Quick question. The mic tips/aerators - the decal for them sucks. Really really really bad. What color black should be used for painting them..? They are aluminum / silver by the appearance.

Roughly one million dollars per episode, ILM is being used, and they created the department LucasFilm Animation to do the clone wars series on tv. The live action is currently set at 2 million for each hour created.... hehe. that should be interesting. Click me! for the article.

Alright!!!! I got my 19 lb box of fun today! I had been getting small parts that I needed to build when it was delivered. Much to my delight, the guy who sold it to me, put a holster and a pauldrun in for free, along with the inner guts of a construction helmet, and some other stuff. I really am very happy with the guy I purchased it from. hokey-doke. Pictures! The box...yes.... Taping the forearms. One forearm almost done, need to put the last strip of velcro on. Not sure if I like the Welder (cement) it seems to take longer to dry than the box says. Gonna let it sit overnight, and check in the morning; before I Weld more pieces together. More updates tomorrow night!!! Man this stuff is hard to photograph ... muhahaha- I like that! More stealth!

Armor...lets call it 'weathering'.
joryayer replied to XNtr3k's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I always thought that a "scar" on the armor would be cool. Trooper got attacked by some creature with huge claws, gets slapped by it, big ole scar across the chest plate, maybe even the legs. Plus, get it all dirty inside the scar, harder to clean, etc. -
I was reading today that the live action starts airing in 2009. Per lucas. I'll look through my history and see... Ph1l2007 QUOTE "Stormtroopers are battling some kind of mercinary / pirate gang. Lots of collateral damage. One stormtrooper takes it upon himself to rescue a child about to be crushed by debris. Or something along those lines " That is an awesome freaking idea, i'd love to see that.

You know, I too have that issue of gaining weight. I have such a high metabolism. If I eat three square meals a day, I still have trouble gaining weight. I've actually lost weight, and have been eating the same since high school. It's kinda hard to gain for some people. A few pints seem to help alot of people here in wisconsin Let me know how it works!

Hah, no, far from that... I think i'm going to go with in the helmet. I understand it will be a little heavier, but, I just think it will be a much better option.

Yeah, beer + whisky + welders epoxy/glue... doesn't sound like a good idea... hehe. thanks for the list. We had a yard stick/ruler mysteriously appear on my doorstep a couple weeks ago...not sure where from. so I've got one now!

Stormtrooper shop constantly has parts, boots, and kits online. In the last couple weeks - they're alot of what I've been seeing...

I didn't want to just have a two question poll, and I had just woken up at the time of posting; so I added humor in. And the "I didn't just grab my crotch" gag came from a stormtrooper dressing himself video that I watched last night, had to throw it in. But on a serious note. I'm still wondering why people put it in their chest for other than space reasons. It just doesn't connect with me how it would sound like it's coming from the helmet. I can't really imagine talking to someone, when the sound is coming from their chest...however it would give me new reason to look at the chest while they're talking! "Yeah, your eyes may be up there, but I watch peoples mouths when they talk!" Okay, maybe that was to far. But yeah. Hence the reason I put this up. Any more comments (pros - vs - cons) would be appreciated!

Lots of great suggestions. Anything else anyone can think of? I'm going shopping tonite. I'm thinking I like the idea of Welders Glue (Thanks Daves Garage)!

Okay, well. I've seen plenty of people doing the sound from the helmet and from behind the chest plate; so before I start my build, I'd like to see some results with the flashy poll above! Yay! Speak with your answers, and I shall figure which I will go with. Or "Answer me questions these four!"

I'm thinking about getting two of these and modifying it to mount into the aerator areas..... Speakers Anyone have any experience with em? They might get some more/better sound than the small radioshack speakers.

Okay. I've been browsing for days now and seeing so many different ways to do this. I need to know what the small parts needed for putting together my armor are. I've seen velcro, snaps, rivets, glue, sanity...etc. I've looked at alot of TK sites, but seem to only find mixed opinons on the route to go. Which is the best for a n00b at this, and whats a good ole shopping list for all of the small parts going to look like? ** Edit, this should get stickied for everyone else who's starting, one stop shop for all the accessories and small stuff! **

I know my eyes are bad (yeah, got the glasses on) but the ridges on the chest plate look...errrr...skewed. ones higher than the other, or am I just seeing things wrong here....

Never-Mind, I scored a black stealth trooper armor kit *somewhat cheaper than normal* on the bay of E. I decided that since I'm a fiend for all things black, that I'd go with a black suit. I do think that the TK White Stormies are awesome as heck, but I wanna make sure I can build that one perfect when I do do it. So my black one is test. *EDITED: i said i scored one cheap, it was cheaper than most, added that line. Added reasoning on why also.*

Is it a good kit to get as a newbie? AP sent me the pricing on an untrimmed kit with helmet, i'm not sure if I should post the pricing, so I'm going to withhold that, but is the Authenticprops Untrimmed armor a decent kit? Any comments or directions, should I hold off on this kit and move on to a different one?

heh. heh. Well, it looks like people do recommend putting some foam in between. Is this 501st acceptable? Just as long as it's hidden I assume?

So, I'm bidding on an armor set, and have a couple informational emails out for costs, etc., on armors... but.... One thing I started thinking about. I'm pretty dang skinny. I'm 6'3" and about 150lb. Has anyone ever put foam padding under all of the armor plates, so that the armor isn't about as skinny as you are? It just seems that if I end up molding the armor to about my arm size, that it'd just look horrid. Any responses from people my frame size would be great! Thanks1
