The Official 2017 What is a Heavy Weapons Trooper Thread
CrookKnight replied to Daetrin's topic in Heavy Weapons Trooper
I love this. Look at all of those packs. Plus I love playing the game. My version 3 Magamtrooper ensemble (pack, respirator, shin armor) should be very accurate to the game. I designed my Jump Pack straight from the game and the Red Stormtrooper uses what I call the Battlefront Shocktrooper Pack. I will post some pics and my thoughts later tonight when I get a chance. -
But seriously....I do feel for MEPD that they do not have a lot of choices. However, assignments to Legions CRL's should be made on the facts from the movies, games, etc... If you made a checklist for TD vs HWT, you would see that the only check you could put on the TD side would be the pack from Rogue One. However, you could put that same checkmark on the HWT side, plus the armor is the same. If it was TD armor, then I would say it is MEPD. Both the Jedha and Kyber Stormtroopers have the TK armor and just different pack variants. As a maker of packs (I have made the Jedha and the Kyber has been designed) I have thoroughly inspected the elements of the armor and packs. This is my 2 cents and is not meant to be insult anyone.

Being an HWT myself, I feel it belongs with FISD. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

I have been working on the R1 Jedha Pack and am torn on this one. Not seen in the movie, but in deleted scenes and now a toy, is another pack people are calling the R1 Jedha Sandtrooper Type 4 pack. It has a frame similar to that of the traditional Sandtrooper Packs and appears to be configured in a manner that would allow for walking in the desert for extended periods of time. The pack seen above appears to be that of a Heavy Weapons nature (i.e. the grenade holder) and the TK is wearing all of the traditional TK pieces. The only reason I see that it could be called a Sandtrooper is that is it dirty. As you know in some of the scenes (in the beginning when Jyn Erso is being transported by TK's, these are dirty TK's. My vote is for this to be a R1 HWT. However, I will accept whatever the outcome.

Starting to wonder if I'll ever receive my armor. Just waiting for the email saying it's got delayed another quarter. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Nice picture. Just so you know for that pack I used the metal lock box and the thicker base. All other boxes were vac formed. I now 3D print all of those boxes including the siphon cone. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Space Pack - Needs a repair

Here is the improved version of the bracing and horizontal tube. This is a quick picture, since I have to get offline. I will upload more, shortly. Long story short, it is much stronger. -

Everything is ready to go for the improved tubing and bracing. I will post some pics in the next day or 2 so you can see what I will be sending you. Also, I have some special hooks (the kind used on bike racks that attach to the back of your car) that I am going to try out as an option for attachment of the pack base plate to the back plate of the TK armor. I think it will work very well. It would be braced both in the vertical and the horizontal direction. Joseph, your pack is next on my list. -
Not sure if I have the Topic Title 100% correct, but I will change it if needed. I have decided to build the other pack in Rogue One. I know there are discussions as to whether or not this one will be a Heavy Weapons Trooper Pack under FISD or a Sandtrooper Pack under MEPD. I will let others work out those details. Anyways, this pack had to be 100% designed, as the parts are not readily available in the real world. Below are the reference photos and the current 3D model that I will be using. Keep in mind the 3D model does not show everything. Still need the TD's on the left side and complete the antenna. It is hard to figure out what the frame is going to be. I have not seen any pics from the back. Current 3D Model.

Printing the last part for the fix. Going to strengthen it by allowing a 3/4" pvc tube go through these pieces. Also, the support is thicker and will have a bolt going through the pvc, throught the support and into the main body. -

Space Pack - Needs a repair
CrookKnight replied to Daetrin's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
After taking a closer look at it, I am going to add a brace to the top left portion of the white tube that goes up at an angle. In addition, the black tube that connects the pipe coming out of the main cylinder to the white pipe that cracked is going to be made of printed material. This will help transfer the load thruought the pack and not just on a single piece. As soon as I get it redesigned, I will send you these replacement pieces. Thank you for the advice. -

Good idea. It looks like it definitely needs some more bracing underneath it to keep it from cracking. I will get it designed and print one and send it with your replacement. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
