  1. Curious if anyone has done the above mod? trooperbays D-rings can probably be pried open but I’m worried about screwing up the shape irreparably.
  2. Ok....suck at posting (swear i'm not trying to up my post count LOL)...here is a pic of the kit after a couple of XTC-3D coats....looks like its been slimed from a xenomorph film... Plan to let it dry and then attack it with some sandpaper and primer after daughter's soccer tourney...
  3. Got the kit parts in tonight from my buddy in the UK. Put them together with a mix of crazy glue and 2 part epoxy (because I ran out of the crazy glue)..included mandatory Scotch pic b/c you know...its no Trooper build w/o the Scotch! After building, I coated the whole thing with XTC-3D which was suggested from my buddy who has many 3D builds under his belt. Apparently, this stuff makes it easier to sand/finish your 3D kit...I had no idea...so I bought the kit off Amazon and knocked it out....
  4. Cool thx for the clarification! Should be submitting for approval in the next couple of months...looking forward to it!
  5. Thanks much for the clarification! Am I correct that this is about who "owns" the CRL?
  6. Ok thanks...what does it mean that "it will go to MEPD?" responsibility for the CRL maybe? I mean...its my GML's responsibility for basic approval right? Only thing I can think of is that higher levels of approval would change but I'm guessing this old post never materialized b/c FISD has been approving higher level HWTs for awhile and I just popped over to MEPD and didn't see much about HWTs (will have to search that site more...not as familiar with it. Chris
  7. I'm converting my ANH TK to a HWT...do I have to go to MEPD for anything? This post confused me....what would I have to go to them for? Higher levels of approval?
  8. Couple more pics hot off the printer. Next steps (after it posts from the UK) is to use the XTC 3D coat in order to provide a uniform layer to sand/coat/paint the binocs. More on that process when I go through it since this will be my first time doing anything with a 3D printed product. I’m sure the majority on here are well seasoned gurus when it comes to finishing 3D printed products...I however am not in that group yet.
  9. Some pics of the 3D printing process
  10. All, As I compile my kit for my ANH TK conversion to HWT, I really wanted to add a set of electrobinoculars to the overall kit. While not required for basic or anything, it was just a prop I really wanted to have. As I started researching build threads etc I found some interesting scratch builds but wanted something more. Then I stumbled on the 3D print files on thingverse. I contacted a buddy who loves using his 3D printer and bam...a build thread was formed. I’ve soaked up so much knowledge on FISD, thought I would give back a little...especially since I could not find a satisfactory build thread for these on here (at least what I was looking for). I also didn’t like that I had to search all over to get anything adequate...one of the things I (and have to assume many) find challenging about joining the 501st is that information is largely dispersed throughout many different forums, all requiring different logins/etc. I know the info (or at least some of it) exists on MEPD but why should I have to get yet another account to find it? (I did eventually but I digress)...here are the files I’m using for the build (to give credit to the owner) credit to mightyjebus: ------------- pics of the 3D print and subsequent build to follow...
  11. This was an encouraging post...thx for this! im going to convert my Anovos modifies belt to a HWT belt and then, once I achieve basic HWT status I will focus on a Kittle upgrade...been thinking about the latter for awhile anyway until HWT became the main interest.
  12. Thanks that answered my question...was curious if you followed a method different than Tony’s build....sorry should have phrased the question differently.
  13. Did you follow a particular build to mod it?
  14. Thx much!! Was thinking of scuffing/using my Anovos belt for HWT (after removing the boxes and holster) to get basic approval and going up from there. I’ve already got a basic mod in there to sturdy it up a bit so should work fine for that purpose. Wanted to get the new canvas belt to have ANH TK replacement ready to go whenever I wanted to swap.
  15. Hi all, Noticed after reviewing the threads in here that many folks recommend having two belts to swap out in case you want to convert back and forth between your HWT and ANH TK. I know imperial issue has canvas belts for sale, but where does one go to buy the plastic parts to complete the ensemble? For the time being (and in order to be a HWT sooner) I will likely just remove my holster and ammo packs off my ANH TK, but would like to have 2 sets. Chris
  16. Ah understood....I’d be interested in these as well (once approved of course)
  17. This is good to know...may go the eye shadow route but charcoal is good too!
  18. Awesome thx much...think I'm on my way...have a backpack, DLT-19 and MP-40 pouches enroute... Looking forward to the conversion!
  19. Hi all...planning on converting my approved ANH TK to a HWT. Am I correct that all that is required for basic HWT (converting ffrom the standard ANH TK )is the backpack, pouches and light dusting/scuffing for basic approval? I compared the CRLs and that’s basically what I came away with...am I missing something? Chris

  21. Congrats and great thread...as someone who is starting an Anovos ANH TK build soon...this was very helpful! I'm hoping to knock mine out by Oct...but am also strapped for time. Good stuff in here!
