After reading a bit i am going to use the inside support strip for the bowed piece. While that dries i did a rough trim of the knee plate. And taped the thighs together to fit. -

Before and after of the calf repair. I am going to check the shin/calf pieces for scuffs and scrapes, then sand/polish those out before assembly. And now to work on this gap. -

I went back to resize the calf section That flare (even though it is getting cut off), was making it hard to get a doof measurement for fitting. I used the heatgun to get it smoothed down. Low setting and a little time. I didnt want to overheat it. It worked, and it only changed the mark 2 mm. I went through and overlapped again for my last measurements. Split the difference and drew a line. When cutting i clamped the ruler down (it is slightly flexible) and made my first cut. Even with clamping, it didnt follow the line exactly, then Iremembered in one of the videos it said use a strait edge scrap of abs. I clamped it down and cut the other side and perfect. It was much more flexible. And the other 3 cuts were spot on. The crooked piece is getting repaired with abs. I'll post before and after that repair when I get to it later. -

Earlier i posted about the pinch in my shin, and the dimples in the ab button plate. Since i had the left and right shin/calf pieces switched, the pinch is on the right shin and not covered by the knee plate. So it will need filled, sanded, polished. So i made some abs paste. I started when I got home from work during evening snack. Poured in the acetone. A few scraps snd stirred. Through out the night i sprinkled in more abs till i got a consistency somewhere between melted chocolate and canned cake frosting. It worked great! Before/after abs paste. I dabbed it on with a tooth pick and then smoothed quickly with the tip of my glove. I will sand and polish when I reach that section of the build. -

So The white section beneath the black tape was what i originally thought my cut line was. Measured calf and inside of armor. Split the difference. The white tapeline over the black is my actual cut line (i think) The vertical section is what i got from following darth panda's vids. Put on with boot. Then closed with ooeming towards the inside. Marked the top and bottom where my thumb is and the blue arrows are the edge of the underlap. Measured from mark to edge on top and bottom of both parts. Then split the difference and made a new mark. Clamped a straight edge connecting the lines, amd marked. It may need trimmed a little but it is closer than i was. And the boot is smooshed. I think it is too tight. -

So between clients I was able to watch the trooperbay and panda videos. I think I should be good to go till I move onto the next section. -

After watching more videos at work. I ran home to walk the dogs at lunch and decided to tape this together. Now that it is together I can see a difference in the curves. With the longer curve being on the outside, and the shorter curve on the inside. Pretty sure this one should be my left shin/calf piece. So I do have them on labeled wrong. -
Yes. That helped immensely. That will help once I can get the shins cleaned up. There are a couple of pinches in the plastic, that need filled and I have to find a way to get them taped together. The excess plastic in the back is causing the fronts to bow away from each other )( like that

I am currently working on my shins and thighs. Having trouble determining which is which and where to trim. I have WTF armor. And for the shin/calf and thighs. I have one pair that is short and one pair that is longer of each item
I am also 5'10 168 lbs. Which gives me a good amount to trim off so they fit and I am not 100% sure where I should trim so it fits my leg.
I know the shin thing has been asked a lot. Yet I am still somehow not positive I have them marked correctly.
Thank in advance for your help.

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39741-anh-wtf-1st-build/page-1

---------- I used the ring from my doopy kit on my hyperfirm. So i needed to find a ring for my doopy kit. Home depot 68 cents a foot. I cut off a link to give to a friend for his hyperfirm and used a closed ring for my doopy kit.

I was searching through the white armor threads and came across one on TD's. First time reading through I stopped reading when the measurements seemed ok (my mistake). When I did my first dry fit of the pieces. I saw the plate I cut was crooked. I went back through and reviewed the thread and saw a few others had commented and the dimensions for the cover plate where different. A few posts down, someone posted a pic of a td you had built with dimensions for that. I then checked the crl and recomfirmed the length of 7.5 in/190.5mm and checked for other measurements. (it only mentions clips and pipe diameter) on no info on the plate. My plate is currently at 119-120mm (right between the lines). I have been looking to see if that is acceptable. I have not attached anything on the TD yet, in case i needed to shorten or adjust anything. My clips are also thinner than i like, so i am going to remake them. I will shorten my plate to 115mm when I get home. I remember a post by ukwrath in a build thread where that is the dimensions he used. I did ask about that in my local garrison forum. Thank you for your help the info is appreciated and will be put to use. Here is the link for what i originally read when I was looking for measurements of end caps and plate. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/36227-centurion-spec-thermal-detonator/ -

I plan to measure and mark the other calf piece, and the thigh backs tomorrow night. -

DamnitDavid replied to DamnitDavid's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I proceeded with the thighs this evening. I went ahead and cut the front using the same process i did on the shin. Mark at 10mm, clamp, score, scissors from ends to score line, snap. For the thigh tops and bottoms. I vut at my first taoe line on each. Following advice a local member and his centurian build. I left the 1/8" return edge at the top and 1/4" at the bottom. If i need to trim down more, i left the other tape line on and can do that later. -

Thanks again for the help with that. It is a little pic heavy. (i haven't posted all of them either) If i document before, during, and after. It may help someone else down the road. -

For the shin/calf i marked off the top with 1/8 low tack masking tape. Two passes for 1/4" before and after trimming. If i need less edge then i can do a single pass and trim again. Similar process for the thighs. The tops I did a layer on the return edge and a layer on the outer edge so I can trim for no return edge or 1/8" return edge. I have seen threads with both and have not decided wich one to do. Lastly. Determing which thigh is which. The marked thighs are both shorter. I hve not done any trimming. Just marked them off and I called it done for the night. I may not get to make a lot of progress for the next few days. -

for the calf and shin, i measured my calf and ankle. i also measured the inside of the armor. it appears really bulky at the calf when overlapped and is huge when flush at the back. I need to do some research around the forums, what makes sense to me is to cut it an angle. to remove some of the bulk from the calf, while still being the proper size to fit over my boots. so i think i should cut the white area with the blue X. calf is 40 cm and one half of the armor is 26cm. my ankle is 31.5 cm and about 32-32.5 cm inside the armor (i cant remember the exact measurement my notebook is on the work bench) from sewing i think that would work. -

i taped off above the return edge trimmed with lexan scissors cleaned up with the dremmel and sanded i covered the oencil line with some thin masking tape clamped the ruller and cut scored halfway, flipped and repeated the process from the other end pretty flat with some wiggle room if i need to adjust front and back. i have 1.5-2.5 inches of overlap. after i look more on trimming the backs, i will take that plunge for the top i marked inside the mold line with a pencil, drilled 2 holes to help pivot the scissors and trimmed. i will finish those off when i see how much return edge to leave i switched gears for a minute until i can finish researching my calf pieces. the big piece with all the buttons and the button plate. taped off and trimmed, and the smaller one is nice and thin. i am also looking for how muvh return edge, and the thickness for this piece. will the little dimples in the plastic effect anything or will it be trimmed off? -

i am now looking on how to do this part. here it is marked at 1cm. the majority of that pinched section will get cut off. so that isnt bad. i measured the largest part of my calf and it is at 40 cm the inside of both parts of the are are 26 each so 52 inner diameter i can trim a lot off before i have to worry about the calf being to small. -
