Drilled all the holes. I left sections undrilled. One will be for some kind of rubber grip, one will be to add 'something', haven't got that far yet.
Mocked-up inside the blaster.

Alrighty, thought i'd drill the barrel sleeve vent holes today. Used the 40mm pipe template (laminated, so I can re-use).
Then used an awl to puncture pilot holes.

It does. If nothing else, it's cleaner, too! It'll never get as glossy as those acrylic-capped suits but it's much better than before. I did use an improvised contraption on the drill - a backing arbor and some sponge/cloth, and it worked really well on the only part I used it on, which had a few light scratches (chest plate), which is now pretty reflective. You can tell the difference by touch, too. A lot smoother.Lol. Does it look shinier?

Hi, yeh, I gave all parts a polish, mostly by hand because of the contours of the armour. I need to buy a smallish buffer attachment for the drill. It wasn't helping my tennis elbow!Any more luck polishing your armour up ?

Very close to my heart this. Having seen first hand, how important it is to give sick kids a glimmer of happiness, this is just the kind of thing i've volunteered to do. I've partnered-up with a couple of local kids' cancer charities, who can call me to do visits to the oncology ward.
I say it's close to my heart because my daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2009, having just turned 9. Smiles and laughter are extremely valuable at such times
A huge well done to you guys

This pic shows how the pipe will fit within the 'cradle'. Snug fit indeed.
This is the little internal 'barrel', gizmo. Oddly, it spins round when the trigger is pulled. Has a few very weak LEDs along the side and on tip.
-
Plastic muzzle cap was removed with a bit of gentle persuasion.
The plastic is VERY brittle, and really didn't appreciate me trying to cut it, so I drilled a series of holes where I needed to remove the plug, which will allow the 40mm pipe to be inserted.
Once done on both sides, the bits just snapped easily out.
Then sanded the inside edges smooth(ish) with Dremel and sanding drum.

So, started off like this:
Opened it up. All screws are same size. Handy for putting it back together!

I've noticed that "Lesser-thought-of" armour posts mostly get ignored. Mostly.
Probably just a 'If you can't say anything good' mentality?

I hear ya.I'd honestly rather have no burst than to try and emulate it with my voice lol.

I'd bought that for polishing armour and removing little scratches, etc. It removed some black holster marks off mine really easily, too.Yeah - Happens on mine too. You can also try Novus products. I use this one that buffs and brings back shine:

Hey folks, got one of these: Galactic Wars Space Gun Blaster with Flashing Lights and Sounds (One Size, Grey/Blue/Black) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019OKSK7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_8mEZwbAJJS4CG
(Not from Amazon, but direct from Toyrific (still £9.99 delivered). The front vented part looks somewhat similar to the DT-57 heavy blaster, so I thought i'd use up some of the 40mm black pipe I bought for my E-11 to build a made-up heavy blaster. I'll kinda make it up as I go along but have taken the blaster to bits to check the innards, weight it with Plasticine, etc, then drill some vent holes in the 40mm pipe.
I'll post up some pics of the butchered blaster in a bit.

Blasters can be a money pitThat's the kit I ordered along with a few other goodies. Bought the counter and scope from dd, the muzzel kit from Aron, a few shape ways pieces by themainthesuitcase power cells, end cap, front site guide and back cap latch. Bought the scope monoclonal off ebay to modify my resin scope, (the link was given to me from here)
excited but still waiting
My scratch build cost me under £10, though.
Looks like £2.50 worth

Doopydoos has the pipe detail kit available but you need the pvc and template
Yeh, I noticed that. Already did a complete scratch build E-11 and used the template. Might get that kit anyway, as it's pretty cheap.

Yeh the RS stuff looks nice, and gets very good feedback. If you were a bit closer, you'd be welcome to have a look at my SDS. I'll probably start saving the pennies for an RS kit myself, but happy with the SDS just now. That's the million dollar question, I knew RS do a full custom build and SDS but they're the only 2 that I know who do it and out of the 2 it's a no brainer for RS...
If I had the time to do a kit it would be TM but I don't know if he does commissions...
If there was a list of builders that do it'd give me the info I need but if there is I can't find it so again I think I need somebody's superior knowledge on this...

What kit are you leaning towards?OK so it seems from these replies there is no stigma to buying a commission build, that's OK then...
Thanks to the guys that replied and I'll be ordering mine next month

You have a guy already in the UKG making his own rubber E-11's. Ask around on the UKG forum.
Thanks, i've just registered on the UKG site.
-
I was surprised - despite the name 'weld' - just how quickly the pipe weld grabs! Not much room for 'tweaking'.
-
Hyperfirm not available in UK?
RS Propmasters not supplying blasters unless with a kit?
Doopydoos always out of stock?
SDS blaster looks reeeeeally rough on the up-close videos i've seen.

So where do I get a decent-looking, reasonably priced E-11 in the UK??
-
I didn't have a) The time, b. The inclination, c) The patience and d) The requisite skills, to do a build-from-kit, so I bought a ready-to-wear SDS. People already seem to frown upon SDS stuff, so I wasn't bothered about them frowning upon my lack of self-buildRight so I've been wanting to own stormtrooper armour since the age of 9 and decided yes I'm going to get it...
Problem is my job, I'm a truck driver and I get in the truck on a Sunday then get out of it on a Friday... I don't have the time to build because Saturday is doing shopping paying bills etc and I need a bit of time to chill...
So I guess I want to know the attitude towards commissioning someone to do it for me, is it frowned upon by the members that spent so many many hours painstakingly building their own?
And what status would a commissioned set be able to reach? Acceptance? EIB? Centurion?
I would have loved to build my own but with the small amount of time I have spare it's not really viable and limited space in the truck means I can't build it in there...
I'd like people's honest opinions on this issue please...

I got the exact same one. He's been proudly displaying the stormtrooper armour Only took about 3 days from Germany!
only issue I had was the jaunty leg. I'd assumed the leg could be swiveled to straighten it, but apparently not.
Great value, though.
Edit: I had an issue with the hands wearing gloves, as his fingers are fused together, so nicked a pair of the wife's black tights, cut them down and put the feet of the tights on his hands, taping them on the forearm.

Ok, the lack of any folding stock effort was annoying me, so at the extreme cost of £0, I bolted one on

Is it an SDS outfit?

Loving some of the time-saving bits of this blaster - Whilst drilling all those holes, I contemplated using an internal barrel. It just so happens, there is a 15mm cradle for a 15mm pipe to sit in
Nice! Also, put some white filler in the cavities for weight.
