  1. LOL! That would just be awesome... And possible. He knows who we are, he knows what we do, he probably knows how much we go crazy about details and variations... He has put so many easter eggs in the movie that this doesnt sound to extreme... To put one single unfitting detail on a tk... Just to see how far the joke can go? Sounds like somethimg JJ would do. How cool it would be if in a few years he says something like... Hey, remember that black shoulder bell you have been discussing about since 2016, I just put it there to see what the 501st would make of it. Saludos.
  2. Thx bro... And, no. Not yet sadly. I am preparing for the summer cons season, want to finish tjis armor, but also want to start building my new ANOVOS kit into a TD. Hope i can find the time for both projects. Ill post any peogress. Thx for asking. Saludos. Juab
  3. This is amusing. Having owned or built kits from every single major maker, and after 10 years in this hobby, I do understand why would someone not understand where we come from as sw prop communiyu in or outside the 501st, amd why it is dificult to understand where we are standing now. One thing I dont understand, is why disrespecting or just disregarding makers based on how th ANOVOS kit looks and is produced. As if the ANOVOS was the non plus ultra TK armor just cause it is licensed. That just doesnt make sense. There is of course a whole universe behind this thread that most, specially if one is not into armor history or have not been here for enough time, would not derstand. But not understanding does not justify disregarding. (I am no expert, but I know there is a lot of real hard work, just as copying acusations and facts, and drama behind the vetted an non vetted kits) But well, as I said, it is amusing. Kindof makes me want to say "You fought in the flame wars?" LOL No ofence to anyone... Just trying to entertein myself here. Saludos.
  4. This is how I did mine. Trying to replicate the Tantive IV armor. It is quiet comfotable. And looks very authentic IMHO. Saludis.
  5. Later this year I will be building an EVA foam TD armor for my little daughter. This is inspiring!! Thx for sharing your process, ideas and learning! Saludos
  6. Ok. So now it's time for next step to happen. I will start transforming my armor into a full replica slowly with finish line on August for one of the biggest cons in Mexico. So, I will be reworking all the weathering on the outside as well as on the inside. Trying to replicate the looks of all the components including all strapping and other soft components. But I will begin with the boots. I have a pair of vintage Chelsea boots from eBay. And I have to paint them white. Just need to decide how to do it. Cause I don't want to turn them intro pristine white boots, but prop replicas. So far I have researched and thought of two ways: brush them white with enamel paint. Or just paint it with white spray paint. I do have regular white and super gloss white spray paint. Any insights on how the original were done. Have seen lots of references but can't find the definite info on the technique. Any pointers will be more than welcome. Saludos.
  7. Wait! Have you consider the masses demanding armor for SE Sandtro,.. er... nop. Nevermind. You are safe. Saludos
  8. WOW... I never imagined so much work was needed to put into this armor. Looks amazing... Thx for sharing your process... Saludos
  9. I am planning to build its as a Look Sir Droids trooper-inspired replica. Much like my TK that is inspired on the Tantive IV boarding party troopers. I know I will need some extra parts like the strapins system, sniper knee plate, and all the extra gear, and probably another helmet, unless I am able to take apart the Anovos in the original 4 parts... but I doubt it. Hopefully the ab details is a separate piece, or I wont be able to make it into a TD without many mods that I am not willing to do. If I am not able to build it into a TD, I will build it into an ESB TK. The handplate are useless anyway if I want to be accurate. I will anyway need a new bucket. Good thing I have an unbuild Gino and an unbuild TM helmets... If all of this fails, I will just sell the Anovos armor and get another TM kit. LOL... Saludos.
  10. Placed an order and hoping for the best. It cant be too bad... Saludos
  11. Awesome!!! Thx Steve, been waiting for this for too long... And it is finally happening. Thx a lot for your words and encouragement. It is a big honor and feels great. I am very happy to be able to represent this detachment with all the work I put on my armor, and also very happy to see such work stand side by side with so many other awesome builds and troopers. I also think I am the first trooper from Mexico achieving the badge and that is a double honor and responsability. To make this program go beyond the badge and the forums... And thx all my brothers for your kind words and encouragment... I will not stop here, i will bring this armor further and beyond... Muchas gracias. Saludos. Juan
  12. Hey Caitlin, I think the most important matter is, how long do you want to wait before joining the 501st? I really think this kit will be easily made to 501st standards. But, you will probably have to wait till the end of the year to get it, then build it. There are other makers that have similar time spam waiting lists, some others can have a kit sent out in a matter of days or a couple of weeks. But the price is not 350 either way of course. What is your priority? Price, accuracy, time? But to answer straight forward, IMHO, this kit will most likely be accepted is put together well. I don't have any reason to think the the contrary. My opinion anyway, but at this time, no one can say anything else but opinions since we have no real facts. Saludos
  13. For what I have seen, the most difficult thing to nail for taller troopers, is the ab/chest... cause, if you are tall enought, since the ab and kidney plates will only go up so much without hurting down there... and if the chest cant come down enough to meet the ab, you will have a very visible gap that will be VERY difficult to shim if not impossible, unless you really modify the whole thing or replace a part of two with larger parts as AM for example. You don't want to look like some of those guys wearing the Rubies armor on the joke videos on internet. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2008/2008_Rubies_sup_trooper2.jpg Thats what I am guessing anyway. Don't really know if there are other issues with size. Saludos
  14. Awesome bro. Take your time. Just remember one thing above all, this hobby is to make you happy, not others... And the best armor is the one that makes you happy. So, take your time, and get where you want to get... if you need any help or assistance, we are here to help. Borthers helping brothers... Saludos.
  15. Hey Jason, Have not seen this thread before. Seems like you are going to tackle the big SWAT challenge. I yet have to go over the MEPD to try to find your build thread, which I assume you have there, and follow it! I love builds that go from zero to SWAT. Yes, SWAT program has become more and more challenging with every submission, but I dont see that as a problem but as standig in shoulders of giants, if I may say so. Cause all the hard work researching and comparing that has been done by previous submissions by many troopers will only help you be more precise with your build and not start from scracth. Also, I see you are toying with the idea of not going for SWAt and just stay PO due to one single detail in your build (did I got that right). If so, don't be discouraged. I mean, PO is quiet an achievement to be proud of, but no need to stop there. Keep on building every part of your amor the best you can and then come back and review any possible mistake or detail you are not happy with. As part of the team that developed the program (to give what looked like a very small bunch of troopers something to aim for), and seeing where the program is now, I know that this is something worth the effort, but also, there is no short cut or easy way to get there. It took me 6 years and 2 sets of armor, to take my sandtrooper where I wanted it to be. And trust me, it was not easy at any moment. Just keep in mind what you want and go for it. If I can be of any help, shoot me a PM here, at MEPD or facebook. I am not the most expert guy in armor or "clean troopers" of any kind, but I do know my Sandtrooper stuff and that will always be used to help anyone and everyone. Saludos.
  16. Yes, from what we know, I don't see any reason why it would not be approvable for Police Officer with the proper mods, as any TK kit. For SWAT, well, that would have to be an evaluation made individually as all SWAT submissions. But, if the kit is really near what we see on the prototype, with the proper mods and parts, and extra gear, you can have an armor to work up your way to SWAT. Saludos.
  17. Just select it to your shopping cart, and then select te kit version before placing the order. Saludos
  18. Well, If you want an easier way, I think there is not. Nothing beats attaching it to the pack's strap. There are many alternative ways of course. They all are based in having an extra strap, Velcro or snap attached to the chest plate itself. Are you looking for ways to attach it for pack less troops? Saludos.
