  1. Ok not a ton of progress has been made, but I am still moving along slowly. Sniper knee plate had to be redone... After focusing so much on the sides and the alignment of the sides I neglected to notice that I had pulled the knee plate off center and since I had all that tape on it I didn't catch until 48 hours later, lol! Thankfully e6000 is great for folks that are prone to glueing errors! So after some pulling and sanding the plate was ready and is now being glued one more time. I also added one of the rear cover strips for the shins and 1 of the 3 clasps that will close the shin. All the clasp setups are sewed and ready to go. They just have to be glued in place and then I can mark my holes in the appropriate spots for drilling. I also cut 28 plates out of 50mm nylon at 40mm to be used in a double snap setup. I may have extras I may need more... I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. My question is... Do I add Velcro to my double snap setup? Is it that helpful? Does it make extra noise when you walk compared to a snap setup without Velcro? Pros/Cons... Expert advice needed!! [emoji851]
  2. Looks great Preston! How's the length compared to the original?
  3. It wasn't that bad. Just had to use a combo of tape, magnets and clamps lol! It should be good. I hope at least!! Good luck on yours!!
  4. What a pain in the a very impolite person..... One side settled in perfectly. The other not so much... After much persuasion, I do believe I got her!!
  5. Thanks Jason! No fancy sewing machine... No apron... Just hand sewn beauty...
  6. Quick question... When gluing the elastic into the shins for the bra clasp closure, are you just slapping e6000 on the elastic and abs and just pushing them together with out clamps? I'm assuming that is the way to go about it. Unless there is a way to clamp it without making a mess of your clamps and/or magnets??
  7. Pictures P! Show us your pain!!! I honestly think that you just need to replace it , not fix it. That piece has to much torque on it to try and glue it and think it will fix it. [emoji27] Lets take a look see before we write it off though!
  8. I will email one of them tonight. Front of shin trimmed up and sanded down to almost a polish with 2000 grit. I am going to keep the bottoms as is until it is needed if needed at all.
  9. Thanks Andy! Good luck on the final coat! Any and all help is always appreciated!
  10. Thanks Tim! Remove the return edge at the front of the knee. Will do. I also noticed you took the return edge off at the bottom because it ruined your boots? Did you take off the return edge on both sides? Plus I like the look of the back of the shin with the V. Ejgreen used that method. Was just wondering if that would mess with centurion level. Honestly haven't noticed it on any of the centurion build threads I have looked at.
  11. So as it stands I have (4) pieces glued together and am working on the TD and (1) of the shins as I type. Shins.. I believe I will leave them as is without any modification. They seem to fit very nice right out of the box. I'll leave the trimming until after some troops so I can pinpoint any areas that "bite" me. No pictures of the shins yet but I will get some posted soon.
  12. Ok while I was in NY on business this week I stopped at an area Hobby Lobby that I was staying next to and found Gloss Grey from testors. I figured I had my hands on it I might as well get it so I can keep working while I was away. (Yes I brought parts to work on in the evening while on a business trip... I'm horrible I know, lol)
  13. Awesome! Ill try that out. Worst thing that happens, I have to get another tub when I order my s-trim from trooperbay. Thanks Tolo!
  14. I only purchased one small tub of humbrol grey... Ugh! Logical idea of using the same grey though. The simple things one looks past lol...
  15. Any special paint color to use for the TD? Should it be glossy? Flat?
  16. Hmmm... So the bra clasps are just a little harder to put on? I'm swaying towards bra clasps me thinks!! I have had my share of experience with bra clasps, I should be good. [emoji41]
  17. One more strip on the forearms to glue and I can move on to the next piece. I'm thinking shins. Still up in the air on whether I should use a Velcro closure for the back of the shins or the more screen accurate bra clasps? What do you all think? Will the holes for the bra clasps eventually crack? RTMod is pretty thick abs... Is either choice a more durable choice? Your input is greatly appreciated!!
  18. After further review of some RTMod build threads I decided to go for it! Standing up you can definitely see the 3/4" difference. EJGreen's build showed them after the cut and that's exactly what I wanted them to look like. Thank you Eric!! I also checked how they would fit guesstimating what they may look like after the cut and based on a ton of different Centurion submission photos I analyzed I should be more then ok. After the cut I tried them on again with masking tape and I'm very happy with the outcome! First one is glueing. The glueing is a very slow process. I only bought 25 magnets so I can only work one side at a time. That's 4 days a piece, lmao! It is going to be worth it end the end. Maybe the end of June at this rate... But worth it! That's it for now. Off to work. I still need to buy my fans and electronics yet, so money must be made!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
