Like the many before me, I'll be starting with the biceps. Is it "wrong" to take off the return edge before I start to trim them to size?
-
And so it begins. The BBB has been sitting in my living room for the past week since I've been out of town. But, when I walked in the door, this is what awaited me.
Like a surgeon doing delicate brain surgery, I opened the box to reveal....
It's like Christmas, but a million times better.
What the hell have I got myself into?
Now AM says he has redesigned his chest to be more screen accurate. Thoughts?
I'm 6'2", 225 lbs. I don't think I'll be using any shims on this. In fact, I'll will wind up doing a lot of trimming.
Trooper Gear was fantastic to work with. I ordered the kit in March and received it last Friday. During the wait he sent multiple emails explaining how he was improving his armor and apologizing for the delay.
Stand bye.

What kind of foam? How are you cutting it/shaping it?

I did. Plan on making a sandy out of it. My Trooper Gear armor should be here in a couple weeks for my TK.

Just ordered mine. Think I'll make a Sandy out of it.

Welcome, Ryan. If you haven't already done so, check in on the Garrison Titan forum. http://garrisontitan.com/index.html That's the local Garrison for Washington State. Good luck on your build.

Is that some kind of rank insignia on the right chest?

After you go to the EMP exhibit, go on down to Pike Place Market and have lunch at the Pike Brewing Company. I recommend their Kilt Lifter.

"Anyone wanting a copy of the original build thread, let me know! I can scan it and post it."
Please do. That looks like it would be fun to build.

Thanks, Todd. The drawing makes perfect sense. That helps a lot.

I made some extra large kidney shims and gave them a slight bend with the heat gun. I won't have to use the whole shim. I figured i would get a better measurement to glue the shim to the kidney and then I would know exactly how big they need to
First, your build looks awesome. Thanks for a great WIP. When you where bending your shims, did you use something to shape them, or did you just heat them up and eyeball it? Thanks.

I recommend TKboots.com, too. They had my size in stock, and it took less than seven days to receive them. Just make sure you follow their advice on how to size them.

OT, but, I was a MP from '86-'95. I was stationed in California, Germany and Texas. You?

Federal Agent. aka, Stormtrooper.

My name is Mike and when I grow up, I want to be a Stormtrooper. I can vividly remember being nine years old and watching "A New Hope" at the local theatre. I probably owned all the action figures at one time, but have lost them through the years. I plan on building an ANH Hero build. Thanks for having so much information on this forum. I'm learning so much reading other peoples builds and trials and errors. I can't wait to start.

Do a search for "Hasbro E11 conversion" on eBay. There's one on there now. I bought mine that way. It took about a month to receive it.

So, I started by making a faint pencil mark on the return edge so I didn't over do it with the dremel.
Some flying bits of molten plastic and a little sandpaper later...
I then played around with the two halves test fitting them on my arm. I held the pieces together with blue masking tape. After I was satisfied with the fit, I made a pencil mark on the top and bottom of both halves, clamped down my ruler, and.........cut. (sometimes my audacity amazes myself).
I butted the two halves together, taped them together, and amazingly they still fit my arm.
Finally cut a 15mm finish strip, and e6000'd it to half of the bicep. I'm going to let that cure, then join the two halves together. Once I know this turns out ok, I'll finish up the right bicep. I think my progress will start to pick up as I gain confidence.
