Hello and welcome! I'm in the same boat as you, privileged to be associated with this forum and hope to join the ranks of the 501st as well. Awesome that you have friends of the GGG!

Aaron my man! I'm sorry I am the reason you are earless... However there is a way to convert Stunt ears to Hero, I saw it on here a while back.
I'm totally not laughing at your misfortune Aaron, but when I read the first part of Dave's statement here I literally started laughing out loud

Yes the hooks are for the elastics and were used in ANH - you can see them when Han is sitting in the control room with Chewy and the Boss's kid
Ah ok very cool..didn't know that!

Yes the adjustment knob fits - even with my big heed
haha! my big nahgan is what I'm worried about too!
the bicep hooks are they to just keep them straps from possibly riding up? I never seemed to have that problem with my last armor.
-
Awesome progress! Per your hard hat liner, I was looking at one of those too but wasn't sure about the tension adjustment knob. That clears just fine inside the helmet?
I'm stuck between this or pads..meh
-
Very cool...did you velcro it to the helmet too or is it snug enough to just sit in the helmet?
-
I've purchased numerous pads on Amazon and Ebay and nothing seemed to fit. I also wanted a interchangeable, adjustable and washable solution. So after long deliberation and returns I went with the x-liner. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. my 2 cents...
Originally I purchased a medium 3/4 but ultimately went with the XL 3/4
http://www.gibson-barnes.com/prod-294519/Hgu55-Xliner.html
X Liner is Gentex’s most advanced high-tech helmet fitting system. It is comfortable, cool, clean, and easy to install.
Inside the revolutionary X Liner are two layers of visco-elastic comfort foam that instantly and continuously adjust to your head. The soft inner layer adjusts quickly as you fly it fits perfectly, eliminates hot spots, and stabilizes your helmet. The firmer outer layer adjusts more slowly and its firmness helps keep your helmet from bottoming out.
You can enjoy the self-adjusting comfort of X-Liner even in hot or cold weather because the visco elastic foam used in the X-Liner is not sensitive to temperature. Other visco elastic foams become too hard in cold weather and are too soft in hot weather.
X Liner’s unique design promotes air circulation and increases evaporation so you stay cool. Your helmet will also be more stable as X Liner’s shape eliminates roll and creep.
Antimicrobial X-static© fabric keeps X Liner clean and odor free. X-Static fabric is made with a layer of 99.9% pure silver bonded to the surface of the fiber to kill odor-causing bacteria, eliminate static, and conduct heat away from you.
Installing your X-liner is simple. Adjust its shape with four strips of Velcro© and place it in your helmet where five pieces of Velcro© keep it in place.
Oh this is awesome! And it doesn't sit too high? You can still see ok? Is it a snug fit around your head?

10 years ago?? Wow, I didn't realize AP has been around for that long. That's awesome!
-
Good luck bud! I just ordered mine too and look forward to your build!

Thanks for sharing that! Looks good!

May I suggest once you have your armor start a "Pre-Assembled armor fitment modifications" or similar thread in the "How To" forums
Ok sounds good Tony..I'll do that. I have yet to see a thread like that on here, probably because most do the build themselves. Thanks!
-
I was thinking, should I start a build thread even though I ordered the pre-built version? Or should I just post the mods I may/will probably make in the Assembly Mods section?
-
Looking good so far! Want to see how this turns out.

Quick update mate: I'm about half way through the mod and things are going as planned.
You mean you're half way to having things become 'fully operational'?
-
I do believe its ok and passable as it is, have heard from several sources it would be ok (Belt hides it anyways), have seen some people fill it in. With your dimensions you shouldn't have any issues at all for fitting.
Very cool. Thanks again Chris for the help and pics! Dang that armor is just beautiful, look how it gleans and shines! Sorry I'm having a moment

What is your height and weight that will help gice people a better idea how it will fit you.
I'm 5'7, 185 lbs. Mark said it's definitely not a problem
-
Thanks Chris for sharing that! So even with that 'indent' showing, as long as the notch is 22x22 it should still be good to go with 501st approval? Even at Centurion level?
-
I have a plan for that too - I will work on it tonight instead of this weekend and let you know
Sounds awesome! Thanks for the support Aaron!

I will, hopefully be working on that notch this weekend - the plan is to slice the seam on the notch and push the un-used portion back in with a back plate on the inside of the armor - if that makes sense. This way there is only a small seam that can be concealed with abs paste - which can be sanded and buffed up.
Ah I'd like to see that..sounds awesome. But then of course you either lose the return edges or have to re-make em.
-
Thanks Chris, my biggest concern is the waist - kidney/ab/notch sections.

Woo!! The TM helmet in Hero version? Also, does the color match the AP armor?
