  1. There is the Anovos Stormtrooper Kit Building Group, TK Armor's Costuming Group (specific to AM Armor), WTF: Walt's Trooper Factory and tons more. Walt has some good helmet building videos and Eric Dyck has posted some great videos on assembling helmets in various groups, but he's easily found on the TK Armor page. I enjoy hearing ideas and opinions on different armors and seeing people build their kits, so I join new groups all the time. Once you join one, it seems Facebook likes to suggest others.
  2. Honestly a little bit of both. If you find some other AM 2.0 builds, they usually mention it, too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. The AM 2.0 biceps are a bit of a pain, I still am not a huge fan of how mine fit. But did a lot of hot water bath attempts to make them more rounded and less U shaped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yes. All of your limbs have cover strips that are visible in two spots (front and rear). Biceps, forearms, thighs and shins. I put inner strips on for strength in all my pieces as well, but that’s up to the builder since they aren’t seen. Strongly suggest them on the shins, though, because of the way they open and close. It puts a lot of stress on that joint that runs down the frontz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Not a big deal. You can just cut where you need to make it fit, then the cover strip will cover up any uneven edge. Make the cover strip long enough to go to the end of the longest piece. Or you can trim it even, since it’ll all be covered Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Bumps go on the outside of the arm. The cover strip will be on top and lines up with the cover strip on the front of your bicep Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Looks awesome! In addition to the over-the-palm elastic on the clamshell hand plates, I also used industrial strength velcro to keep them in place. Works really well. It also allows you to remove the hand plates and put them on a glove more comfortable for trooping, like the nomex ones most people use. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I did watch a couple videos just to get an idea of what I was I doing (had never done anything remotely like this before). TrooperBay has a nice series of videos. I watched all of those for his sandy (again I was just watching to see how to cut and fit and do cover strips, etc). Something like “building accurate stormtrooper armor” on YouTube Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I used ukswrath anovos and his am 1.0 build thread and just disregarded the anovos and 1.0 specific stuff. Also sharkbait and Navajo Bros. Builds are pretty much the same regardless of armor maker, except for a couple small things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Looks like a good start. I had to do the hot water bath to make my bicep pieces more of a round shape instead of the more U shape that they came. Added some room and comfort. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. There is a lot of info about this on the site on the ANH threads. They are suggestions. Since the AM suit is upscaled a bit, you can go a little larger than the recommendation (a few mm or so). Most seem to stay with recommended sizes on front and go a little larger on back if needed. Here are the notes I have from when I was trying to figure it out. Double check with the other threads though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Also, the dome will straighten out a bit when you attach the face plate. It'll definitely pull the sides in a bit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I did not cut that ridge off on mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Just approved! TK-14256 requesting 501st Access http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=24399 Thanks!
  15. Big day! Woke up to a message telling me that I am approved at TK-14256 Still need to adjust some things for higher levels, especially my side straps so that the pieces coming from the kidney section covering my sides don't stick out wider that my ab section. Pretty excited, though, as this is my first build of anything like this. Also went to my first troop (unofficially) at a Bowl For Kids Sake event with a Star Wars theme for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Can't wait to troop as an approved TK, now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Need to cut the back of the thighs for movement. Will this work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks. I was using old measurements from a ukswrath build and found out later that they were off. I'll fix those when I get a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Here are the pics of my shims...the one side is cut a little uneven, but when its fastened together, it sits flush. I guess my body is shaped weird. Insides Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Good to know. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I went overboard on the shim support, about 90% of the seam is covered with abs shim supports! I was worried about the dried paste cracking. Saw some threads where that happened. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Definitely. Hoping to make some abs paste this weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Ask as many as you'd like. So many people have helped and continue to help me, I'm happy to do the same. As soon as I get home this evening, I'll take some pictures for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Not with a ruler. I attached large shims to the kidney plate on either side then put the armor on and held it all together. Then I marked where the shims overlapped the ab plate and did score-snap to remove the excess. Maybe not the easiest way (I needed a helper), but that's how my mind works sometimes and it ended up working well for sizing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
