  1. Sorry Billy but it was not my intention to 'stir the pot' and I certainly did not realise that my question to Paul about shring the maker of the boots would create such a response. I asked the question for two reasons, 1) As I tell my children, asking questions is a good way of finding out things you don't know and 2) Paul came up with his initial find well over two years ago and I thought that by asking it might have prompted him to share. Clearly Paul had his reasons for not sharing, which have now been made clear, and he did put in the work to track down so many pairs of original make boots, well done to him. I personally do not have the time to invest in locating a pair of original make boots based on the information that is available but I am interested in the make and the history behind them, which I hope doesn't make me a bad person. I would like to apologise to Paul for stirring things up and for being indirectly responsble for this thread and for upsetting anyone else with what I honestly thought was a harmless question, my bad. (Paul, please don't punish anyone else for my error in judegement, you have a great find with those boots and the pictures you have shared so far will make it a lot easier for those with the inclination to find what they are looking for. )
  2. I know that this thread isn't about you specifically Paul, but you have been featured on a recent thread where this has come up. Now that I know the above info and that you are not 'hoarding' for hoarding sake then it does all make sense and I would not have asked for you to share the info, which seemed to have opened up an old wound (soor 'bout that ). Unfortunately the above wasn't made clear and from first read of that thread to me, as a noob, you did come across as a bit of an an impolite person (soory). But the above puts everything in perspective and if it had been shared the first time you were asked, then it might have stopped some of the subsequent flaming that I stumbled into. I would love to spend the time to research all the information that I need to make the perfect TK but I don't have the time, but would still like to have the best kit I can and so will use all the information that is currently available. I am very grateful to all those that have shared their knowledge and expertise, and cracking suits of armour, and I just wish that I had something that I could give back.
  3. Hopefully i will get the chance to have a look at some accurate armour soon and to take some comparison shots. What I am trying to figure out is the length of the abdomen side that matches up with the side of the kidney plate, I believe that the side on an FX abdomen is too high but i need some accurate diemensions to be sure? (Not sure if that makes any sense but i hope you understand what I'm after?)
  4. Paul, are you willing to share the make yet?
  5. Has anyone got the dimensions of an accurate abdomen armour part or a comparison with an FX part? (yep, this is a copy of another post, but that one is in the wrong section and I can't delete it. )
  6. Now that I can see the picture, it is exactly what i what i was looking for. Excellent drawing mate. Many thanks. Have you got any more drawings for commonly asked questions that I could have a look at?
  7. Thanks for this Mr Hag, I'm sure it will prove useful when I get on my home pc, work always block the good pictures.
  8. The stills do look pretty conclusive. So if I do it this way will I get Elite Infantryman status?
  9. Is that the current consensus and would snaps be ok? If yes, how do we go about having the discrepancies sorted out?
  10. Can anyone help me?
  11. hello Mr Danter, Yep, I'm on about where the holster straps attach to the belt. I had thought that it was as you descibed but the sources I stated have some discrepansies about this as two say that it should be just 2 at the bottom whilst the other two say 2 at the top EDIT : Original post now has direct relevent quotes. So I was after some clarification so that i can go for EIB status.
  12. I’m working on modding my armour for accuracy and EIB status but I’ve hit a snag with regards to attaching the holster for ANH –Stunt as the information in the academy has some discrepancies to the placement of the rivets/snaps/ etc. Some info states they should be attached at the top and some state it should be attached at the bottom, as below. 2 at bottom of holster strap; ---- 'the holster will be affixed with two fasteners at the bottom. These may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws' ---- 'The holster will be affixed with two fasteners at the bottom, instead of none or four. These may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws.' 2 at top of holster strap; ---- '■For ANH Stunt, the holster will be affixed with two fasteners at the top. These may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws' ---- ANH Stunt : * The holster should be attached using only two fasteners at the top of the straps.' Can someone offer some clarification please?
  13. Heads up for anyone in the UK. Tesco's are curently selling black non-slip material in packets for £1.00. I'm thinking of using it in my new MR lid.
