https://trooperbay.com/abdominal-plate-masking-templateDoes anyone one have any tips on painting round ab buttons? I've tried twice now and I cant seem to get it right. I'm aiming for centurion. I'm using UKS AM and Anovos build threads as reference. My kit is AM.
Thanks!

Templates. TrooperBay. Paint the edges white to seal the edge, then paint the blue/grey.

I give permission for FISD to repost my photos on social media in an appropriate fashion.
My first troop is scheduled for 2/28-3/1 At Mysticon in Roanoke, VA
I'm excited to show off my White Armor.
Three Days @ Mysticon. Our Garrison counts each day as a troop.
I did over 12hrs in my white armor, including an hour long "meet the 501st" panel, over the 3 days.
This will be my Troop Log List as well.

Thank you everyone for the help! I can't wait to get out there and Troop. My first troop will be a local Con in two week.
My ID is my Father's birthday. He passed away 6 years ago. He was always my hero and my inspiration. He took me to all the Star Wars movies, starting with A New Hope when I was only about 4 years old. I don't remember it, but I do Empire and ROTJ. I took him to see all the prequels. And now I've been passing on my love for Star Wars to my son, who I'm helping build his TK as well (learning from my mistakes).
If Only You Knew:
- Cutting the ABS would hurt my hand so bad.
- trim/sand slowing
- ears are hard
- Ask for help, there is lots of it out there.
- you will make mistakes, the armor is somewhat forgiving, and most mistakes can be fixed with E6000 and scraps
- Save your scraps
Oops!:
- Life happens
- The build done right takes time
- Cost just starts with the kit, it adds up with the tools, and extras
- ASK FOR HELP! don't be so gun ho to think you can do it alone. Watch the videos, go to armor parties, take pictures.
A funny thing happened on my way to the Death Star:
- I could not have done this without the help I received from the other members in Garrison Tyranus. I was terrified to cut my armor and they gave me the confidence to get the work done.
- E6000 doesn't cure well in the cold
- Always have a spare propane tank for your propane heater.
- Measure 600 times, cut once (very carefully, and a little at a time).
Shout Outs:
- I could not have done this without the help of the former Garrison Tyranus CO, Stoagie Schwank TK-4863! He helped me from BBB day to Approval. many weekends in his garage, including several Armor parties.
- Also Reese Ensign (29992) and Tim Allen (10930) for helping guide me through the approval process.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
Now on to helping my son build his TK.
I hope to see you out there!

Next up for me will hopefully be a Sandy.

yeah james, those photos looks better. Even though, you aren't going for L2/L3, there's always something you can improve just for better luck.
I would suggest to level up your belt to almost touching the lower ab buttos, not a big deal but let you looks better. here's a reference photo so you can see what I'm talking about.
Cheers and let's continue your great work.
Thank, I just had it wrapped on since I just got it in the mail that day.
I haven't attached anything yet! But thank you for the feed back. I will definitely use the ref photo

Progress is being made. I'm going with a suspender setup that the Trooper helping me uses. I'm not looking for L2/L3, just want to be able to troop, so I hope this passes.

Welcome. I'm about that same build and I can tell you that I wish I had done the research you did. My ATA armor is just a bit too small for me. The folks in my squadron are helping me out, but I'm worried I'll be cutting, chopping and extending for a bit. Good Luck!

I'm 6'2" 250lbs and I have a long torso. I have a set of ATA armor that I'm currently building, and I feel like the ab and/or chest are too small. In order to get the chest overlap the ab has to be so high that the cod piece doesn't really cover the lower bits correctly, or if I put the ab piece lower, I have to pull the chest piece down so low I feel it doesn't look or sit correctly.
Do any of the armor makers make longer ab pieces and sell just pieces, or is the a suggested way to adjust/modify to fix better?
And regardless of what I do, the back plate doesn't overlap the kidney, I'm not sure if that is approvalable or if I have address that as well.
I'm just trying to get level 1 approval so I can get my ID and start trooping. I'll rethink the Level 2/3 stuff once I get one finished and operational, and maybe make this one a Sandie and build the 2nd one to higher standards.
Here are some pics for reference. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Well life got in the way, but progress is being made. I'm still working on the bucket modifications, but I've also trimmed all armor, built forearms, biceps, and shins, thighs are still curing and I'm on to strapping. I'm just going Level 1, maybe fit it up later, or try for Level 2/3 with a new kit once I take this one dirty for TD.
Here are some updated images.

Before you start trimming the ears I suggest you reposition the facplate, it´s a bit "sunk in" at the moment. Place it more out and down as illustrated by the arrows, not only will it make your helmet look closer to the originals it will also make the ears easier to trim as that will alligne the "tubes"...
So based on the feedback, does that look better?

Troop #4
May the Forth social distancing parade for a young fan that lost his father to cancer.
We followed all the social distancing requirements for our state, including limiting our troop to 10 people.
It was also my son's first troop. He has his TI and IC and we are working on his TK.
