming the game is accurate. The fact that the lower back plate in the game is free from markings suggests that they have made an error with the skin. It appears on every other reference. It's reminiscent of the first battle front game, where the scouts are running around without knee armour, clearly it should have been included in the game. My costume's paint scheme is modelled on the hasbro figure. I painted it in September last year for a Force Unleashed promo. The Figure was only 1 of 3 visual references available to me at the time. The other two were figures which weren't as detailed. It is painted traditional Royal Blue, RGB (0, 35, 102), which is a close match to the paint used on the figure, while I don't don't know for sure, the Duplicolor Royal Blue seems to be much lighter. As mentioned earlier, 501st approval for the Stormtrooper Commander should be based the accurate representation of the reference you have chosen, whether that reference be the SSC, the hasbro or the game reference.
  8. I trimmed 8mm from the brow then sanded and filled the dimple.
  9. Where's the two stripes on the upper right leg?
  10. Cheers Terry. I took it out for it's very first outing last sunday morning for a very cold and very wet 5km fun run. -----------
  11. I was trying to get the height of the brow similar to the game render below. I don't think there's that much difference between the two. ------------
  12. I agree, it makes the difference. The only trouble is the ears are made of hips, I've already noticed some little cracks appearing. Meh.
  13. I used the medical shears to cut most of the brow, I then used a dremel with a sander attachment to do the rest. it was really easy.
  14. That was my original post...need to get that user name deleted. Cheers. The helmet was taken back to the raw plastic, primed then undercoated. I then sprayed it with an aluminum coloured paint. I then used toothpaste (the gel kind) to mask the areas I wanted damaged and then coloured it with the gloss white. Once the paint was dry, I just scraped of the toothpaste...I now have paint chips
  15. Wow, looks fantastic. You did a great job. Rick
  16. How did you prepare and paint the boots? they look good.
  17. I'd be interested to see the render...
  18. Has a decision been made on which reference image/s we are using for the base of the paint scheme?-------- Not forgetting the game screen caps We need to decide on the dimensions of the striping, what colour blue is to be used and also what amount of weathering, if any, is required. Rick
  19. I've been able to get some screen shots from the game, unfortunately they aren't all that clear. (click the thumbnails to make the pics larger). Notice that the hands are all white, (I wonder whether they were forgotten about, like in the first Battlefront game where the TB didn't have knee armor) Also the back armor does not have any blue on it unlike the figure. And the stripes over the boots, there's only one photo of them and they appear to go right over the front the boot to the sole, again unlike the the figure. Rick
  20. understood, I 'll get those pics this weekend all going well.
  21. Here's another shot of the costume from last weekend, I will have some more pics after this coming weekend
  22. Well, as soon as I get a chance i'll put some more pics up, showing the back (which was a real pain in the butt to paint, i don't mind tellin' ya' lol) and the boots, close ups of the bucket and other areas of interest. I would like to see some screen caps of the game as well. I've based the paint scheme on what I've seen in the different pictures of the figure and the art work on the figure's card. The paint color and battle damage are 'based' on the figure as well. My concern is that the game's screen caps may have something slightly different and may result in another paint job, particularly if the paint is a lighter blue as opposed to the royal blue I used. I guess that's the risk you take when decide not to wait for the game to come out before you start your project. Oh well no guts no glory right? Rick
  23. Just another couple of shots of the armor at home , one showing the paint scheme on the right leg not really seen in the pics posted before. The pics are from my phone and are a little washed out. Rick
  24. Work in progress, Mod's feel free to move this post if it's in the wrong place. Some of the the Mighty REDBACK SQUAD participating in a 10km fun run (walk) and me with my FSC WIP. It's very hard to do due to the lack of reference pics... But I've painted mine royal blue with some battle damage. Ignore the runners , drop leg pouch and camel back...that was just to help me lol We've got the Force Unleashed promo this weekend and ...well... someone had to do it right? Oh the last pic, the one with the wonder woman clones.....we were in a costume competition after the race and they awarded the $500 dollar first prize to the inflatey shark costumes....it was rigged I tells ya Rick
