  1. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, uh? Nice work buddy
  2. Sharper lines do not make this armor any more or less comfortable than any fan kits. The shape of those parts or the way they're trimmed might make a difference but not the detailing on the faceplate and such. It makes a difference aesthetically and that comes down to personal preference. I do hope however that it won't affect approval and/or access to EIB status... But, the holster will need fixing, that much we know. The rest is up in the air!
  3. J'imagine que t'as vu le stationnement du Marché Central ce jour là? J'ai à peine eu le temps de trouver une place, le temps de prendre une photo, il fallait déjà aller prendre nos places :/
  4. Yeah they do but I don't want that for 2 reasons. First, I know this hobby isn't cheap but I don't want to buy a ton of different kind of paint I'll have no use for afterwards... Second, I don't want a hammered finish or a wrinkle finish but more of a sandpaper-like finish. So here's the thing, if you spray too far from the surface you're painting, tiny droplets of paint have the time to dry before reaching the surface. So you end up with something that feels like sandpaper. It happened to me the first few times I tried painting stuff and I was mad at that time cause I wasted a smooth finish... But here, that's exactly what I want! So that way, I really only need a flat and a matte black and some metallic paint for the inner bolt. Obviously I'm gonna make a small scale test first but if all goes well, that's the plan!!!
  5. Never thought I'd see TK's playing mini-golf!!! Awesome pics You guys really seem to have a lot of fun!! By the way, I was there at the premier for The Force Awakens!!! I'm a little shy so I didn't stick around too long but it was a blast to see you guys there! BTW, thanks for not shooting me down, I hope to switch sides soon
  6. Ok, so the extension piece I made out of Sculptey is too short by 5 mm [emoji36] I'll redo it this weekend! By the way, I think I've found a way to make a nifty paint effect for cheap on the blaster's body. While reading the post, it seems like the crinkle paint finish was actually only used on promo shoot props, while actual movie props has a rough, grainy matte finish for the body. So, I was looking at ways to produce a similar effect with rattle cans and I found out a neat little trick in the application so no need to purchase anything extra... I'm nowhere close to paiting at this point but I might do a test to see if it works.
  7. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! I was about to eyeball it
  8. Hey that is so cool, I just subscribed to your build as I was looking for reference on the bolt! Thanks for your comments, you guys are right, I shouldn't worry too much about it then BTW, if I may ask, would you be so kind as to take a measurement of how much of the inner bolt is showing in the slit in the back? If you don't mind, that is. [emoji4]
  9. Let's be honest, we really are in the hardcore Star Wars nerd bubble. 99,9% of the public, even like, big Star Wars fans have no idea what we are talking about around here!!
  10. I saw your post I wonder if they got it in kit form or already built?
  11. Thanks a lot! I know what you're talking about. I've been making a few props here and there and we always are our worst critics. I've had people tell me my Jedi outfit looked great but all I could see was the things I screwed up... It's my first time building a blaster so I guess it's bound to have a few flaws.
  12. Right! I was just trying to play along as I may be a bit of an Anovos fanboy from time to time [emoji12] Back on target, here's a picture that just came up on Twitter. It's from Frank Ippolito's shop and it supposedly shows Anovos helmets. Emphasis added to the s as in more than one helmet... It looks consistent with what we've seen of the Anovos buckets but it might be a prototype like the Shadow Trooper they got this summer. So, nothing solid but still kinda cool to see

  14. Ok, long time no see, eh? I finally got in the mood to work on my blaster again! I worked on a few other projects in the meantime and read a few build threads, so all is not lost! One thing I realize though, is that starting with the scope wasn't the best idea. By the time I finished drilling through that thing, I was kinda discouraged thinking I bit more than I could chew. But, with Christmas came Christmas vacation so with all that free time, I got back to work! And boy, did I make some progress!! Here's a picture of where I am now. Starting to look like something, right? Even though I'm not shooting for something uber accurate with this build, I did choose to make a few mods here and there. One thing I wanted was to make a more accurate front sight. It's not finished yet but here's how it looks so far. I also added texture to the front sight guard and a more accurate d-ring. I didn't want to buy a new magazine, so I worked with the one I had and tried to make it look more the real thing. What do you think? I dremeled the strip on the bolt and made a new one. It looks a little warped because I think I forced it in place... I'm not sure about that one :/ I might try to add serial numbers to this thing, we'll see how I feel about that one later. The trigger is working!!! I installed a ballpoint pen spring behind it and for some reason, it has a really nice clicking feel to it! I wasn't happy with the folding stock cutout, so I put some green stuff here and there and reworked it... Much better! I'm also working on a spring and working inner bolt. I'm gonna be using a wooden dowel for the bolt itself. However, as you are aware, the diameter of the doopy tube is so thick that it just wouldn't look right without some modification. So in order to hide the thickness of the tube, I molded a piece with Sculptey that raises the bolt up to the desired height... It's still a work in progress but I think it should look good once I'm done with it! Alas, not everything's perfect in paradise... After screwing and gluing my folding stock, I noticed it's actually crooked [emoji17] [emoji17] [emoji17] I don't know if it can be fixed as I used CA glue to bond it with the body. Do you guys think it's an issue I should try to fix and if so, do you think I can get the folding stock off? Oh, I forgot to say I already put green stuff over the screws I used to secure the pivot of the stock... As usual, thanks in advance for any help or comments!!
  15. What now, you're gonna tell me there's no HUD integrated in those lenses?!? How are we supposed to shoot down those pesky rebels without it? Preassembled helmet my ... !!! #AnovosWorstCompanyEver [emoji35] [emoji35] [emoji35]
  16. That's not the Anovos armor, that's a ROTJ armor...
  17. They confirmed in their bonus November newsletter that the holster is real leather. They even shown pictures of it... As for as using the 3D files from the screen used helmets, it would make sense in explaining how quick they were able to produce them. I've been thinking about that for some time actually.
  18. Yeah!!! What's that December 21st update??? Never got it!
  19. Yeah, this whole December shipping thing is starting to unravel. Damn, I was so sure shipping notice would be sent this week. Doesn't make much difference because it's gonna take me months to build anyway but still...
  20. For a 149$ helmet? OUCH!!! With Quebec's stupidly high sale taxes, the TK kit is gonna sting!!!
  21. How much were they if you don't mind me asking?
  22. Darth Aloha the wise has spoken! Still no word of that mysterious friend who had received confirmation of his OT TK being shipped... I wish it was true but another false alarm! It this rate when it really does start shipping, no one will believe it [emoji12]
  23. Indeed, we've been burned before. Only this month, 2 people blew the alarm and both times it was for some other product they had ordered from Anovos...
