Congratulations!

Wow Matthew! Fantastic build. If Paul and Tony think you've done a good job then you can take that to the bank! (perhaps an old guy expression) Your TK looks fantastic to me.

Hi Giles. Nice to see somebody else from Saskatoon starting a build! Welcome! Check out my build for a comprehensive guide of what not to do just kidding. I think I got a couple things right.
Ignore the self deprecating garbage. Greg's build is way better than mine. Full of great info. Way more detailed.

Hi Giles and welcome to FISD! Check out wook1138's build thread. He's from Saskatoon as well. Perhaps you know of each other? Anyway, start your build thread, take lots of pics and ask questions. Lots of very helpful troopers here willing to help you out.

Hello Gil and welcome to FISD! Being from Calgary originally I know how long the snow can last so don't wait too long to pull the trigger. I love my AP armour and am looking forward to your build thread. When your BBB arrives post lots of pics and ask lots of questions. We are here to help.

"Question is, do I centre the ammo pack to the cover strip or try to have the rivets equally spaced from the back return edge?"
I put the rivets equally spaced from the back edge. I quite like how it looks. My OCD usually makes me twitch when I see stuff off centre but this doesn't bug me one bit.

I've learned to look at the armor suits in a whole different way.
Yup. So true. This whole experience has opened my eyes to many things armour related and many things more important. And for that I will always be grateful.

Welcome to FISD Michael. The waiting game is the hardest part. Sometimes expensive. I think the good folks over at Amazon know me by name now. All those little bits and pieces I read about here. Anyway... When your armour arrives make sure to start your build thread, post pics and ask lots of questions. We are here to help you succeed!

I’ve never seen this either.
For me it wasn't so much on the checklist, I am going for screen accurate. I haven't seen any holsters with the black straps in ANH. I believe in ROTJ the straps are black. But I'm a big ANH fan. It's where it all started for me.

I'm glad this happened so quickly and I was able to contribute. I have to say that this is the most active and helpful forum I have ever been a part of. Troopers Helping Troopers indeed.

Get the money and forward it to AP before your wife gets any the wiser.
So tempting...hmm...I can feel the Dark Side growing within me...

I put my application in for Centurion yesterday. Glad to get this in before I start work on the 29th. Hopefully I won't need to do much or anything to be approved. Fingers crossed.
On a surprising note, I finally got an email from Anovos saying they are finally issuing a refund. It only took 3 months. They are saying I will see it in 2-5 days. I guess on their timeframe that means about another month. Ha. I will believe it when I see it.

Hello Amro and welcome to FISD. I hope you are able to get things started in Egypt. It would be great to have a garrison there. Someone has to be the 'first'. Is this you? I hope so. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to FISD! Your armour looks great! I haven't seen many Shock Troopers. Nice.

How in the world do you people even see that stuff in the movies?! Lol! Like some of the observations you guys make are crazy! (In a good way)
Matt, I watched ANH on New Years Day and saw things I had never seen before after 40 years of watching it (100+ times)! After immersing oneself in 'Stormtrooper Everything' while building, you learn so much and see so much more than you imagined possible.
p.s. Hi Greg.

Great photos Carl Ray! I've done 3 troops so far and have my next two booked. It's great to see the reactions of all the kids (& grown kids) when they see us. Keep posting.

I'm loving the 3D printed work on your build. What Brad says about the snap connection for the forearms is a good point. My arms are joined together from the shoulder down and it is tricky to snap the shoulder into place because of the limited range of motion I have. Forearms being separate would make things a whole lot easier when it comes to suiting up.

You are getting so close to finished! Looking great Greg!

You can use the same photos if, like you say, they meet Centurion specs

Are all new photos required for a Centurion application? From my EIB application/acceptance January 10, I have one change to my TK which I know needs new photos. Other than that, should I be taking all new photos in addition to the Centurion specific requirements?
-
Yeah, those split rivets. Hard to find for me. I'd like to redo my straps but can't without split rivets. Hmm. I think if we had return edges on our ab to kidney joins the overlap wouldn't happen. Didn't affect my EIB though and nothing was mentioned for Centurion prep comments either. The gap on the split rivet side is clearly visible in my photos as is the overlap. Good tip about roughing up the nylon.

Yeah. The sniper knee. Biggest challenge of my build. The left side is smaller than the return edge of the shin and will never look 100%. Mine is at an angle too from the front view. Couldn't be avoided. My only concern for you is the rather sharp corners I see from the underside shot. You might want to consider rounding them out a little to prevent it from splitting while you try to work it into place again. Here is a shot of where I got mine to after several hot water baths and removing almost the entire return edge on the bottom. I might have trimmed away even more. Looks like you've already done that. I'll get you a pic of my completed knee tomorrow.
