  1. The very same boots as the leather ones I just ordered Mark from 'trotters UK', what fabric dye did you use on the elastic?, I'm wondering if I could use the angelus brand leather paint I have for the elastic also, do you think acetone would be ok to prep these boots before painting?
  2. This looks like a great idea!, sorry if I'm stating the obvious but be sure to 'tin' your wires before soldering them to anything (i.e. coat them in a layer of solder), I've build audio cables before and the cooper wires surrounding the white and red wires are the ground.
  3. Thanks Tomas, yes I believe leather is a better way to go too, also for comfort, I get hot feet and they sweat a lot so I imagine leather would be better as far as been able to breath!. €30 does sound cheap for leather boots so I'm a little dubious about buying them, they seem like a reputable company, if they are good though could pave the way for a new supplier for troopers in europe on a budget.
  4. Hi people, I recently bought these jodhpur boots €30 from Adverts.ie, while waiting for armor, the guy told me they are a leather like material so bought them and also bought some acetone €10 and angelus white leather paint €20 while waiting for them to arrive in the post, got the boots in the post yesterday but they are rubber not leather or even a leather like material! . I read somewhere in a forum that plasti dip spray works on the rubber type Jodhpurs but its not available where I live and costs a fortune to get posted from US or UK, something like €30 or more for one spray tin!!!! including postage. Alternatively I could 'write off' the boots or sell them on as I have seen real leather Jodhpur boots delivered from the UK to me for just over €30, I could then use the acetone and paint I already have on them. Any thoughts on the style of the two types of jodhpurs in terms of accuracy and using them to get clearance when I get my armor? The rubber Jodhpurs:- The Leather Jodhpurs:-
  5. Does anyone know what the gloves with the anovos kit are going to be like, fabric, rubber, hand guards pvc/latex attached/removable etc?
  6. Maybe if you had a mannequin with hollow parts you could fill them with sand or a steel armature that runs through the parts of the mannequin that can be bolted together and fixed to the floor and runs all the way to the arms, just throwing ideas out there!
  7. Yeah the sterlings are heavy Michael, maybe if your mannequin can't take the weight you could support it with a thin piece of fishing line wired to the ceiling or some kind of counter balance in the mannequins back, lead weights maybe?
  8. When graphene batteries are available they are going to wipe the floor with regular lithium ion, a recent test showed a comparable graphene battery could store 10 times more power than a lithium ion battery, 30,000 mAh instead of 3,000 and 10 times the charging speed 15 minutes instead of two hours, after 150 charge/discharge cycles, it was also five times more effective than any lithium-ion battery currently on the market. Some great advances going on with graphene technology, they will be great for our lids!
  9. On a side note, and not in the right area to post I know, got myself a pair of boots from adverts.ie, surprised to find a pair in UK size10 as most places seem to be sold out of my size, maybe from all the preorder anovos folk like myself and also on a budget , just waiting for them in the post now, they look to be the correct shape, any thoughts? They are brown but I ordered some Angelus brand white acrylic leather paint, soon as i get them I will get to work with some acetone. and paint.
  10. Will probably use my doopys blaster with my armor or else my sterling but that could be heavy to carry around all day, also the law is a bit of a grey area here in Ireland with Deacts. Looking rather pleased with myself last summer with two E11's in hand!
  11. If there are any recycling places near you or you or someone you know has an old desktop or laptop computer, you can canabalise the fans from them, also if you have kids or know someone with kids you can cut the battery pack out of an old toy, a dremel is great for this, lots of toys often have a little switch on them near the battery compartment that can be used too. Just thought I would mention also using heat shrink tubing is much better and tidier than electrical tape around the wires, you can get it from an electrical shop, automotive shop or online, just get a size bigger than the wire, cut off enough to cover the joins, remember to slide it well back from where your soldering, solder the wire, slide it over the join and rub the soldering iron over it to shrink it over the cable, electrical tape is ok short term but it tends to unravel over time leaving sticky glue everywhere. A hot glue gun is also invaluable for sealing over wires and tidying things up and also fixing to your lid, watch the heat though and have a damp rag on standby.
  12. Hey Chris (themaninthesuitcase),sorry was busy the last few days, will PM you the code if you haven't already ordered your armor, if you have then no worries maybe somebody else can use it!
  13. Ah its all ok now, I was jumping the gun straight to paypal before entering delivery option, man the postage isn't cheap to Ireland 131 dollars (117 euro) and I choose the economy option too! They have given me a 10% discount code that has to be used by july 8th if anyone wants it?, did anyone else get this?, not sure if it can be used on something that is already on offer but worth a try!
  14. Hey Folks, the temptation to get this kit has become too much for me and I'm going to order one!, I've been so far through the online order form with Anovos and specified postage to ireland but the end of the checkout the delivery cost doesn't seem to be added to the total bill, does anyone know anything about this?, do they charge postage as a separate order or ask for it when the kits are ready to ship?, just want to make sure I get my order right!
  15. amazing skill and attention to detail Steve, looks so realistic, well done !!!!!!
  16. Not sure yet, I don't want the cog to be too obvious to detract attention away from the gun, I might put some danish oil on the oak though to bring out the grain and nourish it.
  17. Thanks David, I'm very pleased with the finished stand and best of all it didn't cost me much, a recycled off-cut of hardwood kitchen worktop and and old single glazed 6m(untoughened) patio door. Infact I don't think I spent anything on this build, I even had the perspex and silicone left over from another job. All I put in was time and effort! Taking your time is key with these kind of projects I find!
  18. Thanks guys I really appreciate the feedback and praise
  19. Thanks Ian, yeah if you ever need any advice on routing give me a shout, I'm no expert but I'm learning stuff all the time. Thanks also Andrew, the router if one of the most useful tools in my workshop!
  20. I know its a bit mad alright Aaron but I think the whole issue of deactivated weapons In The Republic of Ireland is a bit of a grey area with no definitive laws on them, because of this they don't really know how to classify them so they more or less just use the existing laws on the likes of shotguns etc. which you need gun safes for. Its a shame really as I would love to leave it permanently on display in the new display case I made, sometimes I put it in for the day but lock in up back in the safe if I go out or at night. Its ok though, the main thing is I have it so I don't care, I can take it out from time to time and just drool over it, lol!. As far as I know I'm the only person to own a deac sterling in the republic of Ireland, would love to know if anyone else does or is planning on getting one, maybe I could help out., troopers helping troopers
  21. Thanks Aaron, yes a very good job of deactivating was done on this by the 'The Birmingham gun barrel proof house', I think there is no fear of anyone ever trying to re-activate this gun as the process would pretty much destroy it. Here are copies of my documents, with some of the details blacked out just incase for legal reasons, if anyone is interested in them. Yes by the way Sergiu, you can pull back the cocking lever
  22. Some pics of my E11 sterling conversion on the stand!
  23. Couldn't resist posing for a few pics with my E11's
