So, today I got my act together and got all done up to take clearance photos. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that it looks like my chest poppers came undone and I didn't have the overlap. *sigh*. Also my belt looks bad, not a good angle. But it was fun!

And it most definitely showed me what was still wrong. The biggest problem is that every couple of minutes my thighs lower about a cm. It's not much, but it's enough to go from good comfort levels, to:

They are held up by a thick elastic loop, with a normal everyday belt, but it's obviously not enough. Any advice, sorely (literally) welcomed!
I also need to chop off a fair bit of the material that's part of my neckseal as it sticks out everywhere.
Connecting shoulders was the hardest, actually. I got the left on fine, but I needed help with the right, i just couldn't get solid purchase on the popper. Similarly, shins I just couldn't do.
But hey, enough of boring clearance and similar worries, this has to be fun, right? So I went out. It was, even on a quiet sunday afternoon in the north of Cambridge, brilliant to see people wandering by, on bikes, in cars and especially the skateboarder with a Vader shirt on - and their reactions. Also wonderful to see how easy it is to fall into character. I didn't have my amp connected, but it was still amusing
(and you can clearly see the open chest join, sigh)

PS- Kevin dude, you're doing a RotJ, aren't you?
I don't even know how their arms were done
I am , yeah, I can't find anything too solid on how they did it but, as of now, I've not killed myself looking either I don't mind the material, I just want to be able to disconnect the arm sections, hence I'll replace the glued elastic with a snapper.
cheers all

Hi
I'm kinda stuck on what's probably the last part of my build, stupidly enough, attaching my holster to the belt. The combined thickness of the soft bits is more than anything I've done before and I'm not sure if my riveter is the right type for material (it's one of the cheap amazon ones: -----------
I know riveting is cent. level only, but it'd be nice to do anyway.
thanks guys

I figured the only real reason was "because its how it was in the movies". I may replace the glued down connection with a snap, just for ease. It wouldnt look any different.

I've been looking at my armour and wondering why forearms are attached to the biceps. My biceps are snapped to the shoulders in two places, and never ride upwards. My forearms have curved foam in, to match my arms and prevent movement.
At the moment the only thing the joining strap seems to do is make it harder for me to get on! Of course I can just rip it out and see what happens, but thought I'd ask first!
thanks

For that amount of AUS dollars you can get a CfO ROTJ suit (like mine) which is far, far better (imho) than any other ROTJ suit out there.

Aw cheers lads. Yeah, signed up for UKG, but still need my armour before I feel like I can properly become involved. At the moment I'm just some bloke...
Naaaah! I'm not cleared yet, either (though I'm about to submit), both places are great for info, questions and getting to know people - UKG for that especially as, after all, they'll be your troopmates

Turns out that 10 seconds with white spirit does it as well

Thanks all, will give some of the ideas a go!

Hello,
Feels more like a question for a home care forum but hey!
You know that slightly sticky residue you get when you peel off old sticky velcro or a sticker? Any top tips on how to clean that off ABS?
thanks all!

Very cool matey, makes me look even more forward to getting cleared with the UKG

Greetings James, don't forget to join up at the UK Garrison!

I'd go for straight ones
They'd be easy enough to scratch make (can anyone grab some measurements so we can make a template for these? Vern??)
The curved are prettier, true
But it's a RotJ blaster
I was just looking through my templates, they seem to be the only thing missing - such is life. Also need to get my hands on the right sights - I don't suppose anyone has any leads on sellers?
thanks

The only thing I'll say right here, in response to one of your points, is that CfO RORJ armour is 95% centurion standard, by CRL levels. Which may be a starting point if that is your final aim. You are also a little bigger, though smaller in height than me, so it'd fit you with basic alterations. However, centurion e-11 blaster for ROTJ is a big job.

Was that the droid you were looking for?

They are nice, arn't they? I was a bit sad when I had to dye my soles, spoiling the pristine look

As someone who'll be posting for clearance in the next month this is something I've been wondering also! Problem with the under the chest plate, for me, is that that is where I've mounted my amp and icomm.
-
But then I started to wonder, how does the public react to a HWT? Do they think you are just a clean Sandy, and therefore your costume seems incomplete to them?
I think in all honesty if you are are really talking "public", it doens't matter much so long as you look cool. I would hazard a guess that most poeple wonder why that stormtrooper is so dirty.

Welcome! Can't say anything about ESB armour, but welcome anyway and I'm sure the more knowledgable crowd will soon point you in the right direction.
Also cool to learn that EIB's are a "real life" thing
-
Welcome from the UK also, see you on UKG hopefully!

I got an iComm recently and even after getting stung by customs, have to say it's pretty damn cool. I would suggest replacing the mic, though, as the headset that it comes with is a bit rubbish.

Hi there
This thread might be a good read for you, different circumstances but same budget or so:

Awesome. The second reason I started this journey was the thought that star wars and it's fans can help people. My armour might not be finished, but my paypal works just fine, so, sent!
