I'm personally not really upset that they're doing it. I was mostly just surprised that it happened so soon.

I was about to create this exact same thread! Seems like this is the guy who made the armor "Professionally painted by an auto body shop".
This is crazy...!
I saw it on Instagram and was like whaaaa!?!?!?!

Good luck with her approval.

The suit I was able to assist with didn't use bondo. He used Zap-a-gap with kicker to build up the outer seamlines quickly and we would sand it back down to a smooth uniform surface. He also reinforced the inside seams with strips as we would a regular TK.

Hello! Inspired by the "Too old to Troop?" post, I decided to join the forum and work my way up to trooping. I've been a fan since first seeing Star Wars in the theater as a kid.
My first armor will likely be a purchase. I'm a bit burned out on building after a build of the "Edge of Tomorrow" suit and a barely started Pepakura Iron Man.
I look forward to the journey here!
Welcome! Be sure to research before you purchase... Also, I think building these are a lot easier than building pep costumes.

Here's a question. I saw someone at celebration post that the Anovos armor seemed a little thin and fragile. Their site says the armor is .090 ABS. I don't know nearly enough about kits for that to mean anything to me, but does that sound right to you guys? What's a normal thickness for other kits?
The only Anovos armor at C7 was the new TFA TK armor. They didn't have a prototype ANH TK on display. That thickness is on par w other makers (if not a little thicker?)

that was pretty funny

Will do! I went ahead and requested to join on FB. Any other steps i should take?
Start reading and researching. Ask questions and stay away from eBay. Tim will probably be along eventually w much more info.

It's relatively inexpensive (compared to a TK). Plus she was attending all the troops anyway, might as well join up officially. Some events we were having to pay for her a ticket to attend even as a handler because she wasn't 501st, this will eliminate that hassle.Nice, maybe my wife will be interested in a setup like this!

Welcome! I'm in San Antonio also and lots of Star Garrison troopers on FISD. Be sure to link up with your local Garrison mates for events and armor parties...

She's been awesome and has attended every event I've trooped to help out and take pics. We finally decided to get her involved officially and put together a Tie Reserve to get started. She plans to do a Jawa in the future and have ordered the new Anovos ANH TK for her as well. Just wanted to share. Thanks!

A word of caution to the FNGs in particular ...
Hopefully you all aren't expecting a quick turnaround. With the flood of orders, I'd be surprised to see these kits ship en masse before Christmas. From my discussions with the ANOVOS production manager this weekend, I get the impression that they are still working out the mass production details.
So when they say "Winter 2015", keep in mind that can be interpreted as anywhere from Dec '15 - Mar '16. "Patience" will be the watchword.
+1
If you're planning to troop the new movie openings with this kit, you might want a back up plan.

I'm ordering one for my GF. If it ends up being 501st accepted, then cool. If not, then I'll paint it pink for her.

You could get prescription sport glasses. or I've seen a guy on here take off the sides and affix the glasses inside the helmet. (just suggestions as I don't wear glasses)
-
That's pretty cool!

It's really a comfort issue. the only parts that aren't supposed to have it are wrist and ankle. As far as I know, you can trim the other edges to make it comfortable for you. Mine doesn't have edges on the thigh tops since I had to trim them down.

Search for 'inkedxombie' on Instagram. He has a few pictures uploaded!

and regarding the lift on the NDA, one builder and his crew posted a bunch of build images on Instagram yesterday. I'm assuming the NDA is no longer in play.

Thanks for helping keep everyone up to date on this Tim. I was able to help a squadmate work on his TFA TK some. It's pretty amazing in person. I'll def buy one.

Tim at 1:11 he talks, clear as day, no amps, straight out of the bucket, crazy awesome!
He did have a microphone held up right there tho.

You'll want to use smaller rivets (with washers/I don't have one near me to measure) to connect the plastic to the canvas. That way the covers will sit flush on top of the rivet heads. Snaps may be too big. I just built a belt last night. I should have taken step by step photos. I'll post pics of it tonight after work.
One of the first 75 TFA suits is already on ePay!
