I don't know if this is the right thread. But I did my census  when required and all was good. Check today and noticed my detachment affilation to FISD was on retired?

How can I change to active or is it something to not worry about?

Note last troop date is incorrect as census didn't have December 2023.

    Kind regards TK51992

Currently, you have full 501st Stormtrooper access to our forums. If your Legion profile is stating retired, you will need to take that up with your GML.

How does one become retired? generally you don't troop for a year and your GML sets you to reserve. Don't troop for 2 years in a row, you get set to retired due to inactivity. Some Garrisons enforce this more than others.

This is garrison and Legion controlled.

Only your affiliation to a detachment breaks if you do not log into that detachments' forum for a year.

That is an automatic function the legion database picks up when it does its annual sync to all units for census and for Elections.

The responsibility to prevent breakage of affiliation rest with the individual, and only requires you to log into a forum.

Using an app like Taptalk, unfortunately will not work, and is a known probable that remains unfixable.

Only log in from phone using a browser or log in on a PC/laptop.

Use your phone browser or a PC and log in.

Next, all DL's are supposed to go through the Legion's massive membership database and any member that the legion database state as retired, then requires their detachment access to be reset to basic member.

As you are still a full member indicated by the banner under your Avatar, you can tell this was not caused by the detachment Leader, which was myself :)

That's the story of how this all works, unless the sync itself fails to pick up all data accurately, which directs you back to your GML and Legion.

Hope this is helpful for yourself and others.

  2. The voting phase of legion Elections starts today in approximately 2 hour 20 minutes from the time of this post

As you may be aware, the main Legion forum has been having difficulties sending out email blasts to all the members, due to rate limiting.  So they have asked all the various units to step up and make sure important Legion news gets broadcast to all members.

Though there are no elections here at FISD, the LCO office as well as other units do have elections that require your vote!  Please check your local Garrison, Legion or other Detachment forums forum to check the Q&As and evaluate your candidates so you can make an informed choice.

The main Legion election information, including LCO Q&A and opening and closing statements, maybe be found on the main forum.  https://www.501st.com/elections/

Remember:  this is your Legion!  So don't just stand there.... VOTE!

  3. Finally caught up on this thread.

Quite the mashup between costume parts and time periods, but an awesome looking character nonetheless.

This will be an exciting build, and I am very much looking forward to seeing you progress through it.

The game reference shots are outstanding and super detailed, removing some of the guess work, which is very beneficial indeed.

As you get into the build and details, I can set up the wiki doc (platform document to create a CRL) so it is ready to go for fleshing out the details, and eventually your photos of all the components.

Great research so far, keep it up.

  4. Please everyone join me in congratulating Joseph as the incoming DL of our fine Detachment.

Congratulations, Joseph, I look forward to seeing what the next chapter for FISD will be under your direction.

The membership is in good hands, and I am here to support you with what ever you need, as I am positive any of the staff existing and new into the future will.

    Once again, congratulations :th_AnimatedBravoSmiley:

Thank you for this award, it is a true honor.

I certainly have no idea why on the Death Star I deserved this, but I will take this as an encouragement and continue to server our community with pride.

One thing I like to report on a project I am currently working on; I am making a series of video guide, localized in Cantonese about DIY a Stromtrooper. This project is inspired by our late FISD member CableGuy (Dan), I hope to follow his footsteps on documenting the building process and introduce the collective wisdom of FISD to Cantonese speaking Star Wars fans in Hong Kong, UK, Canada and other countries (yes, we are now scattered all over the world), hoping to make a connection and keep the Cantonese language alive at the same time.

I planned six 25mins episodes of A-Z introduction and will move on to do a new kit TK/TD after that, the series is now into its 2nd episode and I am currently making the 3rd one. I will make a thread and report on the progress in the Chinese section under "Imperial Embassies".

Beautiful sentiment Arthur, I am positive your videos will make a huger difference for those who speak Cantonese, and continuing to keep the language alive is also truly wonderful.

