  1. You do now it was just a movie, right? Move along, move along...
  2. Yeah, sorry I drifted a little off of the path to accuracy But those tests in the past week (and the encouragements, of course) help a lot and things are quite clear to me now.
  3. that was about the plan....5 minutes ago! But that would have been cheating and the result would have been reduced accuracy My visit to the latex clothing factory was helpful, but a little terrifying (because of the size and the machines). I now know how to turn into a smaller "scale". It will be a one piece again. Stretchy, but not "choky", which will "fit most" It it works out, it will be easy to make (for me) and highly affordable. I will proceed to my the next (wearable) prototype they way I planned, just to get the the dimensions right.
  4. Just just opend my mind and I just solved a couple of problems. THANK YOU! My thinking was TOO complicated!
  5. You're really getting into my mind, Paul Thanks! I'll do my math again.
  6. I just wanted to test my theory I've have/tried both. The decals do look great (Mike put a lot of effort into it), but hand painting is easy enough. Even if you have two left hands, the painting will be en par with the screen used ones.
  7. And because you strive for accuracy, this wasn't cheap, was it?
  8. Hi think Daniel wants to say that it should be specified how/with what they should be closed. Right? RIGHT?
  9. Thanks! Indeed! It does look almost like the hero texture. But for the stunt ones, the texture will be removed, it will be slick and glossy Some of you are wondering, which there's such slow progress. As I said in another thread: When it comes to prop replicating/ costuming, 3 adjectives apply: Fast accurate cheap You can only have 2, but not all 3 e.g. If you want it fast and accurate, it won't be cheap If you want it cheap and accurate, be prepared to wait some time if you want it fast and cheap, it won't be accurate See? For those who are new: The current version of my hand guards took about 3 years to develop! But I had a lot of help and input from the members here.
  10. Mathias, Stuart, what's your drink? This is something I learned over the past 3 years. When it comes to prop replicating/ costuming, 3 adjectives apply: Fast accurate cheap You can only have 2, but not all 3 e.g. If you want it fast and accurate, it won't be cheap If you want it cheap and accurate, be prepared to wait some time if you want it fast and cheap, it won't be accurate Thinking of it, this really applies to everything in life! Edit: please excuse the typos I made the past days.My "space bar" and my "a" seem to be stuck a little...
  11. Those terms confuse me all the time :-D
  12. LOL! Always two sides of a story there are!
  13. This MUST be the reason we're that an easy target
  14. Thanks Paul! I appreciate your input, as always! Of course, I'd prefer the pull on type. Those other options are really for those who want them. As I said before, there's no way I could pull off a seamless one-piece seal* (without shelling out hundreds of monies and/or putting countless worktime on every finished piece)** But I doubt the orginals were seamless. Remember that obvious seam in the Tantive hall? Mybest guess is (what ever they used) there was some cutting (bib) and glueing involved. And of course it's for the HC troopers! .. But on the other hand, 4 years ago, only HC guys wanted flexible hand guards *(One way is to dunk a heavy plaster mold in big tank full of liquid latex serveral times. The other way is to hand brush the latex onto a big, heave latex moldand on the same time using a hair dryer to dry the latex. Takes several hrs for 3-4 layer per seal. NOT very cost reductive) **(There is the distict possibiliy that I'll be able to make silicone one-piece in the not-so-far-away future. But it all depends one certain factors like demand etc) ***( Thanks everyone who read my mental diarrhea so far! )
  15. Or you could make themyour self: trace the trapezoids on some vinyl, and paint on that until you're saitisfied
  16. Interesting But the paint won't stay on because of all the bumping IMHO
  17. I once wanted to make a complete one, but I don't have the space and technology to make one. And I'd have to make at least 3 sizes to accomodate various necksizes. So it will be a sheet, cut and glued to size. There is a large, visible seam on one of the screen used ones, so I think I can get away with it. A sheet gives us the opportunity to use different closing methods. 1) completely glued. put it on like a turtle neck. Screen accurate, but if you are not used to tight collar and/or neckties, this can feel claustrophobic. 2) velcro. For those who like it 3) A (hidden) zipper. As used in most ..ahh... adult latex clothing. Easy to do, no sewing, just cut and glue The best way to glue and maintain a latex neck seal (and any other latex clothing) is to get a tire repair kit ;)which costs abour 3 bucks. What do you all thinkabout that? I don't mind at all! I need every oberserving pair of eyes I can get!
  18. I see Don't know yet. but I'll try to keep the price as low as possible. The package will include a free balaclava, and there will be kits (cut & glue yourself) and finished ones. But lets discuss details when I have something to show
  19. WOW! Better than new!
  20. I don't have the pic at hand, but I think the first neckseal is different, because he wears it INSIDE OUT. This explains the wider spacing, thinner ribs and the different folding "behavior" Thanks again for the pics! The ribs seem a little wider apart because this pic was taken with10" distance. If you go further away they look closer. Thanks! I didn't get that with the basic requirements. Thanks Lou! Gerne doch!(Sure thing!)
  21. I second that. Go for the extra touch und glue the elsatic on the inner box and then put a pop rivet in it
  22. Thanks! Did you ever notice that the neck seal in the first pic (the color one) looks different than in the other pics? The ribs are smaller, the spacing is wider... I think I know why! I need to take some pics, I'll reveal it later the day!
