I am not afraid of failure so much as I am concerned with not trying. I know I've made multiple mistakes during this submission, yet I am quite thankful for all of the help I have received. Here are some updated photographs for the submission, and once again, thank you. As promised, I've removed the paint on the cod rivet and butt plate snaps! Also, I've lowered my thighs to make them closer to my shins: And finally, I've "blacked out" the interior of my helmet using strips and foam padding: I know, the fans are white, silly me bought them like that before I knew it would be best if they were black. Thank you all for all of your help in this laborious process. If there's anything further you can think of I'm missing or need to do just ask. I appreciate all of the help I've received. Like a true stormtrooper I'm terrible with my aim and attention to detail is a constant struggle for me, but in the end my efforts do pay off! Thanks!

Most excellent uniform! Great to see this quality of work, and in my area to boot!

Thanks for the information. I was equally concerned about the belt flap. I found that I actually had it tightened too much which is what was causing the overlap. I can loosen that, indeed. Is that something that'll affect EIB? Just curious. BTW, I can't wait 'till I get my DLT-19 from HFX! Thanks again!

Wow! I feel like such a noob! Nope, I didn't see that anywhere in the CRL but it makes perfect sense. I greatly appreciate the insight into this. I've switched the forearms around appropriately. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this will satisfy the mandate. I may have made many mistakes in this submission but perhaps my mistakes will be for the benefit of someone else! Also, thank you for the information as well. I have already made the correction to the TD clips as referenced in the picture above. Thanks everyone for all the help!

Okay, I've made the modifications to the TD using putty and a drill to re-position the clips. I was able to find some matching putty so it's pretty much okay I suppose. I'll leave that up to your discretion. I know the screws are supposed to be black and that's the next step. In addition, I've repositioned the forearms so the "bumps" are on the outside. I hope this helps as well. I lowered the forearms to my hands, but my hands are bent down so, dernit, I didn't know that. Believe me, the forearms were at my wrists. I have an extra long wingspan so it's not easy finding shirts that fit. But this armor seems to do just fine. As for the other modifications you've given me advice on I plan to undertake that soon. I bought some plasti-dip for the bucket and will be putting that on. In this picture I was wearing a balaclava to conceal the inside upper portion of the bucket. I'll also be taking the paint off the cod piece strapping. If there's anything else you can think of I welcome the input. Thank you so much for all your help!

my first build with anovos kit wip
MacPhisto replied to shamankid's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have some experience with this as I've just about wrapped up some modifications on my Anovos TK. Being on a budget is not a bad thing, at all. If anything, it makes you hyper-focused on what's important and getting the right materials the 1st time around. I'm sure you've already seen this link but I'll put it right here, just in case: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-ukswraths-anovos-tk-build/ This is the thread I used for all of my modifications. GET THE BRACKET system he links in the thread! It's worth it's weight in gold! Take your time with your build and if it has to go slow because of budgetary reasons than so be it. Slow progress is better than no progress and soon enough your TK will be something to shout about. Best of luck on getting the TK together. It's an exciting process that just takes time and patience! -
You know what Jeff, I think you have a valid point here on the use of the bucket with a suit and tie. I think that's a definitive answer in the affirmative for this type of an event. If it gets to be too much I can just take the bucket off and I'll be good to go. I'll be sure to post some pics after the event!

Advice on Lower Leg armor, ANH
MacPhisto replied to MacPhisto's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I about doing that but I was concerned about how to attach it to the shin guard. The selling point for this idea was using snaps, much better than straight Velcro! -
Hello all, I've been doing some modifications to my Anovos ANH TK armor following Ukswrath mostly but I couldn't find one specific item of particular interest to myself. My shin guards, lower leg armor, was constantly riding up every time I took a step. I know this isn't a new problem for most people and I'm sure people have come up with their own solutions but I thought I'd share my own. I decided that the best way to keep the armor in place is to have it snap onto something. So I came up with this. I used some ABS plastic cut into small squares and mounted snaps onto it. I used the Anovos supplied strap that already had buttons on it. Combining the two it looks like this. So, now that I have two of these I can easily install them on the interior of the shin guards. Of course I'll be removing the Anovos installed fabric for plastic to plastic contact and I'll be using E6000 glue and some magnets to get it to hold on. The bottom portion of the fabric will come out of the bottom of the shin guard here. What I plan to do is to sew this end onto each boot. Then, when I don my TK armor, all I'll have to do is to snap the shin guards on and viola! no rising shin guards! I'm sure someone has done something similar to this before so I'm sure I'm not treading a new path here, it's just my solution to a problem I was having and I thought I'd share. I welcome any and all feedback. Thanks everyone!

TK-70926 Requesting ANH Stunt - EIB Status [682]

Armor looks great! Best of luck on the submission! -
In light of this, I don't think I'll be doing any spontaneous trooping, just an idea I had in mind is all. Thanks all!
-
Hello all, Since I'm new to the whole 501st and trooping in general, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with what I'll call spontaneous appearances. What I mean by that is, did you ever show up in your armor to an event where they weren't expecting you to be in such a state. The reason why I'm asking this is because my family's church is having a father/daughter dance. I was thinking of showing up in my TK armor to dance the night away with my girls but I don't know how receptive they would be to the idea. If you have ever had a spontaneous appearance at an event where there wasn't anyone expecting you in full armor I'd like to know what response you got. Were you shunned? Did the villagers chase you away with pitchforks and torches? Did they think you were the advance for a troop looking to occupy the area? Please let me know; inquiring minds want to know! Thanks in advance!

Thank you both! -
I've been meaning to post this since I got my TK number in December but I'm just now able to upload a photograph. It's great to be on board! I look forward to submitting photographs for EIB as soon as possible!
