  1. ADD Another to that list please! I had decided against letting my armor go at the last minute and decided to stick it out. I'm in the Langley area and would love to be a part of a Vancouver Garrison! Ready, willing and able to report for duty!
  2. *Zzzztttt!* Sorry Sir! We've been looking for these blasted 'droids this whole time! *zzzzttt!*
  3. This was on You Tube... . Came about it while surfing craigslist for SW memorabillia. The local owner (TK187 aka Nick) is selling what looks to be an FX armor. Don't we all feel like that lonely trooper some days?
  4. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS PIC! This is exactly what I needed to get an idea for my set up. Cheers!
  5. Glad to see that some are trying this `i I must have lucked out. The pieces I got from the big orange box fit like a glove. Like the original tutorial, I just velcro-ed the face plate on, which covers the seams of the TD. Let me know if you need more close up pics!
  6. To paraphrase a great quote I've read here on FISD: "The only time your E11 should be holstered is when you're wielding a BFG"
  7. Lol! My 7 year old boy and I watched the whole thing on YouTube (Click here for Part I) and he couldn't get over the "dorky" way the TK's looked wielding the blasters like that. *WARNING for the uninitiated* The filler musical numbers are trippy!
  8. I'LL TAKE ONE!!!!! (Did I yell loud enough?) HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
  9. Thanks for the comments! It's giving me more to chew on regarding my placement of the amp... On the belt? I had not considered that as the unit itself is black and I didn't want it to be such a huge focal point on my white armor. Maybe if I paint it? I noticed that some seasoned troopers have theirs hidden in a pouch of some kind on their belts as well. It would be easier for something like this if I was shooting for a TD instead of a TK. I does dig in on my pecs. I had assumed that this was another "sacrifice" in wearing the armor . Nice to know that I can scratch something off the "uncomfortable" list. I had resolved NOT to mount it on my back plate as I didn't want the sound coming from behind. I'd hate for the illusion of being a TK to be shattered by sounding like a ventriloquist dummy. An option I've been thinking is setting up some black nylon webbing and clips right underneath my armpit. This way I can have the sound relatively closer to my front, but have it still blend into the black undersuit. Then, there's the option of selling it and getting something smallish and simple like Smitty's set up.
  10. Picked up a bottle of nail polish. Now I can paint the rivet heads after I do my toenails Happy day before the day before Christmas!
  11. A very heartfelt "THANK YOU" for founding this amazing site. Congratulations
  12. Nail polish. Check. Purchasing today. I was planning on painting them some how, but the tiny bottle of nail polish is way easier than masking the whole armor except for the rivets for spray painting (don't laugh. I could have actually done that). I did notice the straps pulling up. There's nothing like experience to pass on to the new recruits THANKS! BTW, man license revoked by wife. Next to testicles in her purse. Thanks for the comment! Technically no, it's not my first "build". I posted elsewhere on this site that I had picked up a child's trooper armor for my 7 year old boy Brandon. Looking back, it was very invaluable to get my feet wet this way. I had not known about whitearmor.net and pretty much went into it blind. Trial and error. Thankfully, the child kit was a steal at $150 on ebay. I butchered the helmet (Oh the horror!), but I'd give the armor an 7.5/10 I will be going back and tuning up his armor with the knowledge and advice I'm picking up on my own TK. I'm glad that the canvas covered is working for you. Those are the exact same reasons why I'd like to go this route. If you have any pics, please post away, It'd love to see a finished unit. Did you use the ABS stips that came with the armor? Thanks again for all the comments and advice! Merry Ho Ho!
  13. This the type of voice amp system I currently own. ----- It was left over from my Rubies Vader. Sold the "costume", kept the voice amp. I was initially going to mount it behind the chest plate, but I am left scratching my head how to do this without going ape-nuts with duct tape. Anyone have any pix of their rig I could get ideas from? Thanks in advance
  14. These are such fantastic suggestions! I'm taking notes as I go along. Great job on the armor! An advance CONGRATULATIONS!
  15. Couldn't for the life of me locally source these nylon webbing clips that I wanted to use. Finally found some at Michaels (local crafts store), Unfortunately, they wanted like $5 each clip. Ended up going to a Dollar store and picked up 6 lanyards with the clips I wanted. Total cost of clips = $6. Cut out the clips and tossed the fabric. Booya. Started with the chest and back. Rivitted the nylon straps and clips to allow to easy diassembly and storage. Chest and abs as they presently are - Awaiting buttons from VaderDave and still considering canvas covered belt over full canvas Comments?
  16. Hand plates - wrist strap as well as finger anchors. E11 Hasbro - all glued. Need primer and paint. Gotta wait until it's no longer -13 degrees Belt Boxes- Riveted underneath belt. Arms, Biceps, Thighs & Calves - All glued up. Needing shims on the back of calves
  17. Fuuunkeey! It's really neat seeing where troopers take their creative tendencies.
  18. I ended up getting the anvil system. Snaps I purchased at a craft store here. I tired installing them on a piece of ABS - didn't work. Kept falling apart. The post was definitely long enough. Tried 3 more times as I thought that the force of my hammering may be the issue. Still not working. I resolved to use pieces of webbing instead of ABS strips. Still kept falling apart. When I finally got one to stay on the webbing, the male and female parts wouldn't stay connected as it was malformed from my excess pounding. I know, I should have just bit the bullet and bought the $40 snap tool. BUT as it turned out, the nylon webbing and clip system is what I really wanted to use. Yes, it came about due to necessity rather than choice, but I'm not gonna split hairs.
  19. Snaps are NOT my friend. Rivets, clips and webbing are. Lack of updated post does not mean no progress. Run down: Calves - front glued. Need 1/2" shim in the back (Dangit! I was so close) Thighs - front glued. back velcro-ed for now. Abs and back - belt attached. awaiting suspender system from TK-9820 (I think I'm on his list) Chest /back - done, done and doner (?) Forearms - donerooni! Biceps - is don... don... da done Bells - bottom elastic strap glued on. Need to attach to shoulders. Hand plates - si dondas Thermal D - done Incidentals: - Awaiting buttons from VaderDave - E11 Hasbro mod: doopydoos glued on - needing primer and paint - I'm seriously considering going canvas covered as opposed to a full canvas belt - For now, I can't bring myself to "cut the butt", plate that is. I really like the slender feeling I get when I put the armor on - Need a new holster for my Has-E11. The rigid one that came with my armor will not cut it (anyone want it?) The wife will be taking the kiddies out today for a birthday party. The plan is to lay everything out on the kitchen floor and snap a few pics of the progress. As I said: Snaps are NOT my friend. I know I'm doing something wrong. No, I don't know what it is. Yes, I'm too stubborn to learn what NOT to do. Nylon clips are my salvation. More to come...
  20. Yeah me too. Uhm... oh... I meant 2 boxer briefs please size "L" (manly ones) Cheers!
  21. I got mine off ebay. Off Redford films. Good price at the time too. $70 + shipping. He's all sold out now. Found this:------------- Good luck!
  22. I'm in the Greater Vancouver area and had been searching and searching and searching locally. No Novus to be found. Tried all the usual hardware places, hobby shops and automobile accessories & parts place. Then, I had a nasty rock chip the winshield of my vehicle. Took it in to a glass repair place (Speedy Auto) and VOILA! Sitting on the sales counter was Novus #1, #2 & #3 for sale. Of course, I could have just ordered online, but why make it that easy for myself Hope this helps my Canuck bros & sis's out there!
