TD Ammo Pouch - sets of three
WhiteCommando replied to WhiteCommando's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
He is offering them for $19.99 per pouch, and shipping is $25.00. So, if my conversion is right, 40? or so. I will see if he ships to the UK... I bet so. Later Brother! John -
I found a supplier of reproduction ammo pouches (which could be used for TD suits). The maker sells them in pairs, but if I am correct, TDs wear three... one at the shoulder and one for each hip. The manufacturer says he could sell them in lots of three. I have found several pouches in a wide variety of quality on-line in my search, but they look very weathered, from time, or they are made of some drab fabric. Chime in on if this sounds interesting. I may be able to get discounted shipping for a batch of these. Here is a pic of a pair... --------

Thigh-to-Knee Reshape on FX
WhiteCommando replied to WhiteCommando's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
OK, I did it. I will post pics of the suit - on my mannequin - soon. And pics of my troop after Saturday. But I wanted to show you what I have. AND yes, I know the thighs are too low on the legs... I needed only 2, or 4 at most, pieces of fabric side velcro to secure my thigh straps to the abdomen. I have a linked system from suspenders to the torso, then the torso th the thigh, with a supplemental garter. I have in each piece of armor a strip of fabric IndStrgth velcro inside the front of the thighs that spans the entire height of the thighs. See if you notice something, and look at the thigh picture for 10 seconds... Hmm. Oh well. May have to adjust the positioning of the knee ammo boxes upward by an inch. Thanks for the tips guys. The shape is way better. John -

Thigh-to-Knee Reshape on FX

Exactly! That is what I am talking about! I was thinking of a heat gun too. Funny, I just saw one last weekend at Lowes for $27.50. Why was I looking at it and checking the price AND why I did not get it... I do not know. So, the armor starts to pull to a more correct shape by merely being pulled by the velcro in the back? My front seams are CA glued. I will have it done by Wednesday... perhaps I should take pics before and after... hope I do not melt it! Thanks Don! John -
The holes at my knee (on my thigh armor) is oblong width wise, not along my axis of forward motion. It pinches my knee caps on both legs and I have wideness at the bottom of the thigh armor. Can I take a heat gun to reshape that hole to be more circular, at the least? Would heating cause the ABS to warp/distort? I am interested in your replies and feedback. John

Since the E-11 is nearly new in most scenes in Star Wars, you should focus on a very good base coat. Since the Hasbro is plastic, and you want to look like steel, use Bondo Glaze filler to fill the fabrication holes (for screws), as well as removing any STAR WARS branding on the gun with files and/or sandpaper. Prime twice, Gloss black 2 coats, then hit with a Testor's Dull Coat (optional). Use a Silver Leaf paint pen for glossy metallic weathering, and use Krylon silver sprayed onto an old torn up Tee-Shirt, and gently rub the gun. The aluminum will gather on detail spots. I did this method on my clone DC-15 rifle and a pair of DC-17 pistols for a friend... the results were quite good. Experiment. Good Luck, John

If you can solder, I saw this review... "Awesome little Board You can solder a remote play switch between R3 and the Neg side of the C1." Then remove the speaker, and add 1/8" jack, then patch into the amplifier. Install a remote play switch into your trigger area of your E-11. Easy in theory. I may try this since I just happened to buy a cold soldering kit 2 days ago. Anyone know about where to get a remote play switch? -
I skimmed over the instructions, but I got the FX lite. No glue or Velcro included in the kit. I have learned there are ten-and-twenty ways to assemble this kit... but I did as follows. I used one clamp, CA glue, and CA accelerant, and I did this while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with my youngest... two hours max to complete all of my upper armor. I used CA and accelerant to glue each connection point on the bicep armor after taping together over my arm, flexed, the measurement was good, glued, applied accelerant. Clamp. Biceps done. Glued the top detail strip on the forearms, applied Industrial Velcro to the bottom overlap detail strip. Clamp. Forearms done. CA glued elastic straps to shoulder armor to go under armpits, applied accelerant, applied Velcro for connection to armor shoulder straps. Shoulders done. Decided on a fully glued shoulder strap set-up. For added strength, I scored the connection points with a blade. I used CA glue, then accelerant, clamp 4 times, chest/back done. For the torso, I am going with white vinyl side shims (since I do not have a 34" inch waist) - I just need to buy the vinyl. Torso will be done once I have the material. My suit should hold up to several days of trooping - I hope. I did the exact same assembly on my ABS clone armor, and it held up to 2 full days of trooping at Celebration 3 in 2005, Star Wars Premiere Day - all day, Halloween (2 full days), and a troop with Star Garrison in early 2006. Six days of long troops with not a single seam pop. We shall see. Neckseal and white boots arrive today. I expect to go from zero-to-TK in twenty days! This is an easy suit to put together. Plus I have had some great advice from guys here! Later Brothers, John

I found a web site for fire fighters, and it had these bladders, held onto the thigh, and hooked up to a "prophylactic" type of attachment... and you pee into your leg bladder... ad drain when you have some alone time. Weird what you can find on the internet! Sorry about your boots. -

Rule 1 in a potential gunslinger exchange... whip it out first, and shoot before your opponent does... therefore freeing him of the opportunity of shooting at all. Greedo was a scummy bounty hunter... he deserved to die. Han Solo did all of us a big favor... that galaxy is a better place because of him. I love you Han Solo! John

I understand about the weird stuff. I saw a lot of custom Mandos that I thought were kind of odd. I did a custom Mando a while back, as well as helping another fellow do it. My old avatar... Custom lid for a guy in the UK... BREAKING NEWS :: I just got a PM from the guy making it... he said he handed it off to some guys who said they will be making copies of it before this summer. There you go. -
How do people feel about this... It is by Imaginager off the RPF. Just wondering.
