  1. Yeah i talked to them because i was looking at the padding, they suggested i go with the liner because they were unsure if the padding would fit an MRCE. Buuut i suppose i could always get the liner and stuff things between the liner and the helmet (like socks) to make it squish right on to my head, because seriously nothing adult sized fits my head....sometimes the largest of kids do but hats never fit me, nor do sunglasses (look way too big on my head) so if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM as to how the liner holds up i may give it a look! Also can anyone point me to a thread or to pics of DMAC's work? with all the interest you guys have in his stuff i can't ignore your advice thanks for all the feedback ~Brad
  2. So! my MRCE is on its way and i know i definitly don't want to just go with whatever padding they give me so i was just wondering what other people have tried or currently use for best fit! i've been looking into the stuff from fenixprops but they told me they make it for FX and couldn't tell me if it'd fit aN MRCE so it'd also be greatly appreciated if anyone knew if it does fit or can be trimmed/modded to fit (talking about the padding, not the liner) because i have a seriously tiny head and i'd like it to fit snug and tight, annnnd with the climate i am in i am not worried about heat at all ----------------<---- link to other thread about the "stormtrooper padding" i am interested in ~Brad
  3. Canada actually, no radioshacks where i live but there is some about half an hour drive from where i live. I've had a look at the site a bit, but to be completely honest i have no idea about any of the electrical stuff i might see something cool but have no idea what it does or how i'd use it ~Brad
  4. I'd really like to put in some kind of kickass switch anywhere (on the side with a small push switch under the rubber would be amazing) but i honestly just have no idea how to do any of that stuff i have no experiance with switches or putting anything like this together and i actually am still waiting on my bucket to even get here to me..... so i am kinda going for the most simple solution, but if anyone has any other resources i can use or reference i'd LOVE to try and tackle it. My biggest issue is lack of knowledge and having no clue where to purchase such things!!! But, as always... thanks for the quick and helpful replies!! ~Brad
  5. All awesome ideas but i think we are going the cheaper way of doing things. Getting the radio shack mini amp, with a little lapel mic that you can mount to the inside of the helmet. then use a cheap-ish set of kids walkie talkie that will fit inside, because we won't be that far from each other. And i guess he just gets to hear everything i say, but we were talking and we're going to just have a word or something to start and end every conversation so we know when to listen and when not to.... all of course just to get the ball moving. Maybe once i have a bit more cash and know a little more i will make an upgratde (i like the idea of that push switch) but we will see!! ------------ Input is always welcome, and if i am heading straight into a huge mistake please feel free to let me know ~Brad
  6. So i am looking for the best way to communicate to my friends (we plan on doing a lot of troops together and want to keep contact all day) anyway so we want walkie talkies to be hidden/built into our buckets. Has anyone tried this or know of any good ideas?? Also we would like to have a cheap, yet decent quality voice changer so we sound right to all the little kids around
  7. I am ordering my own on tuesday it'll be the first step toward getting a whole armour done!
  8. Yeah, i have an impressivly tiny head and live in a fairly cool climate so i think this padding looks right for me.....but not too sure if it will fit an MRCE bucket :S i'd hate to get it and have it not even fit the helmet. But i am hoping for the best and probably ordering soon ~Brad
  9. So all is being sorted out but in order to finalize everything they do the 2 small deposits of course, buuuut i checked my bank account online and i see no such deposits yet paypal says it was deposited yesterday. Is this just my bank being slow orrrr should i be worried? ~Brad
  10. Thanks Smitty and A-Bomb, you guys seem to answer a lot of my questions i am just nervous about purchases online i guess but thanks for the tips! and i am looking to buy very little off E*** its just there are a few things that you really can't find anywhere else from what i have seen but thats okay! its all an experiance right? Again thanks a lot for your always speedy and helpful replies, you guys all rock! ~Brad
  11. So i just signed up for a paypal account specifically for building my own armour. While i wait for it to do its thing with verifying my bank etc i had a question i hoped you guys here could help me out with! Because I know there's probably quick and easy (painless?) answer that i can get from you guys that would take some time hunting on their site to find. What is the procedure in doing business with another individual, such as looking in a gloves thread and all the guy leaves is an e-mail to paypal him.... what happens? what do i have to do? Also i guess any internet buying tips are welcomed i have never bought anything off the internet before and need to know whats safe and the do's and don'ts. And i am sorry if i have a lot of questions about dumb things floating around the boards, its all just new to me so i am being careful. Thanks for all the great support!! ~Brad
  12. Yeah, i am definitly nervous as to trimming and doing it correctly and making it flush and even and everything because i've never done anything like this and i really don't know how i'd go about doing it properly or what tools i'll need. i'm getting my helmet first so i think i can handle that with all the info already provided on the board buuut when i get my FX lite in another month or so everyone better be ready for A LOT of questions comming out of me!
  13. Okay thats good to hear! i was worried about dumping money into this and having it not fit
  14. hahaha well actually i don't know inches i just told someone how tall i was in metric and they told me that i am that tall! (180cm ish)
  15. So i've decided to go for the FX lite kit as i have no experiance and i plan to eventually modify to be more accurate in the long run (or maybe even a complete upgrade) its just that right now i don't have the cash for a better one, nor do i have the experiance to build it properly and confidently. ANYWAY i've been reading that FX is generally larger than other armors out there. Now i am without a doubt the skinniest guy i know, 5''12' and 125lb with a 29 waist and i was just wondering if this is going to look huge on me or if i can trim it to still work? what are my options?? And as always thanks for the amazing support i already know i'll recieve ~Brad
  16. I am thinking of picking up an MRCE bucket soon and was wondering if anyone knew how well this padding would fit because it would be fantastic to have something like that considering i have a fairly small head
