  1. While I am newer to the Stormtrooper world, it being my 4th Star Wars costume I did, here's a nice article on me that a guy did at Dragon Con this year with the first Star Wars costume I made - Boba Fett. I thought he did a good job on it. This was my first big costume I ever did (1999), and periodically keep going back to doing upgrades on it here and there. This summer was the biggest overhaul I had done to it in many years, bringing me a new helmet, boots, vest, and jetpack + movie style harness combo. As odds have it, the interviewer saw my suit and told me it was one of the best Fetts he'd seen up close and wanted to do a pictoral of it. Guess I was just at the right place at the right time. One of those fluke things that happen at Dragon Con. Originally at the con he said they were going to be doing a whole spread on the 501st, but a few days after Dragon Con, he texted me and told me his editor nixed the 501st story but still wanted to run one on just my Boba Fett. Here you go: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57601814-1/behind-the-mask-how-a-star-wars-fan-became-boba-fett/ Out of all the different costumes I've made over the years (both Star Wars and non-Star Wars), none of them have the amount of labor hours, dollars, or time suited up at events that this one has into it. Since it was my first one, it's still what I consider my "flagship" of all my costumes, so yeah....I am proud of being able to have this nice article done about it. Since no Boba Fett costumer you talk to will ever say their costume is "done", yes, there are still a few minor tweaks I want to do to this costume, but as it stands right now, it's a solid representation of an ROTJ Boba Fett.
  2. I am trooping the Indy 500 Festival Parade in a couple weeks. It is an official LFL event to coincide with the opening of the new "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit at their local museum that weekend. I signed up as Boba Fett, but all face characters (like Boba) also had to submit a backup costume to Lucasfilm if they owned one. We submitted pics probably like 2 months ago. I have 3 other costumes besides Boba, so thought....hmm...... Yep. For my backup costume, I submitted shots of my TK while wearing a No Stripes helmet. Figured, why not. Let's see if they notice. Got word back today from the Bloodfin Garrison guy that Lucasfilm cleared both my costumes....aka Lucasfilm saw nothing wrong with the pics I sent them of the TK without tube stripes on his helmet.......
  3. Indeed! Strange how things work sometimes. I still say a No Stripes would still just be ANH-Stunt in the 501st designation roster. Just happens to not have the tube stripes like Stormtroopers in multiple scenes in ANH had.
  4. You should. You already have an existing ANH suit from ATA as your 501st accepted costume, why not make your RS a Centurion level accurate No Stripes costume? I totally would, if I had an RS.
  5. OK then. Mr No Stripes is screen accurate. I already planned on sometime getting a "normal helmet" to compliment the No Stripes one, but for now have just liked rocking the No Stripes at troops.
  6. My GML is super old school 501st (almost since it started) and fully agrees with what you also just said about "if it is seen on screen, it is canon". I made all the same points to him about the helmet that I have made here in this thread back when I first got my TK, and he even had more points about the Mr. No Stripes helmet to add to it on top of what I told him.
  7. I don't think any of the 501st rules even have to change for No Stripes. He'd just be counted as an ANH-Stunt designation, which is what he is, anyway.
  8. I guess it’s just confusing to me that something seen on screen that many different times isn’t considered canon. It’s more screen accurate than an FX helmet.
  9. I just don't get it. There's EU bounty hunters and so forth in the 501st who had to stretch to find the 3 pieces of official things to become "official costumes" in the Legion, and yet here's a type of TK that is plainly seen all over ANH from beginning to end, and discovered 3 of them blasted by Luke and Han and a 4th one still running around the movie after that.....and he doesn't count as a 501st TK, they keep saying? A type of Stormtrooper seen on screen is not "canon" enough, even though he's everywhere in all the major TK scenes throughout the entire movie, and even has a speaking line? Makes no sense to me at all.
  10. Good observation. Maybe they did.
  11. After Han, Luke, Chewie get in the elevator to go to the detention area, a group of 10 Stormtroopers walk by in 5 rows of 2. Row #4 on the wall side is a No Stripes...... .....and is seen chilling out around other parts of the Death Star as well...... But, we all know his most famous scene is this one:
  12. After the heroes manage to kill 3 different Stormtroopers with no tube stripes, here's yet another one running around while the Rebel ships are attacking the Death Star:
  13. Soon thereafter, yet another No Stripes (this time with a DLT-19 rifle and no E-11 holster) goes strolling through the Falcon.... .......and who can forget his classic moment in the "Close the blast doors! Open the blast doors!" scene?
  14. The "two No Stripes in the same room at the same time" scene I mentioned earlier (even though yeah it's probably the same helmet shot at different times ).....when Vader was talking to the officer outside of the Falcon: ......and finishes that conversation with "I sense something. A presence I've not felt since....." and walks off...... Right behind Vader as he leaves are these guys:
  15. Possibly liquid latex armor parts? A lot of Predator armor is made from that and it can crease like that if you bend it.