    Congratulations once again.

I know there has been a discussion on the Legion forum about problems with mass emails, so I wonder if the system being used is not being picky with individual notifications.

The paid service Legion use is similar to ours and has its limits and anti spam detection systems which can trigger in events of sudden mass  emails.

the more bulk emails you wish to send the more dollars it costs to get on a higher plan so to speak.

I think with legions current case it is being flagged as spam when over limit.

As to the noms, they are small value emails when it comes to quantity needing to be sent per email, and happen across a broad time span.

The mass send outs hit huge numbers in the 10,000 plus region, so perhaps legion require an upgrade or different provider.

The spam filters have probably changed over the last year too, so this may have popped up unexpectedly.

Either way it isn’t ideal, and hopefully they have a better solution moving forward.

  7. Testers grey is available in a small rattle can, mine has done several det tubes over the years and on testing the paint just last week, it is still good to go.

Check your local hobby shops, asking for 1237 Semi Gloss Primer, comes in a 3oz spray can It is enamel paint.

It is very close to the Traps and tears for the helmet.

  8. Welcome to FISD Hanson  (CTBD)
looks lies the team are offering good advice, which is what we are here for.

Please ask as many questions as you need, and do share photos of any progress. We love photos.

It is also best to use an image hosting service, as data space on the forums is very limited if you directly add photos.

The product of choice with many members is called IMGUR.

FyI- You do realize that there is a ton of troopers aboard Thrawn’s ship with different variations… I hope members will be able to be creative when making this trooper of FISD makes a CRL. Also from what I was told by someone that actually worked on the helmets and armor on scene, that it is a combination of rogue one armor and ANH

    Hey Matt, you bet ya.

We know that there were officially between 17 and 20 Rogue One sets of armour detailed for the live actions stuff.

These were duplicated out in digital copies copy and paste style, in fact they didn't hide that they pasted in several instances the same trooper next to each other. Screenshots show this in the gallery.

The idea for this CRL will be to chose if you wish what parts you paint grey based on what is seen on screen, plenty of variations there, and to then create your cracking weathering and Gold elements.

This will become the first CRL to have a good level of variety available to be creative with.

We have a source who worked on set where we got info on the number of R1 suits modified, plus the info from Costume department on fabrics what they actually did to the armour, but no one has mentioned anything about OT armour being used. Accounting for most of the R1 costumes now, based off the numbers we were given, and the information extolled, they were complete R1 assets.

They actually Dremeld those kits to create a lot of the cracking, so they are now damaged in that respect forever you could say. They were able to do that easily because of the thickness of the parts and Urethane material R1 kits are made of.

Unless there is solid proof of OTTK components, the CRL should be based on R1 armour only. That is not to say if down the track we get that solid evidence, and it can be publicly shown and seen on screen, that allowances can't be factored into the CRL.

  10. Are you considering using the spray fabric glue they used on set to keep the wrapping in place?

It also aided in some of the discolouration in areas where the fabric was doubled over and helped with the distressing not continually threading and becoming a mess.

  11. This still happens before census every year. If a member hasn't logged in, then they don't stay valid after the update.] as an affiliation to detachments.

The only other intervention is the mandatory removal of retired members and the adjustment of their access to basic, which obviously removes them from voting, being they are no longer a full 501st member.

If the legion Holocron for members has not been updated in the event a member has been re-approved after they come back from retirement or reserved, that is a matter for the member's GML to resolve.

To add to this, Legion pre warn all leaders to make appropriate adjustments as the database gets locked down when the election cycle starts, for new costume approvals cannot occur until the election cycle is finished.

  12. I think you got it just right.

Something to bear in mind is the rear mounting will vary based on how much material you trim from the halves of the thigh based on getting the right fit for an individual.

Slimmer legs mean the mount is a little further back on the rear, large, and it may not get as close as this reference image.

You do have the centre block aligned nicely with the cover strip as per the bottom reference image.
