blue ear cap stripes in my FX kit?
Lan-Ed-Tul replied to Lan-Ed-Tul's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
yeah this kit had blue tube stripes but they were the large sized ones, i got the smaller ones to go on it. guess i will have to hand paint the black stripes on the ears then, thanks guys. Scott -
i was ready to put on the ear cap stripes, so i peeled off the backin paper and seen the ones that came in my FX kit are DARK BLUE!!!! the other FX lid i bought froma guy completed, has BLACK ear cap stripe on them. so which is correct? the DARK BLUE ones that come in my FX kit or BLACK? all pics i seen, i thought they were black myself. could be wrong i guess, thats why im asking. cuz if black, then i have to hand paint the stripes myself. thanks for any input to my questions. you DONT understand what i meant. i made shim pieces, and rivoted the elastic to THOSE, then glued the shims in place. NO rivot, except in the shim pice only connecting the elastic. if ya like, i can try to take a pic of it if that helps to clear up your misconception of what i was saying.

how do you remove the old FX decals from tube area
Lan-Ed-Tul replied to Lan-Ed-Tul's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
cool, my lid i got isnt painted in those spots, but i will have to watch the frown corners as i DID repaint those after i cut out the vents. thanks guys. -
i was thinkin of velcro on the back to strap. but i see no reason why a single rivot on the front is not good. i only put one in the center on the end/ and the one i will put in the middle is only there to hold the half of the snap on the underside to attach bells to. i guess i could, i suppose grind off the rivot, peel back the velcro on that ens some, and abs glue it in place, but really i dont see why the single rivot is gonna do any harm, the way i did it, at least.

gloss black model masters paint is what i used.

i got a 2 temp heat gun. but on the bells, i used a piece of abs and rivoted the elastic to it. did that on each end, then abs glued the pieces with elastic rivoted on them to the inside lower edges. that keeps the bells pulled right up against my bicep pieces and arms. works totally great. a freind used snap method, and theyre always poppin loose, mine will never do that, unless the abs glue breaks loose.

i used a rivot on the chest to attach it, a rivot in the center over the shoulderswith a snap underneath to attach the bells straps to. i run a length of white velcro all the way on the underside of the shoulder straps before i did anything, that makes the straps a lil more strengthened up for stress. i was plannin on rivoting the back plate on as well, so it will slip on like a pullover shirt, then just fasten bottom ends together with elastic with velcro on end end. found a nice tutorial on it, of course i gotta get the wife to help set and mark the backplate positions to the straps, so i know where to place back rivots.

also in the hardware store in electrical i run across a whole box of nothing but those white wall plate screws i grabbed them, a couple bucks for like 20 screws.

HOW TO REQUEST: Bucket Electronics
Lan-Ed-Tul replied to Mr_Vader's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
RS amp requires a powered mike to work, FYI -
so the holster get stuck right at the end of the front ammo boxes on the left, that is what it appears to me anyways, and from the previous pics posted, that makes the holster pretty much hang over your left buttcheek more than at your side, is that pretty much right?

kinda what i was leaning towards. glued front and velcroed backs. i made the biceps and theyre glued front anf back/ foreamrs are gonna have to be shimmed. the part near the elbow end, my arm is bigger round, so i gotta kinda wedge shape shim it so its bigger on that end. thighs, i was thinkin of the webbelt around my waist idea, with a strap comin down to snap insisde the thighs. did the bells and biceps that way so they hang right. and gonna put a snap under the shoulder bridges to hook the bells/biceps setup to on each side. so i might just make those solid as suggested. i will glue the front, and test fit, and see how hard it is to get it up and down the leg, if it hard, then velcro will be used on backs. reinforced the bridges straps with fuzzy velcro to aid in stress relief. rivoting the front and back to bridges. then i just slip it on like a shirt, snap the bells straps in place, velcro, with elastc to connect the bottom ends to gether front to back. thanks for all the advice and input guys. after building my Vader to get in the 501st with, a trooper is a bit diff to put together, therefore all the questions, i hope y'all dont mind? cuz i wanted a trooper as a backup for 501st events on other states. see here in OK. im the ONLY 501st vader. so i get priority, but if i go outta state, and theres a vader from that areas garrison, unless we worked out a swapout vader time deal, i needed a different costume, so thats why i decided to do a trooper. gives me more options that way.

so basically every outward facing or forward facing seam glue, and if possible glue the back and if not, use velcro? kinda what i thought, but wanted to ask to make sure. i know i will have to shim the biceps, mine arm larger than they are by a lil bit. im in process of puttin a FX kit together, and havent got tothe arms and legs parts yet, as im still workin the main body parts first. thanks for the input and advise. much appreciated. Scott

not to hijack, but i have a question, do most everyone glue the fronts or the outside seams, and use velcro on the backside or inside seams? im talking bout the leg and arm armor pieces.

im fixin to fill mine in in much the same way as i seperated the cod and butt plate. i was wondering the same thing, do i cut it like in the pic? angled from the top front to the back top? Scott

yeah i got my troopercom, and tried the powered tie clip and standard headphone boom mike with a RS amp i got,, way too much feedback no matter which mike i used, i tried a newton amp, and got good volume but that things way too big to use on a trooper, but would work great for my vader with the V2 unit.
