1. Update - Received my response from the leader in the clubhouse...like the price...and it looks like a 4-6 week lead time. That seems about average...so tomorrow (bonus day) may be the big ordering day!!!! I just do not know if I have the patience to wait 4-6 weeks. man...I am excited as it gets!!! REally like the armor pics they sent me (guess I can say it) AM 2.0 armor looks to be the one! In the mean time...I'll go perform my "handling / spotting duties" for the Alabama Garrison at the RO premiere, get to know the fellas, introduce myself, and check out the builds and the tricks of the trade. While this isn't the forum for it...I am going to start on a Vader Saber to get some dirt and marks on that new workbench. I haven't studied this much since School! Found a great thread on a double led strip saber build with real-time sound effects...and figure a Vader will be a 2-3 year project from a cost / build perspective...so why not use my wait time to learn some trick of the trade? Haha! Thanks all! Looking forward to that BBB day!!
 2. Thank you Both! It has been over a week...and being the "research junkie" I am...I did know about the one who has a "real life" job. I sent to both researched "tall trooper" folks. I'll temper my excitement. I am actually looking at doing a TFA build also...have those responses and prices on the helmet and armor. I am just too much of a fan to let the ANH stunt go without it being my first build...almost feel like I would be "betraying" the original trilogy...haha. One thing I do know...I am not alone...and I have all the help I need from the FISD...very much appreciative of all of it. I look forward to giving back where I can. Many Thanks, Jon
 3. All,

I seem to be having a hard time getting the "approved makers" (will not publicly say names...) to respond to e-mails regarding purchasing an armor kit. I have to stick with the kits for larger troopers...does anyone have any suggestions on the matter?

Many Thanks,
 4. Just an update...Workbench is built and ready...have a "kobalt" work stool in my truck bed...dremel 4000 kit in back seat (fyi...they are on sale at lowe's...good price!). Ordering E-11 blaster Friday and have centurion rivet and hand guard kits on the way (thanks joseph & slavefive). Made a "Michael's run" yesterday...got E-6000 elastic, strong magnets, and some other knick knacks. Now...to just order something to work on! Hahaha. May set a record as being the most prepared pre-tk ever!!!
 5. After much research...I have decided on the AM2 armor / helmet for my ANH Stunt build.I sent an e-mail to get that moving / ordered today.

I have Centurion rivets, latex hand guards and boots on the way (tk). I wanted to thank this great group for all the help...Ukswrath, JustJoseph3, Sparky with the Alabama Garrison and slavefive...everyone who has helped as well.

Workbench being set up tomorrow, dremel and tools purchased (mostly)...blaster on the way next week. And I am slated to be a "handler" for the Alabama Garrison at the Rougue One premier troop...really excited about that.

Hate to take up space...but I wanted to really thank everyone for all of the help. Without this great group of people...and the FISD forums...I am confident I would have made a costly mistake. I am grateful to all who have been so helpful and giving of their time...and I hope to be a helpful addition as I work through my build and post my progress. If I can be 1 percent the help to someone that I have received...then I will be a happy guy.

Much more to come! Centurion HERE I COME!
 6. I am in the final decision-making phase. I have it narrowed down to "AM2" as my 1st choice with RT-Mod a close 2nd.

Have to (by the code of my fandom) do an ANH build 1st...then I plan on a TFA build...and then may do Vader due to my height. Once I am assigned my TK # am am trooping (and meet) the Alabama Garrison...I'll see what is needed or would help and take it from there.
 7. Thanks fellas! Heading to get dremel tomorrow!
 8. With all my "noob" research...and as I move to start on my "FISD" workbench and tools for the "BBB" day...I do have a question.

Looking at the "kit assemble" (which is, due to my height & slim build...clearly the best way to go based on all the great research available) I was curious from the group if anyone felt there was any advantage to having an air compressor / saw / die grinder set up over the dremel? Mainly for the air saw ease of use vs. the "tin snip / exacto blade score and snap"?

Am I overthinking here...or would this be a time-saver and give me a smaller chance of a mistake during the build? Thinking the fast & smooth cut of an air saw will help me fit / shave to fit easier and faster?

May be splitting hairs here.. but with this great group...I thought asking would be the better part of valor.

Many Thanks,

Jon
 9. I am a slim build @ 175 lbs...so I will have a look at that kit. As always...you guys are the best! Thanks for all of the help and the time. Means a bunch!
 10. Hi all...new trooper here...just starting. After much research...I think with my 6'2 frame...Rob's armor is my best option. I do have a question, however.

I am around 170-180 lbs / thin frame. I am curious as to what mods need to be made to "reduce down bulkiness" being so thin. And if so...do I run the risk of becoming approval ineligible if I have to mod it too much? I am learning as I go...and am not afraid to tackle projects...I just want to be sure I am not sacrificing height fit vs. Body-style fit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks!
 11. Great stuff! Thanks a bunch folks! I really appreciate all the help and will get to studying!
 12. Hi fellow Troopers!

Jon here from Alabama...and I am thrilled to begin this journey! I had a couple of tech questions to start...I am doing a lot of research...but these are basic questions on starting:

1. Looking at "kits" should I assume that the "anovos" kits are the best "do it yourself" for armor? I am starting with original trilogy / Stormtrooper to get my feet wet...then moving on to other detailed builds.

2. Helmet...should I assume the same (anovos) with the helmet? Or...having looked...as long as I make the appropriate modifications to spec...can I use the "Black Series" Hasbro helmet I recently purchased (and what started me on this journey) as long as the mods spec out?
3. I am 6'2...a lot of what I have seen armor-wise stops at 6'0...do I buy / modify...or does someone have a better suggestion?

Guys (and gals)...I am thrilled and excited to get started. I told my beautiful wife about it...and she is "very happy I get to meet like-minded folks" and thinks this is great! So...with that blessing...I am IN! Haha!

Thanks ahead of time for any help. It is very appreciated!

Jon
