  1. Those are shots of my suit! So my biceps and forearms are biting. so I have to break and shim them to get rid of the pinches. Since I'm doing this, it means I'll need to repaint anyhow. So I can correct my arm lines, and can probably get the calf line and back correct in the process too. Look for updated pics soon. Stickmonkey
  2. Yes. But maybe not for TKC EIB standards. It is exactly as mine was painted and I was accepted with no changes.
  3. Congratulations on that. It looks great, there. I'm glad I could be of some help, and sorry we didn't have the proper frame of mind for the CRL, or I think you could have hit EIB on your first shot (darn unpainted in game butt plate)...aside from the helmet... ha whatever. You should be proud its a fine set of armor.
  4. It's pretty common conception that the TKCs were old clones still around at the time of the stormtroopers. More than one of the books out make mention of that.
  5. I've said it before, but Krylon True Blue over Krylon Navy is a much better match to the game coloring than the Dupicolor Royal Blue. Are we suggesting Duplicolor to be consistent with the 501st Clones?
  6. My point was not that the other sources are right...it's that they weren't wrong. The character as a concept may have been introduced in the game, but we have books, graphic novels, toys, etc. all as additional references. I just didn't think all of those should be thrown out. thru my entire build and legion approval, I made it very clear it was based on the sideshow pattern, knowing it differed from the game versions. it is what it is and it was approved as such. shrug.
  7. From the new reference material, it looks like my arm stripes and butt plate are incorrect, but the rest of my paint is correct to th game. The unfortunate part is with all the effort put into weathering, I doubt I'll go back to correct them. The public at large won't know...and likely wont know the character anyhow. And I have other more canon costumes I've moved on to to get right... In the end, it's whether you are happy with your personal costume. If so, then great. If it's good enough for the 501st all the better.
  8. Meh. I'm not trying to be difficult here. I really dont care. To me this is a clipping issue in the image...clipping into the forcefield or not it looks like the bells are missing and the bicep is low on the left arm. I'm not planning to try to get EIB with a EU costume anyhow, and I think having an EIB standard for a minor EU game character is a bit silly, personally. This was just meant to be a fun costume alternative for me. I'm not joining any holy wars for it. You guys do what you want then. I was trying to offer my opinion on this, not solicit personal attacks.
  9. This is what I'm talking about. This happens all the time still in modern games. Hell, LFL couldn't avoid clipping problems in EIII with the GM scene. So I do believe we have to do best approximation in some cases. After my armor was approved and later weathered, I realized I have the blue stripe continued on my buttplate...similar to the ab plate. This is not conon to the game, but I have other projects ongoing now and haven't decided to fix it for now... --------------- In this image the shoulder bells are missing and one bicep looks like it slid down to the forearm. So does that mean bells are optional? Of course not, there is clearly an intent for them to be there. But the game engine failed in this moment. That's really all I was commenting on. I wouldn't make the CRL so restrictive to exclude additional members based on something like the gg bust or the sideshow toy. Those are much clearer references, even with their inaccuracies, than most of the screen captures. For that matter, My weathering included a bloody ewok print...ewoks did not appear in the game, nor have I ever seen blood splatter as acceptable other than Sev...which was what I put mine on as a homage for.
  10. I appreciate the warning, but I was approved in March with my TKC and based all the striping off the sideshow toy model. When looking to the video game as reference, you have to remember the digital models stretch and shift based on movement and in the various versions of the game there are inconsistencies in the skins because they were developed by different companies. I dont find video game captures accurate for very much as a rule. Now I did see we got an original rendering as reference, and it is a much better source to work from for now.
  11. I am approved. And was approved pre-weathering. My set is ANH. So as far as I know ANH is fine.
  12. The sideshowtoy shots and at least one in game reference shot show 3 stripes on the bicep. 2 on the forearm.
  13. Looks like Gentle Giant is doing a bust as well. White hand plates...
  14. I put up a detailed post on the show off thread, should give you all the detail you need.
  15. I have been approved as a TK Officer. -------- My only deviation o the CRL is the type of paint I used. But as you can see with weathering, it really changes, so it's more difficult to tell any difference with heavy weathering. -------- More shots can be seen ---------- I still haven't had a chance to suit up with the weathering done and get some shots taken.
  16. nothing more than blue painters tape. It took many little pieces to get the curve over the top of the foot. I used the width of the tape as a guide for the front stripe, and then the back strip looked to me to widen near the sole in the sideshow 12" I was using as reference, so I had to eyeball that. once everything was taped up tight I just used the same krylon navy blotches with true blue over it I used on the rest of the armor...no other prep on the shoes. I figured I was planning to weather anyway so if it didn't hold I'd be fine...it seems to be just fine. The paint did not harden so much it just flakes off at all. Of course, I did use some very thin coats. It covers well, so even a thin coat looked good. BTW, those are CABoots TK boots. (god I hate how they smell)
  17. some additional shots pre-weathering. I'll post some weathered shots this weekend after our Friday event. ----------
  18. These Hybrids are also in the 360 version, not just the PS2 version. At least the model is. You only see them in the prolog when playing as Vader.
  19. I left mine black as both the card back and the sideshow figure had black buttons. I'll be finishing up the weathering this wee as we havea Relay for Life Event Friday I plan to be in it for. So I should have a lot more photos from that event to post up. I'll try to get someone to do a thorough round about to get all the angles. I do want to point out that I did deviate from the Duplicolor paint that was specified in the CRL. I used the Krylon Navy blotched under a coat of True Blue. I think this came out very close to the colors depicted in the game, and you should be able to see it a bit better once I have the wole kit weathered. Here's hoping the week stays a nice as they say it will so I can finish it up.
  20. I'm in the process of weathering my armor now. I was waiting on a cloth belt and flat lenses to finish it up. Just FYI, I did not use the duplicolor colors. this kit started out as a Black FX kit. I did a Krylon gray primer base on all the parts and then built up the white with Krylon Semi-gloss White. the frown and gray's are Krylon gloss gray. once everything had a nice solid base of white, I masked the pattern with tape and liquid mask as needed and did a really light spray of Krylon Navy Blue, blotching it up in some areas purposefully to give a better undertone. Once that single pass of navy was done I did a single top coat of Krylon True Blue, making sure to keep the coat complete and even. Everything has a sealer on it now. My weathering is going to consist of some water based acrylics for dirt, blast marks, etc. and then some knocking off of the blue back to the white undercoat with decking screws, steel wool, and probably some slides across the driveway concrete. Some areas, the white will be knocked back to the gray primer or black bare plastic. when I'm happy with it all I'll reseal it.
  21. The back looks like the front. The best reference is the Sideshow Toys version. It's fairly accurate to the game shots. And as far as FX helmets...hey, we all started somewhere...
  22. Games been out a while now, no activity on the thread here. I've started my own, but did not see the CRL until now. I'm using the Sideshow toy 12" shots as reference for painting. Unfortunately not seeing the CRL meant I did not use the Duplicolor Royal Blue. I used a couple layers of Krylon True Navy as a base, then topped with Krylon True Blue. I think it's very close. I'll try to get some pics posted before the weekend of what I have done.
