Thanks all, I'll see how I can relocate them but it's interesting to see that others think the static is very loud as well.
-
This afternoon I also decided to try the original mic, just to check (the one in my lid is an Olympus ME 52) with pretty much identical results, except that as it was on my lips more or less, my voice slightly came throguh better. That said, it's still totally drowned out by the static.
-
I have awful visions of people wondering why my voice is coming out my cod.
-
I'm not using a switch, i don't use PTT. I've just realized the huge typo in my post! Sorry! I was looking at my armour and wondering where I could relocate one of the units to, not a lot of choice.

hey everyone,
Looking for some advice. I have an iComm + akar amp. both mounted in my chest piece and wired to a small mic in my helm, you can see a pic here:
-----------
I really don't want to use it with push to talk, one less thing to think about but I'm finding that it pops and does the noises almost continually, regardless of what I'm doing. Furthermore, my voice doesn't appear to come through the amp unless I literally yell (at which point it comes out the helm as well!). The static seems incredibly loud compared to my voice as well, if I turn the amp up to hear the voice, it's just daft, I really couldn't walk round like that, it leaves my ears ringing!
Not sure if I've missed some setting or something to balance the voice with effects?
Any advice welcome
Thank you.

Nobody ever comments on my thread. The views go up every time I post but no one bothers to interact. Are we scaring you guys with our angry building style?
Whats to say?! It's completely awesome. Simple!

So I decided to stop being a wimp and reshape my thighs with a heat gun. After much scientific measuring, it seemed that jamming a bluray box into the thigh to get the shape, then gently heating the ABS to "hot" to soften it, then letting it cool to keep the new shape seemed the best idea. I say best idea, I mean best guess. Even "best" is pushing it - but it worked!
From top to bottom, before, during and after. It doesn't look much but the difference is huge - no pain.
Thanks for all the advice guys. This was the last bit I needed so I finally have also applied for clearance

Amazing, pure n simple.

the Sith Trooper is the imperial version of the Republic Commando. but it looks different. if you want to see what i'm talking i'll send you a friend requst on facebook.
do you have facebook acount kaa 1304?
Thats ok, Ive been playing SWTOR since launch and thought you meant a class (the Imp version of the trooper is the bounty hunter)! I think I know who you mean though, the full armour trooper style guards on Korriban and the like?

Thats.. just... i could be my trooper...

Im also having a bad thigh time. I don't know how much my thread will be to you, but it might give you an idea.
-
Actually, yes, my shins - although not as bad as the thighs - do give me a little headache also.
I do have a heat gun but I've found that it tends to go from warm -> melting without much warning haha. I'm loathe to point it at armour, for this reason. Thanks for the tip though, I'll mull it over.

Fantastic.
One day... I'll be there....

Yes, it is CfO and I've also heard that rotj thighs are flatter... I think it may well be the problem , especially with the shims I've added. I have no idea how to reshaped them at all.I'd guess the reshaping needs to be done on the sides (ie not a join).
I'll look into a webbing bracer system, do you have any names or tips?
thanks

Hi Guys,
So I'm still having problems with my thighs. I got a heavy duty armed forces belt and I relplaced the thigh strap with heavy duty elastic, initially it's much better but again within steps, at least one of the thighs droops and bites into my knee. And I've added foam and sanded down the return edges!
I think the droop is caused by the fact I can't keep the belt in place - put on, it's all straight and nice, but the thighs pull it right down at the front :/ I dont seem to have too much give left in them to rotate them out, but the initial position is all good - if only it wouldnt move!
Starting to get quite frustrated with this. If anyone has any further advice, I'd be very grateful,
thank you,.

The shoulders (I have CfO also) should have a thin elastic strap holding them to the arm, black, and above the bicep armour (so it's not seen). Personally, I also added two snaps to the shoulders and bicep, one central, one front, to stop them from turning to my back as I moved. You can see the straps here:
The snaps are personal, but the elastic armband is a req. for EIB.
-
you might also be able to get you thighs to sit higher by rotating them outward slightly (hope that makes sense)
Those armour bites look pretty br00tal
Is there much of a return edge there?
It's not a huge return edge, but it is there. I also did a RE on the shims I added (seemed like a good idea at the time...) so I'll be removing some of it soon. When I was walking, to stop the pain I'd physically pull them up and rotate them slightly (thinking about it). My front photos show very little back between thigh and cod, so I could probably allow for an inch or so rotated out, just not sure how to keep them at a specific rotation angle?
thanks!
-
may I recommend putting a snap at one end only?
You'll never misplace your strap as I did, and you only have to re-do one end
Hehe exactly what I've done, thanks And yes... I have a misplaced, both ends, snap also, from my torso

Yikes. Thanks for that, will keep that in mind. Don't worry - better to be informed than introuble! I've removed the photos from the host site now, but I can still see them in this thread. No reason for the community to be judged on my stupidity.
Has anyone ever jumped in a pool wearing armor?

I'm sure the gear will be ok, but I'd be sure to have somone in the pool just in case you don't surface or you get disorientated and dont recover as quickly as you think you can. It doesn't matter how deep it is, or isn't, if you aren't upright quickly.
Also the helm flooding with water is psychologically very different to being submerged with a bare face.
But good luck and post photos
