Does anybody put anything on the bottom of the shins to help protect the boots?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI put a 1/4” strip of white felt in the front. Seems to help a little.

Thanks for taking the initiative, I was going to put something together. Now I don’t have to. I’ll likely still have some tips to add myself.
I assume technician = handler? I suppose what we call them is a regional thing.

Thanks guys for your advice, you helped me a lot! RS does offers a smooth helmet and TM offers a whole bundle containing everything. I gotta say both of them are really nice and helpful! It‘s not easy for me to decide wheter to buy RS or TM. There‘s one more thing I want to ask: TM offers a 2mm ABS acrylic capped armor. Whats the difference between this one and the 1,5mm gloss ABS?
Pros/Cons, the capped is more durable but harder to repair (no ABS paste option to fill in gaps/oopsies when building), should be more resistant to yellowing, but less flexible and harder to cut/drill. Also shinier/whiter as Steve mentioned.

The DOs have a backlog from the holiday break, they'll be with you in due time. You haven't been forgotten.

When I attach the belt it appears to encroach on the buttons. It’s not covering them but does cover the bottom edge of the plate and comes close to bottom button. Is this ok? Figure if I have to move something now would be the time.
Nope, this is film accurate, nothing to worry about:

Congratulations. Look forward to your EI and Centurion applications (hopefully)!

The canister (assume you have end caps and control panel) is just gray sewer pipe. The clips can be bought right here on the forum:

Report
We trooped the Kids Kottage (with R2 in tow) right before Christmas. The Kids Kottage is an emergency shelter for children needing somewhere to stay atter being removed from thier homes for abuse/neglect/other bad stuff. Nothing puts a smile on their faces more than seeing a bunch of 'bad guys doing good'. We took photos, (attempted) to play some basketball, and handed out swag. Great way to wrap up the year.

Just now getting a chance to document some of these, some of these photos aren't new but the rest is playing catch up...

That photo was after the first attempt at fitting. Walking around revealed problems, which we addressed for the second try. Very important for me was to completely tighten up the shoulder joints. It's a three-handed task, so I pressed in my chest piece while my friend pressed in on my back and tightened up the shoulder connections. (Velcro is a good first step: It's adjustable.) With the shoulders joined up the whole chest-cod-back-kidnet-butt assembly rode higher. We were then able to lower the thighs a bit. The shins keep riding up; I think I will reduce the return edges at the bottom end.
I'm beginning to think that there needs to be a collection of TK Armor Fitting Wisdom (I suppose I could forage through these threads for material), or that The Collection of TK Armor Fitting Wisdom, which I have not yet found, needs to be pinned somewhere.
I'd be pleased if there were a patch for TK Armor Technicians which handlers and helpers could be awarded and wear with pride and recognition. That would be a great thread, I'll put that in my idea book (TM).
Re: shins, I had the same problem. Some people make stirrups, I ended up using velcro ties to keep the shin/boots where I wanted them.

Hit up your local Garrison would be my recommendation.

Nope, those forums are only for people who are already members. Some guy in Malaysia selling a pair, you are better off getting a pair from ImperialBoots or TKBoots (IF they still have your size in stock, email them to check).

No problems with stairs with your thighs going all the way to the cod?

Hey Dana, are those PLA snap plates? I used ABS for my snap plates and (knock on wood, I'll check when I get home) I see no deformation on my armor where I installed plates and I too used Tandy snaps, which makes me wonder if it's a reaction to the plastic, not the snaps.

Congratulations trooper!

What are you looking for? Extreme film accuracy, durability, metal/rubber/etc? Lots of options (albiet less than ANH).
-
Any of these kits should work, some come with the sandtrooper-y parts whilst others you may need to purchase seperately or make them yourself. Best to head over there for advice on which kits are preferred by MEPD as I’d have no idea.

Welcome aboard!
We have a new Pre-Approval section if you have completed armor, then you will know for sure.

I feel so woefully inadequate.
Currently just have the ANH-S TK, working on a FOTK right now (blaster and soft goods done, waiting on armor) and then would like to do a Shadow TB at some point.
-
Ripples, bubbles etc. It literally liquefies ABS.
-
I recall them saying something about the USPS price hike hurting margins, too. Probably a host of things.
There’s another thread on the topic, here:
-
Great to hear!
-
Also how tall are you? Height and weight would help with any advice.
-
Very clean. Wish my snaps were that consistent!

Every troop I’ve been to its usually handlers or other troopers helping me in/out of armor, FWIW.
