  1. Yea the movie armor wasn't even painted. It was simplly the color of the material. Almost a satin, or semi-gloss look. That said, my entire armor was automotive painted with a semi-gloss clear. I just like things new looking forever I guess. But like others have mentioned, not too shiny. I think no matter what you do it will look awesome.
  2. Hi Vasco, welcome to the FISD
  3. You got this Zach, getting close
  4. Being completely biased here . The fans I sell (40mmx40mm) are custom made. Roughly 1500 rpms. This allows for adequate air flow and quiet operation simultaneously. Most fans on the market regardless of size, run at 2000-2500+ rpms. Great air flow but noisy as heck.
  5. Welcome to the FISD trooper
  6. This is outstanding! Absolutely impressive to me.
  7. As a matter of fact, I've literally looked into making a system exactly like this, Unfortunately, not too many people want, or can afford to spend $1000+ on a cosplay device. The problem is it has to be sophisticated enough and have modern communication and software capabilities, and yet small and robust enough to handle the harsh environments of a costumes interior. If someone comes up with a system like this at the same price I sell my items for, not to mention offer the same robust warranty I offer, I'll retire tomorrow

  15. Hey Chris looking good. I have a few suggestions, some mandatory, others optional. That said, I'd check with your garrison GML and get their feedback for repairs needed for approval. Once area that sticks out is the rear calf cover strip. It's supposed to be half on/half the armor. Here's a reference photo While in the area, the sniper knee ends need to be trimmed and secured. Here's a reference photo Moving upward. The backplate upper connection. I would suggest removing some of the return edge on the back plate, especially in the encircled area. Then giving that area, and the shoulder covers a hot water bath to shape them so they follow the curvature of your shoulders. Yours, and another reference photo. Lastly, return edge is optional in most areas. Though it's to give the illusion of armor thickness it's not always needed, and you'll find out soon enough that stuff will rub you raw during a troop. That said, an area that stood out to me more than anywhere else, around the eye sockets. I would clean those up just a smidge. There may be some other areas your fellow FISD members may want to point out, but that's all I have for now. Again, you're looking great. Keep up the good work
