  1. If you listen to the ILM panel that John Knoll hosted at celebration this year that's the whole reason for the new rendition. In canon, stormtrooper armor is supposed to be sleek, advanced, mass produced. This is just an idealized version of what the stomtrooper is. While we all love the bumpy original, this stream lined version overall really works for the digital, blu ray era.
  2. Just a suggestion but you may wanna go over to the Pathfinders boards and share this stuff there since it's become the official home for the Shoretrooper.
  3. I'd like to pick up an accurate version of the helmet at some point. I'm sure Anovos and a few other makers will have them in a year or so. It's definitely not the most hyped costume though. I just don't see myself ever building one. My regular TK does the job. Also the cod plate on the new one weirds me out a bit. No need to spend the time/money on this when it could go to a TFA or episode 8 suit for me.
  4. Yep looks the same to me. There's a few different variations of the same heat sink out there. Mine are actually a green color.
  5. Some people have been able to grab just the buckle from their local ski shops. If you have that option I'd shoot for that. If not just wait for a casting. Not worth buying the whole boot.
  6. The common theory at the moment is that the pants were custom made. No one has found an off the shelf solution yet.
  7. The heat sink is one of the details inside the back plate.
  8. Just a list of off the shelf parts for the Shore Trooper that have been found so far. Feel free to add to it. Yugoslavian M56 Ammo Pouch w/oiler Orca Bay Brecon Boot. Sand is the correct color, Havana is close as well. Martin Baker Ejection Harness Buckle Head Spine-Tech Ski Boot Buckle MSI DDR Chipset Heat Sink 38mm x 38 mm x 5mm
  9. The Shoretrooper helmet is already looking awesome!
  10. Small but exciting update. I'm now officially a member of the 501st! My TKID is TK-70022

  12. Gonna throw my hat in the ring of people having issues. How it has played out for me. March 8th I placed my order for an e11 full kit and a stand. March 17 I emailed asking if my order had been shipped/ was there a tracking number. No Response March 19th My order is listed as dispatched. April 3rd I email them asking for a tracking number. They respond with "We shipped via regular airmail on March 19th as for some reason no shipping costs were added to the invoice. If it has not arrived by next week please give us another email" April 22nd I email them again to let them know that I still have not received the package. No response. May 4th I email again that I have not received my package. As of today still no response. I could probably get my money back through PayPal but I really would just like my kit. I've finished up my armor and I need a blaster. I purchased off their website, if there was a problem and I wasn't charged the correct shipping they should have contacted me about it. I gladly would have paid for the shipping so I would have a tracking number at the very least. I even asked them about the tracking number before the shipped it out and they didn't say anything. I know not everyone has had the same experience but I figured I would share mine as a warning to people. I wouldn't recommend dealing with them at the moment.
  13. You're totally right. The thighs were my biggest and only issue yesterday. They were sagging and getting caught up with the knee plate. Other than that everything was very comfortable.
  14. And it's complete! I worked through Saturday night to finish up the armor. I still need to make a few adjustments and paint over a few screws but all the hard stuff is done.
  15. I ordered one this morning for my wife. If she ends up not wanting/enjoying it then I'll make it into a sandy for me. I thought about ordering two but with all the TFA builds I want to do I think I'll just save up for those as they are going to be pricey.
  16. On the shoulder straps, are you referring to the earlier pictures in my post? If you look at the last picture where I am pointing, I have moved the bells in a lot. I'm working on losing the weight, so hopefully I'll be able to trim off the necessary amount on the right side. As for the pint we'll see how that works out, didn't really think about that. If it does my under suit was very cheap, just got it off amazon. It won't be the end of the world if I have to replace it.
  17. I had a productive weekend! I trimmed/ added brackets to/ assembled the entire torso! My wife was kind enough to sew up the elastic for me. I also got the belt assembled minus the holster that I still need to acquire. I gave the inside of my arm pieces a quick spray of paint to at least dull the red for sale sign I used for inner strips. I believe I've gotten everything together correctly as I'm shooting for eventual Centurion. I just need to lose the weight to fit in it properly lol. Please excuse the mediocre pics as I didn't have any helpers at the time. Gonna work on getting the arms and everything fitting right and then start working on the legs.
  18. Good call, thanks. I'll probably label the inside of them when I get home.
  19. Update time. I've been working away on my TK. Got a good bit done last weekend. Been slowly working during the week. Unfortunately I only have an hour or two a day during the week where I can work on it so not too much has gotten done. I've gotten the arms all assembled. Gonna wait till I've got the torso together and I have some assistance before I strap all the pieces together so I'm sure it will fit right. Probably going to paint my inner cover strips white before hand as well. Trimmed up the chest and an plate. Also got the brackets installed. Gonna have to teach myself to sew the elastic together as I don't have a sewing machine. Going to see avengers tomorrow so this is it for the week, but I've got my entire weekend open so I'm hoping to knock a bunch of this suit out.
  20. That looks to just be the IPO price. It jumps to $650 on May 17th and then will go up again sometime after that. I wouldn't worry too much about it as your RS is definitely worth the money you paid for it. Going to be interesting to see this at Celebration, if it ends up being pretty easily approvable I may tell some friends to jump on it while it's so cheap.
  21. Update time. Been slowly but surely trying to knock out this helmet during any free time I could get this last week. Finally finished my bucket today. It will never be "done" but I've already got thicker lens material and mesh for the frown on the way. It's definitely not perfect but I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out for my first try. I used trooper bay's stencils for the blue, and the lines on the back. Everything else was hand painted. I believe I still need to paint the screw heads white but I figured I would hold off in case I needed to take everything apart again for some reason. Gonna try and get some work done on the rest of the armor now but I'm also jumping back and forth with planning for Celebration. I'm flying out Wednesday and can not wait. Picture time! After I got both ears on. During the painting process "Finished" My first completed bucket selfie My new kicks from RS showed up as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Celebration!!
  22. I'm hoping to get my armor done in time to get approved for at least the last weekend. But I really don't know how much longer I have till it fills up.
  23. More elbow grease it is then! Got the right ear on, I don't think it looks too bad for my first attempt. Unfortunately I took too much off doing what I thought was a rough trim on the left ear. So bucket work is going to be postponed for a while. Pretty bummed about it but RS is throwing in a free set of ears with my boots and belt that they are shipping this weekend. I'm going to try and get some more work done on the forearms this week but I've got family coming from out of town on Saturday so the build is going to have to go on hiatus for a week. I'm going to try and get the bucket knocked out once they leave but almost immediately after they leave I'm flying out for Celebration! Then it's back to work.
