  1. Cool. I will start trying to put the pics back soon. If for some reason I cant, I will let you know.
  2. Awesome!! Im ordering one of these soon. This tutorial will come in handy.
  3. Hello everyone, Been a looooong time since I've posted on here. I recently found the CD I had saved all the pictures for my MR CE helmet overhaul tutorial I did a while back. For some reason the photos dont show anymore. I thought I could try putting them back if anyone is interested in seeing the tutorial with pics back in. Just wandering.
  4. Yeah, these fit the MRCE really nice. Luis.
  5. Congratulations! Man, that is one nice looking car. As a fellow Vette owner I know just how excited you must be.
  6. I use a dremel tool with a small sanding drum and begin to widen the hole behind the areators. Do this carefully and a little at a time. You can see inside the screens while you work and tell how much plastic you are removing. Occasionally wiggle the areators to see if they becoming loose. Soon they will snap off leaving a lip where you can reinstall them or use other, more accurate tips (I highly recommend Stompers'). Luis.
  7. Found this. It's more to resemble damage from time and age, but I think it looks cool. I plan to use this technique on one of my helmets. Hope this helps. --------- Luis.
  8. I used some rubbing compound then wax on mine (both Turtle wax brands). But it has a clear coat on it. Man it's really shiny!
  9. Thanks Mike. I'm going to look for these today.
  10. Has anyone seen this helmet on eBay? Looks to me like a MR CE helmet. Look at the brow and the ears. Old link, no longer exists Sly11 2020
  11. You know, I really thought about doing that too. Although it's finished now I may still attempt that.
  12. Thanks everyone. I want to also thank all those who shared they're ideas and mods too. Thanks to John for the ears, thanks to Steven for the frown mesh, thank you Stomper for your aerators, and a big thanks to Mike. Mike's "Converting a TE2 into a Hero" tutorial was a great help and was the reason I wanted to try and make my helmet a little better. Don, I have been debating on doing anything to the inside right now only because I don't own a full armor and won't be trooping any time soon (being unemployed sucks!). But I do want to add stuff to the inside eventually.
  13. You know I couldn't find any. I'll keep looking. I agree they will look better.
  14. Finished the ears off today, so it's now complete, other than what I might do to the interior. Please let me know what you think. I had a question too: would this helmet be acceptable for trooping now? I will post pics of this helmet next to an unmodified one soon.
  15. Yeah I've been unemployed for about six months now. I too am a Mr.Mom to my 20 month old son. I love spending the time with him, but I really wish I could help support us financially. Glad my wife has a good job
  16. Correct, you would still need to sand it to remove the mold lines and to smooth out the putty under the frown. Looking forward to seeing how yous turns out.
  17. Looks like you've got it in order Noel. But I was thinking that since you are going to modify and reuse the original ears you may be able to skip some steps. I think once you have modified them they can be put back in the exact same place so you might not need to fill in the space behind them. This also means that you may not need to completely disassemble the helmet either. I took mine apart only because I specifically wanted to use other ears and not the original ones. And after removing them you can see that big gap. Also, I read in another thread that someone modified the brow without taking the cap off. they taped the area underneath and carefully cut away at the brow. Just something to think about. Let us know how it goes. Painted my ears today, so I should be totally done in the next few days. I will post photos of my modified CE and an unmodified one side by side.
  18. Thanks. Unfortunately it's about to pour down here so it won't be a good day to paint the ears.
  19. The ears came in a couple of days ago and I trimmed them. I will paint them tomorrow and detail them when they dry. I also installed the frown mesh too.
  20. I have ANH, ESB, and ROJ on CED and Laserdisc. Original unaltered and the laserdiscs are in widescreen. For those not familiar with CEDs they came before laserdiscs. They were 12 inch discs similar to laserediscs, but encased in a plastic caddy. The whole caddy was inserted into the machine and then you would pull it out leaving the disc inside.
  21. I painted the stripes today. I still need to touch them up a little.
  22. Don, that's looking awesome man. The latest on my ears is that a second pair is being mailed to me because apparently something happened to the first. So after waiting a month now I have to wait a few weeks more What can I do? But those ears make a difference don't they? I will start painting the tube stripes today and I've ordered some frown mesh too, so it's slowly but surely coming along.
