  1. Make sure to clamp the eyes to he dome and position before you drill. That should help getting the alignment where you want it. Did you already trim the top of the face mask?
  2. Yes you could trim it more to get a better for for your head. My ATA with the padding and s-trim I have to turn it slightly sideways but that's just the way it goes on some buckets. As far as the gaps go in the ear area I get everything trimmed and fitted and then I rivet once on the ear center and then on the tube where you currently have your biggest gap. This tightens up the gap and makes fitting the ears easier IMO. I would suggest you install brow trim first. Mark sure you have clamps in the eyes to the dome before you dominos so you get the tightest fit possible.
  3. I m definitely a NooB here but my first adult sized bucket was an ATA kit and it was a fantastic experience building and purchasing it. I learned so much from the process and if you're the type of guy that likes doing things yourself I found this vey easy and rewarding. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks guys! The ears gave me the most trouble which is apparently a common issue. I like the wider look but the excess bugs me a bit. I think the paint job came out pretty good. I was trying to find some good reference on how many tube stripes to do. I settled on what I thought looked good. I didn't want the stripes running under the ear caps or crowding the mouth area too much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Hello good troopers! I started off with a keen interest in the 501st and my kids have caught the bug. I've been assembling my ESB vader for two years and I'm happy to say I'm almost at the finish line! As a family we decided Vader needs an envoy. I found a couple of very short recruits and after doing the research here's at the FISD I discovered Walt's awesome 80% kits. Now I have two VERY short troopers to escort me at Celebration next year........but wait there's more. I had so much fun learning how to build trooper buckets I just HAD to order one for myself. I settled on the ATA and got to work. I don't think I did a very good job but it still made me happy doing it and we all have fun putting my wife (the rebel spy) in the detention block. I've even now started builds of the hasbro DD conversion since a trooper without a weapon is just a white shield. I've never considered being a trooper before. I'm 6'3" athletic build and 220lbs. I always thought ones too tall for a trooper but there's something really fun about playing the part of enlisted ranks. Anyways, I'm on the fence about taking my bucket and going a full build at the moment. I'm keeping focused on vader but after he's done, who knows...... Here are some pics if my finished bucket. Hand painted and I used trooperbay stencils on the tube stripes and tear stripes. Everything else was free hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Can you post the specs for the new LED? Also perhaps a pic of where you removed the resistor? Great work! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Hey all, Has anyone ever figured out how to replace the sound board on the hasbro with a small mp3 board that has more authentic sounds? It seems to me this could be done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. What did you use for mic tips? Semi or full gloss black? Thanks for the help! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I just finished the majority of work on walt's 80 ANH stunt helmets for my kids. The kit is fantastic and I learned a lot doing it. This was my very first bucket build. I went with the decals on the tubes, minute earthing else was hand painted. Only things left to do is: 1. Paint screw heads white 2. Mouth mesh (debating this for my kids sake) Walt was awesome to work with and I empathize that having young kids around doesn't make it easy! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Very cool explanation. I've read the history thread about the TE and TE2. A lot of drama there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Outstanding. Are any of these cast from originals or are they send made? What is the history of this armor? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. A friend sent me this link. I can't tell who's armor it is. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=271511643547 I warned him about eBay armor but no don't have the same eye for it you all do. Any thoughts? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  18. Great progress! Can I ask what you are using to cut the green lens material? I am building a pair of walt's 80 buckets and I struggled with that on the first one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Ok, seriously. So NO ONE caught the irony that Testors grey was #1138????? My wife and I flipped out when we read this looking for paint yesterday. Side note: In the Star Wars novel, TK-421 was referred to as TK-1138. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I would add that maybe this time the "armor" might have more stopping power than protection from a strong breeze. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Does anyone have a strong opinion about which vendor would have a TK Stunt for someone 6' 3"? I weigh in at 220 / muscular build. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