  16. So if No Stripes was a 501st member, his designation for sure would be the one called TK-Stormtrooper: ANH Stunt. Which is what I've been saying all along. Thanks for the info on the stunt guys names, troopermaster. I didn't know of any other names besides Peter Diamond.
  17. The on-screen deaths of 3 different Stormtroopers during the heroes escape from the Death Star......that had no tube stripes. #2 (Special Edition cgi troops behind) #3
  18. Yep. That's one of the shots I was referring to. One of the 3 times No Stripes is killed during the movie, in different locations. It's kind of funny since we know they made what...like 50 TK helmets for ANH, that No Stripes is seen in almost all the main TK scenes throughout the whole movie. That's why I think he's cool. He's different than the rest.....well, except Gap Tooth helmet. He also is different than the rest in his own way.
  19. Oh, cool. Didn't really know.
  20. I thought all the added cgi guys in that one scene they added behind the original ANH guys there (including No Stripes) were ROTJ looking troopers? That's how they sort of looked to me.
  21. Last night just for fun, I slow-moed through some of the other TK scenes that aren’t a No Stripes “main scene†I knew of him, and found him again in that group of 5 rows of 2 walking down the Death Star hallway immediately after Luke, Han, Chewie get on the elevator to head to the detention area. Row #4 on the wall side. I'd be able to tell for sure if I had Blu-Ray and a big HD screen. In the “Luke, we’re gonna have company†scene, as the TK’s blow the hole in the door of the detention area to get the heroes, I noticed the first TK through the door that gets shot by Han is a No Stripes. So, that makes 3 predominant scenes where a No Stripes TK gets shot by the heroes. The other two scenes being when Han is chasing the group of TKs down the hallway (though none of them have No Stripes helmets during that running scene), when he gets around the corner to the end (in the Special Edition, the part they put the cgi TKs behind the original group), the one TK right in front Han shoots is a No Stripes. Then again when the heroes are running to the Falcon during the Vader/Obi-Wan lightsaber battle, Luke shoots 3 of the 5 TKs there, and the second one to get shot is a No Stripes. So, counting the movies as the true “canonâ€, besides the scene I mentioned in my last post where there were two different No Stripes guys in the same room at the same time, over the course of the time spent on the Death Star, Han killed two No Stripes TKs, and Luke killed a third one. Thus showing us that "production error" or not, in the canon world of the original movie as seen on screen, there were a bunch of TKs running around the Death Star with no tube stripes on their helmets. They're all over the movie once you go looking for them.
  22. If I go to troops in my TK costume, it's always in my No Stripes helmet. Because if there's a crowd of us, I can instantly pick me out. But then again.....my Snowtrooper is also the one Snowtrooper seen on the set of ESB missing his center red button on his chestplate (which is the chestplate they used on the Magic Of Myth display). My Garrison CO tells me....."Always gotta be the rock star, don't you?" My GML asked me to send him "a pic of a No Stripes" in case anyone on the Legion Membership group had any issues. I sent him like 15 pictures...... -On Tantive IV -On the Death Star -On the Millennium Falcon -In the Special Edition with cgi Stormtroopers behind him -On the front of 5 different action figure packages (not to mention a whole lot of other Star Wars merchandise released at the time) There's even one scene on the Death Star where in movie continuity there's 2 of the No Stripes guys in the movie scene at the same time. Yeah, it's probably due to editing, but in the movie "canon" (which everyone around here seems to count as #1)....2 No Stripes actually exist in the same room at the same time. When Vader is talking to the officer outside the Falcon, there's a No Stripes in the group behind Vader (in the classic photo we've all seen) and another No Stripes right behind the officer Vader is talking with. Also a No Stripes was seen walking through the inside of the Falcon with a DLT-19 rifle. Heck, he's even the one TK that stun-beamed Leia and had a speaking line: "She'll be alright. Inform Lord Vader we have a prisoner". On the Death Star, a No Stripes is seen chasing Han and Chewie while at the same time on a different part of the Death Star (in movie canon), another No Stripes is seen shooting at Luke and Leia across the chasm before they swung across. Then, there's a No Stripes again in the group that the main characters are shooting at right in front of the Vader and Obi-Wan lightsaber duel before the Falcon leaves. Someone once told me...."He's super cool. He's like the Boba Fett of Stormtroopers !!!".....and since I have been a Boba Fett costumer since 1999, I'll take that as a compliment and will continue to troop events in my No Stripes helmet, and if my 501st TK designation gets yanked because of it, that is just dumb because he's perhaps the most well known Stormtrooper of them all.
  23. That is a fun parade. I trooped it in my Tusken back in 2003.
  24. The one C-3PO I know uses the same Aker 10w amp we TK's use, and mounts it inside the backplate hump. Small holes drilled in the right spot lets sound clearly through.
