Oh, and the boots are those rubbish ones, and his hands are covered with duct tape because his gloves won't go on properly, but y'know...

...get a bad word or two directed their way...
BUT!
.
I'm really happy with my purchase!
The mannequin (Manakkin Sywalker) arrived today, and this is the first time I've had everything put together.
I know it's not 501st approvable without a good bit of work, but for now, I think he looks pretty cool

(Jaunty leg angle is unfortunate but unavoidable )

The Husky boxes look great when they're all pimped out though

Thanks... Made a wrist strap, bracelet, whatever it'd be called... This leather was softer and easier to get a good imprint

That's just on bare, undyed/finished leather to show the imprint. I made a luggage tag for a friend on darker leather and it came out really nice. That looks cool!
Even made a couple of scout woggles (the thing that holds the neckerchief in place), looked pretty cool.

Darman offers his holsters in 4 (I believe) and 8 ounce leather. I'm unsure about the lower number only because I've ordered two 8 ounce versions from him. The 8 ounce leather works very nicely, in my opinion.
Excellent, thanks.

Fresh outta the oven"This is probably the best stormtrooper helmet available out there."
What the seller says could be true...from a certain point of view. Where exactly is, "out there"? The seller's ktchen?

Good feedback!
I've been leatherworking for a couple of years and just made a thin prototype holster. I wasn't sure if the 8oz veg tan I normally work with was going to be too thick, but seems it's ideal!
I'll set about making the 8oz version soon.

Lol... I've never seen that film, might have to look it up
.
As a side note, the Aker is a chunky little unit, isn't it? Much heavier than i'd imagined. Looks like the mic supplied will be easy enough to fix inside the helmet, too.

When using the amp and mic, I give a sharp blow to the mic with my breath... It works, and some have complimented me on sound effects lol. May also add a click in there using my tongue against the roof of mouth... Test it out, see what works for you... Trial and error.
Genius, that works perfectly! Thanks!

PSN same as here: humperdingle

Ok, so I got the Aker MR1505 12w voice amp. I simply can't afford to buy one of the random static burst units, so I need to fake it
Searched the threads here a bit, to no avail, so what sort of sound is best?
I found a short, sharp "Kssht" was best.
Any ideas?

I need a tutorial for this...Does the first time I needed to use the bathroom during a convention count as a horror story? It had a happy ending, but I figured out the wrong way to strap a Stormtrooper suit together.
.
Maybe not a video, though . My undersuit is one piece, so is gonna be a tricky thing to achieve!

Thanks, folks!
.
.It wouldn't take a lot of work to get yourself 501st approved. We have a SDS trooper in our group and his kit looks fine.

That's reassuring. There has to be a place for folks with 'lesser' armour I think it looks great personally

Hi everyone, Scotland calling!

Long-time 40-something Star Wars (in particular, Stormtrooper) fan...

Now, I know this isn't the done thing for most folkson this board, and others, as far as I can see, but...

Upon researching youtube, watching some vids, etc, I purchased an armour set-up from Shepperton Design (yes, burn me now, for I have sinned )

I wanted a stormtrooper kit "now", as I had the money sitting. From past experience, I know that if I waited a year or so to save up the extra money for an RS trooper, I'd have used the money for something other than a stormtrooper outfit.

But anyway, it's done, I got it next day, instead of weeks later, and I'm happy with it! I'm not wanting to be 501st approved, so it's absolutely good enough for what I'll be using it for, which is making appearances at a kids' hospital - specifically the oncology ward - who helped us so much when my daughter was sick.

So that's me - evil Shepperton owner from Scotland.

Glad to be here, and I'm keeping busy reading the various tutorial forums first.

Cheers all!
Mark.
Now... I know Shepperton Studios...

Thanks, they're a bit loose-fit for me, so I'll get a better pair and keep these on the mannequin.
