  1. Great looking hardware. I have quite the affinity for the handplates.
  2. These are GREAT! Thanks for the find. My kids will love these!
  3. L L! You know, that would totally explain why all troopers in the OT are all horrible shots! Well... it would explain the defeat on Endor. Imperial kegger!
  4. Oh! And my finished thermal detonator / O2 canister.
  5. First pic. Hopefully the next few will be more revealing
  6. No progress on incorporating the Arc source However, I did manage to fully insulate the TD and fill it with blueberry Squishy YUMMY!
  7. Lol! Funny story, when I told the wife I bought the armor I told her it's to keep me out of trouble during my free time. She burst out laughing. "Free time?", why? Did you want another kid? (We have 1 six year old, 1 seven year old and the twins are 7 months - incidentally that's it! No more. This Imperial cruiser has been "decomissioned", if you get my drift ). I'll definitely post the pics. I've been taking snap shots as I go along. If I've got more progress on the build, maybe this Friday. I see the armor in 3 parts: extremeties, torso and abs & helmet. Since I'm going with my MRCE lid, it actually is just 2 parts. Oh! and my frankenstein of a thermal detonator.
  8. Day 2 & 3: - Biceps and thighs. Completed. - Started this thread on a variation of the thermal detonator assembly http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=5488 Day 4: - Started on the calves. Twin boys fussy as heck. Having to run back and forth from the hobby table (dinner table) and the play pen. - After gluing one set of calves, realized that I glued 2 parts of the same type (IE: the backs of the calves did NOT have any trim). Panic sets in. Then my hours of surfing whitearmor.net pays off. I remember on one post on accidental gluing to place the piece in the freezer! Move the roast beef, turkey and a whole whack of Weight Watchers frozen dinner out of the way. 20 mins later... Viola! Plastic weld be GONE! 2 halves crack apart. Need to sand and start again. - 2 coats of primer and 1 coat of paint on my thermal detonator variation assembly
  9. Great build! Very inspiring. Thanks for posting. I'm using your thread (as well a few more) as reference for my project.
  10. Point taken on kleptomaniacs making off with your detonator. I know that a percentage of existing TK have used the thermal detonator as a storage unit anyway. I'm just thinking this would be practical with the male and female threads actually sealing the unit closed than using the traditional elastic band method. I like having more functional pieces to my costume (opposed to just decorational). I plan on using nuts and bolts to secure it to my ABS belt (while I'm waiting for my canvas belt). Besides, It gives me something to work on in between waiting for the plastic weld on my armor pieces to bond BTW, a pipe bomb is a definite possibility, especially if it's the explosive chilli I make for game day with the boys
  11. On the net getting more info on my current armor build and came across this practical TD mod from one of 501st own TK899 . http://tk899.blogspot.com/2008/10/inspired...nister-mod.html Has anyone else tried this? Since I am in the infancy of my own TK build, I have a great opportunity to incorporate elements such as Elite and other more practical modifications. I'm really digging this. Thoughts?
  12. *UPDATE* It's here! Picked it up from the postal depot. Dinged another $50.00 on custom fees BUT! It's here Unpacked everything and took over the dinner table. Started on the forearms. Using electrical tape to mask. Sanded areas for gluing and now clamped. Hmmmmmm.... plastic weld never smelled so good. Anybody else got the munchies?
  13. Lol! No, no, no... No Halo in this forum. Just excited for the pending armor. The shiny pristine trooper suit. You know, kinda like that new car smell? "Here it is, the last suit you'll ever put on" - Agent K

  15. Stormtrooper_shop armor is a wonky FX recast. I had previously bought the child armor on eBay for my 6 year old son this Halloween and for his Star Wars themed birthday party at Planet Lazer 2 days later. I must admit it was a steal at $115 US and a great project for me to get my hands dirty with. Hopefully I'll remember what I learned NOT to do on my armor. The moulds were not as clean as I had expected and the lines did not match up properly (especially the lid!), but definitely still a head turner. We even had grinning dads from several different birthday parties stopping by our area to chat my boy up. as promised, it arrived before Halloween. It came 3 days before so it was a mad dash to make. I ended up using a buttload of velcro to hasten the project (see pic - the helmet shown is NOT the helmet kit that came with it. I didn't have time to build it for Halloween so my lucky little fella got to use me MRCE that night!) On my armor, I think I'll take a little more time ********************************************** *NOTE* I did NOT purchase an adult armor from Stormtrooper_shop due to the poor quality. I have used Troopersupplies based out of CA for my complete FX armor kit. They have a decent reputation and their customer service has been nothing but first class! Every email has been answered. Professionalism is gangbusters! They even threw in a free pauldron and black cog patch. All for $475! You couldn't ask for a more positive experience for a newbie like myself!
