Warkicker

My name is Tom, aka Warkicker, which was my nickname when I played football. I was born in 1968, the son of an Air Force officer. I consider Bradenton Florida my home town and currently reside in North Carolina.

Profession: Otolaryngology - Head and Neck, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Hobbies and interests: Sci-Fi models, traveling, water and snow skiing, CrossFit, giving placekicking and punting lessons, music, playing trumpet, astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology, philosophy and logic, Christian apologetics

Like many here on FISD, I became an instant Star Wars fan a few minutes into watching ANH in 1977. The subsequent Halloween, I remember agonizing between going trick or treating as Darth Vader or a stormtrooper. Later, my interests in Sci-Fi mainly focused on building models, my favorite being star destroyers and the 1701A Enterprise refit. But I always had a fondness for the the look of an imperial stormtrooper. My brother and his best friend pointed me to FISD and the 501st legion and I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. I was impressed with the Legion's charitable work, especially visits to hospitals and the ICU to cheer-up sick kids. I have a colleague who built an R2D2 and now specializes in building Astromech droids. He was inspired after his own child, who was sick in the ICU, was visited by some Legion members dressed as stormtroopers and Darth Vader.
