1. TK8922 requesting 501st access please. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=12978&costumeID=126
2. They're either Dr Martens Mayer or Talib. Both share a sole but the uppers have subtle differences. This has been documented in other threads but I think this post is the first to put them together and highlight the differences.
3. I went to a local paint place and got a match to the Anovos helmet. My kit is now one uniform colour; I've seen ones that aren't and they stand out a mile!!!!
4. The buckles I could get in any number but the straps are the problem.

How did you compare sizes? Did you access to a screen used vest?
5. Ok then Tony, buckles. I've been in contact with all sorts of people to find the manufacturer of our elusive buckles and straps. The good news is that I've found them; one for the buckle and another for the strap. The problem lies in the fact that I'd have to purchase 1500 straps as a minimum order. I'm waiting for an email from the manufacturer to see if there ae any distributors that deal in smaller numbers. This pushes the cost up per unit but the overall cost will be cheaper for me! The cost so far is reasonable but the numbers just don't add up. I'll end up forking out about £2000 up front for stuff that will grace by man cave drawers. I'll post an update once I get my work email back (I've just moved post and my profile is being rebuilt). Fingers crossed for a result. A.
6. Thanks chaps; I don't have any plans for EIB or Centurion but I'll take your advice on board. This is a filler costume to do events where only TKs are required. My FO TK is on hold as I can't get gaskets that I can get my arms in.

I always said I'd do TK on day and it's very close now tHanks to your comments.

The lense looks so green as it was a bright day, it's looks fine once the helmet is on my head ;-).
7. I belong to the Royal Navy's Commando Helicopter Force better known as the "Junglies"; the scout comes from my first cleared costume.
8. No comments fellas?? I'd like to finish this soon but need constructive feedback please.
9. After a very hefty layoff I've managed to get to the test fit stage. I'd like to say this was a quick kit up today but it wasn't; it took bloody ages!!! Still if it wasn't for a shoulder popper going pop this might not have looked too bad. Shins are riding high and rear cover strips not fully finished at the bottom (plan on for them), cut outs at rear of knees required and total replacement of elastic in the upper arms. The stuff I have is just not stretchy enough amazingly?? Well I'll put these up for general concensus then...........
10. Tony,

I'm just back from enjoying my Norway deployment. I've had communication from the guys that support the Mk 15 helmet and they've given me the name of the manufacturers/distributors of the ratchet body and ratchet strap. I'll contact them on Moday and see what happens.

Unfortunately the contract is no longer and the information is dated so fingers crossed!!!!
11. Gents, Theories aside, I can tell you that for the casting call for Ep 8 Stormtroopers, all auditionees (me included) had to be between 5'10" and 6'1" tall and have 38-42 inch chest and 32-34 inch waist. So; for the films there you have it. In the Star Wars Universe..........whatever you want it to be I suppose!!!!!
12. No dramas, I can see the merit of getting it right first time. I agree that the buckles I have do have a rounded detailing on the upper surface which isn't right. I've submitted a request for a quote on ISO Parts for straps at a 100 units (each unit will have 2 straps on it). Lets see what they come up with regarding a price?
13. Working on it fellas. I got the manufacturer yesterday from my stores guy and had a quick look. They're based in the uk and make bloody all sorts. I left the name of it on my desk unfortunately and I'll have to pick up again on Monday.

Hopefully they'll put me in touch with a distributor otherwise the order numbers will be silly. The clip maybe a knats off but are we agreed the strap is right? Besides I can only see that the spring clips on the buckle are slightly different. My visual dictionary and recent hi res photos show that the difference is hardly worth worrying about tbh, well at least for now. We can continue to look for the grail in less rushed fashion then.
14. Got the straps etc and these are the pics I've taken so far. It includes the packets they came in but again I can't work out who the manufacturer is. I'll ask my stores chap tomorrow to interrogate the system and try to find out. I'm afraid thats all I've got for now. I'll try and see if I can get at least who makes these things; someone must know!!!!! Hopefully they may be of some help too??
