  1. Take a look at the assembly tutorials. There are excellent details for how to assemble all of the different pieces of armor.  My suggestion is to do plenty of research before you start trimming and gluing.

Good luck.  And feel free to post pics or ask more questions if you get stuck.

  2. Hello Troopers!

My name is Almir, and I've been lurkin' on FISD for a while now. I only recently started attempting to put my armor together, and thought it would be a wise choice to finally register and start being active on here :)

When I'm not in school or at work I'm usually in front of the computer designing illustrations and graphic, a lot of which is Star Wars inspired. I am also a serious Instagrammer, if you're interested in checking out my work just look me up on there: @imperialgrunt.

Now off to explore the forums!

Welcome aboard!  I especially like saying hi to my fellow CA troopers.

Getting on the forum is a GREAT idea as you start your build. Doing research here and bookmarking threads I found helpful was so beneficial to my ATA EIB build.

Best of luck, and ask all the questions you need!

  3. Had the same problem with my shoulder bells, I ended up putting snaps further to the front on the elastic shoulder straps and this has stopped them rotating. I have adjustable straps on my thighs and found I needed to pull mine up too. Some photo's would be great to give us a better idea of what you are talking about.

x1.  Moving my snaps just a bit more forward stopped my bells from rotating. Yay!  This was a real pet peeve for me, so I was glad to get it fixed!

  4. How are your shoulder bells attached to the shoulder? Mine are attached with snaps to the white elastic I have connecting my chest and back plate (underneath the ribbed shoulder ABS pieces.)  One of my shoulder bells was always sneaking back / open like yours, so I moved the snap on the white elastic forward a bit. This helped close up the gap I had.

See before and after pics below.

Here's a link to the tutorial on how to attach your belt to your ab piece.

  5. Oh and reallising after 10 minutes of have photo's taken with the public that I didn't need to smile as I was wearing a lid LOL :laugh1:

    +1.

I am not super cautious but I do find myself moving a bit more carefully than normal. I haven't broken into dance yet.  :)

I always end up a bit stiff after a couple of hours in armor, but I think that's because my movement is a bit more limited and my posture is forced to be a bit different than I am used to?

  6. I have latex handguards and have the same issue as the first post.  I let my forearms hang attached by the strap to the bicep until I'm completely ready then AFTER I put the gloves on I squeeze my hand in the glove and handguard through the opening.  It's not exactly easy but it works and it's better than trying to stuff that glove into the front opening of the forearm.  I've also found that it's easier to get myself ready if I leave the forearms of until everything is done.

    Just my 2 cents.......

Very interesting idea! I always find this part of getting suited up annoying, so I think I will try your way on my upcoming troop.

    Awesome! Thanks for the updates!

    Looking good :duim:

    Thanks guys!

I submitted my pics for approval on my birthday, March 5, and I got my official notification just a few minutes ago.

    "Dear Keith,

I am writing on behalf of the Golden Gate Garrison of the 501st Legion to officially thank you for your additional costume submission.

I have thoroughly reviewed the photos you submitted and are pleased to APPROVE your Imperial Officer: Staff Officer (ID) costume!
    "

So my ID is now official, and I can cross that goal of my 2013 list. Woo-hoo!

  8. It's been an eventful week for my Imperial Officer build. My Merr Sonn Power 5 blaster arrived and it looks awesome.

I worked with my mom to build a holster for the blaster using a thread on the IO forum. http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/784-tutorial-build-your-own-dh-17s-holster/page__hl__holster__fromsearch__1

The build went well. It took about three hours but everything went pretty smoothly. We used a brown pleather. If I make another holster in the future, I will probably use leather because it is stiffer and will hold the weight of the blaster better. We had to reinforce the holster on the inside to keep it from buckling under the weight of the blaster. I am really pleased with how it turned out though, and I think it looks good!
