"First, why is there 2 sets of "ears" for the bucket"?

It is more that likely that you have a set of "Stunt" ears and a set of "Hero" ears.  The difference is that the Stunt has 4 raised ridges on the "bump" and Hero has 3.

I noticed that you did not cut out the 4th tooth.  (GREAT job on the others)!  Are you aiming for Hero?

For basic Stunt approval and above, Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area Eight total teeth on the frown are cut out.

Thanks @justjoseph63, both sets of ear have 4 bumps ATA emailed me back and said it was because folk tend to screw these up the first time. :-)

I guess they have dealt with enough of us Noobs that they are being proactive. LOL, so it looks like I have to go Stunt.

I'm curious about the teeth thing because based on the reference pics, only two of them show 8 teeth and you can clearly see that the 4th one on each side in the pics was just painted over in the others. I didn't want to force the issue trying to get the fourth on on the viewers left side of my face plate if I didn't need to, but if you think I need to do that to get approval, I'll make it happen.

Thank you for the feedback, it is very much appreciated!

ATA supplies 2 sets of ears because they can be tricky to trim for the first timers ;)

    Thank you.

ATA Works got back to me and said the same thing. They are normally really good with communication, I was just being impatient and figured I'd ask the forum members and see if anyone know.

Hello Everyone! I just got received my ATA Works Kit in the mail today (Happy 10th Anniversary to them btw), and I am beyond overwhelmed! I’ve been looking into the forums and it’s been really confusing as it seems everyone does it different. I think the main thing I’m asking is:

    1) Can someone point me in the direction of some really informative stunt builds?

    2) What’s next? What and how much do I need to buy to make my building experience more enjoyable? (Rivets, buttons, velcro, magnets, etc.) Thanks for your help! :)

I'm just going to follow your thread, I'm in the same boat. My BBB day was today, and I have many of the same questions. Good Luck to you!

  4. Well, today is BBB +1.
I'm going to try and build my Bucket today.
I've watched about a dozen videos on YouTube, for helmet building, and unfortunately, I still have zero confidence, but every great journey begins with a first step, so here we go...

PS... I also think that this build is going to switch from hero to stunt as the helmet has too many teeth. My understanding is the hero helmets only have 6 cutouts, 3 on each side, the helmet has 8. But well see when I get to that part if there is something I can do.61f2340e0e430aaa928f49ea395e51bf.jpg01d347bd6155f91f2931e1fb837c4600.jpgdd57587530ab795a39bf2e4f46adac3c.jpg

  5. So went through the box and I'm overwhelmed. But also excited. Couple of questions for those that have done an ATA Works armor build.
First, why is there 2 sets of "ears" for the bucket?
Second, should I have gotten decals for the bucket, or will I have to order some or hand paint myself? If I want to order, any suggestions from where?

Here is a link to my Google build collection.

  6. So it begins....

I've been lurking around the 501st and Rebel Legion for years at cons and other events, and now that my kid is off to college, I'm ready to take the plunge.

I've been going back and forth about the hero vs stunt build, but I think I want to do the Hero. I placed my order and now I'm awaiting my BBB arrival of ATA armor.

I've never done anything like this before, I'm a computer guy, not a builder so I'm horribly afraid I'm going to screw something up and cost myself some major money, so I'm reading all the info I can find on the forum, watching YouTube videos, and I'm awaiting my approval for the forums on the garrison (Tyranus) in my area so I can hope to find a build party or someone local who might be willing to come over and help me not screw it up. LOL

Thanks everyone for your help thus far, I'll be posting photos and updates as thing get rolling.

Well obviously everything has subtle differences. OT Tks will be all around the same base. A lot of people do bios TKs then as the armor ages and gets dinged and dirty they change to a Sandtrooper. If you want to start with a sandy that’s great. Do what’s gonna make you happy. We can help with all Stormtrooper related builds and MEPD.net deals with sandtroopers

    Thank you Frank.

As I've never built anything like this before, I'm hoping to do the base TK with as few "upgrades" or fine details so that I can get my ID, and then I'll work on upgrading and fine tuning.

Welcome to the white zone James. Did you already decide for a specific type of Stormtrooper armor? (ANH, Stunt, Hero, ESB, ROTJ, TFA, TLJ, R1, TFU, ...) Just curious. :)

Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out the difference.  I really want to build a Sandtrooper, but several folks I spoke with suggested building a base TK and as it naturally weathers to turn it into a Sandy.  But I'm currently focusing on something from the OT. Maybe you can help me to understand the differences?

  9. Maybe I'm missing it, and someone can point me to it, but where is the list of the "soft" items we will need?

This list is amazing and I'm starting to gather the items now so that when the big brown box arrives I'll be ready to get started!

Thank you to everyone who is making this look/sound easier. I'm still concerned I'm going to screw it up, but fingers crossed with the help I find here, I'll be joining the crew on Troops soon.

    Thanks again!

    James

  10. Greetings everyone. My name is James, I'm from Richmond, VA and I'm looking to join the 501st. And my hope is to start with the most recognized Sci-fi armor.

I've spoken with folks at Garrison Tyranus at multiple events and I think I'm ready to take the plunge. I've already reached out to TK Products to inquire about getting my big brown box, and I'm reading the "Getting Started" forums to learn more. Looking forward to trooping with some of you in the very near future, if I can figure out how to build this kit once I get it. I'm a computer guy, so I'm clueless and nervous about the build, but anxious to start.
