  1. Yep, that's what I assumed (and feared).
  2. Hm, okay, so I'll admit I'm still a bit confused. Are you guys saying it would be impossible for me to seek 501st approval as "Trooper Finn" before the December premiere? That if I sought 501st approval it would need to be as a generic "First Order Stormtrooper"? I'm fine with that if true, just seeking clarification. Also, you mentioned the Rebel Legion approves "hero" characters, but they don't approve Stormtrooper variants (based off Luke and Han, e.g.) so does that mean responsibility for who might approve a Trooper Finn defaults back to the 501st? Or will the 501st also refuse since he's a "good guy", leaving the actual character's approval in a weird limbo? I understand the movie has yet to be released and we've never had a film character go from "Imperial" to "Rebel" quite this way so there's no precedent yet. Mostly I am just wondering if 1) it's possible to try and get Trooper Finn approved (I understand I am likely to be the first one seeking this character... which I'll admit would be a point of pride for me) or do I have to wait for a CRL for him to be created (if one ever will be) 2) if so, which organization I need to get it done through, so I can start inquiring on what might be required to pass 3) if I will need to dirty up my armor similar to how Finn has his in the trailers/promo shots, as that's an important step during the painting/finishing process, and something I need to begin planning for as early as possible. Sorry if this was all answered and I just can't read between the lines. Like I said, I'm not 501st and have never even considered seeking approval before so while I understand the gist of the process I don't know how it applies to specific characters (other than faceless ones like Vader) or characters whom have never been done before/there is no current CRL for.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, I was under the belief that Phasma's toy says it as if she is referencing Finn; does she ever use the designation to refer to herself or other troopers?
  4. Argh... I just got ahold of an ANOVOS TFA kit I'm intending to finish so I can seek 501st approval, and I was depending on those build threads to help me through the construction process Is there any recourse for someone like me? I knew I should have saved the offline HTML of them... :/
  5. Quick question, guys, I already have a Jakku Finn (rebel) costume I am working on getting Rebel Legion approval for. Would there/will there be any kind of CRL if I wanted to do Trooper Finn? That would be done through FISD, I imagine? Or do you guys only handle "generic" troopers and not actual named characters? I know his suit is mostly the same (aside from some grit, etc) but obviously he doesn't have his helmet (or rather, he does, and it has a bloody handprint on it, etc) so I wouldn't be wearing that very much, which means it wouldn't technically fulfill the current CRL requirements, right? Or is that sort of thing (battle damage) an acceptable variation that can still be approved? I just want to be sure where/who I would need to go through if I wanted to be that specific character. I've never dealt with 501st/RL approval before so I appreciate any answers or advice, thanks p.s. Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this...!
  6. Newer belt pouches? What's all this, then~?
  7. Hey mate, suit looks great, do you mind if I ask what boots you went with~?
  8. Working on it, but, like Germain, we want to see more reference images first before we commit precious modeling hours.
  9. It's not just you... this Rubies version is essentially kid-sized (here's a pic of kids holding it). It's 18" long, give or take, INCLUDING the tactical stock that's (probably permanently) attached. -------------- For comparison, our E7-11 blaster is 18.5" WITHOUT the tactical stock: http://i.imgur.com/7HrNtcwl.jpg So yes, very small. But, as Tyler mentioned, it may still be useful for taking to trooping events involving kids. I just wouldn't try to troop with the actual toy itself-- I have a feeling it will look comically undersized in the hands of even a moderately-sized trooper.
  10. Thank YOU for all your hard work around here, and for putting your faith in us. We won't betray that trust!
  11. Sales thread is live for those interested: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32914-jj-armory-inc-e7-11-first-order-blaster-tfa/ We will continue to update both this thread and that one with future progress/revisions for the sake of keeping everyone informed ~JJ
  12. Yep, noticed the same thing. Back to the ol' modeling board for both of us, eh? The more images I see of the blaster the more confused I am. The tiny little sight on the top of the blaster (between the scope and the white end cap) is white in the new promotional images but was black on the screen-used blasters at Celebration... ugh! BTW, we are ready to accept preorders! I'll be responding to everyone who PMs me directly with info, and I'll also try and make a pre-order thread if I can figure out how/where to make it (and if I have permission :X)
  13. We'll take some much better pics sometime tomorrow, but here's a preview of what you can expect of the finished model! If any of you will be at DragonCon I'll be lugging this thing around in case you'd like to see it in the flesh (plastic)! =) -----------
  14. I will take a look! If you'd like to PM me some of the differences, I certainly wouldn't mind
  15. Wow... that is super gracious of you! Not to mention your stock looks incredible! Only issue is we'd feel really bad about molding/casting and then profitting from your model. We got ahold of one of these for pretty cheap and it fits the scale of our blaster... plus, it's functional, which is kinda nice. I'm pretty sure the ATI logos were filled in on the screen-used stocks, but there's no way to tell atm. I dunno. We probably will see how everything looks by DragonCon (we'll be lugging the blaster around there!) and decide afterwards.
  16. Are we sure there's not three and one of them is painted black? Just curious~!
  17. Ah, a very interesting and minute detail...! We'll remodel it and print off another tube asap. Thanks for the assist!
  18. Yes! The entire gun is hollow, actually, from stem to stern! Here are some pics (don't mind the messy work area...!). (Bonus: in the background you can see a sneak peek of our initial design sketches for one of Finn's jacket greeblies ) All three parts (barrel, receiver, and rear tube) are in the exact same position/orientation for all three photos, so as you can see it's a straight shot from the muzzle cap all the way back to the end cap. We specifically designed the internal diameter to be an even 1" all the way throughout, so you can run a 1" PVC pipe straight down the blaster body for added stability if you like, or use the space for whatever crazy electronical shenanigans you so desire In fact, a convenient way to manage this might be to stuff any desired electronics, battery pack, etc inside the 1" PVC pipe and then slide that sucker in before attaching the muzzle/end cap. That way if you ever need to swap batteries or do some other kind of repair/maintenance on the internals, you can just remove the end cap and slide everything back out all nice 'n' neat. Just an idea!
  19. In that case, I could use a hand... Does anyone here have any idea what we could use for the textured grippy material seen on the blaster grip/foregrip? Pics for reference: ---------
  20. Wow, I am the dumb. Thanks for pointing it out before it hit the silicone!
  21. Okay, now I'm just confused... could you elaborate on what is off with ours so we know what to fix? Here is the muzzle cap as it currently appears:
  22. No worries, mate, I am pretty sure we just hot glued it on wrong in our rush to assemble it for photos! Update! Let the wetsanding begin (this photo includes some pieces we remodeled and reprinted to make them even more accurate...!)
  23. We'll release our files for the 1.0 version of the rifle most likely later this year, closer to the release of TFA. Until then, the files are going to remain proprietary, at least until we recoup some of the cost we put into this project!
