I use Rustoleum High Gloss Professional (The silver can, make sure its the high gloss) I use that for my TK buckets I paint and you can get a very nice gloss from them. You will have to spray it a little heavier thank usual. put on a few light coats and the a few heavy coats. This is out of the can, just the paint itself..

Hello Troopers, I wanted to share my RS Props HDPE helmet WIP. i haven't gotten much done yet. Just trimmed the eyes out and the ears. Ive never worked with this kind of plastic yet, so its taking me time to get there. After trying to assemble the helmet, i noticed that the ears sort of have gaps, I've been battling with it all night long to find the position of the faceplate so there wouldn't be too much gap. The pictures show what I've gotten so far. I haven't got to screw in the bottom of the ear so you'll notice big gaps. (ill post more pictures when they're screwed in). This kit is a lot of fun to work wit, although I'm afraid to mess it up. I have a few questions for you guys that i hope can help me, my main concern is the painting process on this kit. Should i primer it first like every other helmet that i paint? or should i paint straight on top of the HDPE? because i know that on the original helmets, when the paint chips, you could see the HDPE base color. and should i sand it before paint. well i post more progress pics soon, i hope you guys could point me in the right directions...thanks all... enjoy.. ohh btw, i had a really dumb question i need to ask, how do you guys upload very nice looking high resolution pictures to the forum. I've been trying to do it for a while now and has not worked, i tried using photoshop to re size the image or resolution but has not worked..Let me know please, i hate having to put up links like I'm doing now. Thanks again guys......

Rezablad3 replied to RS Prop Masters's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
HI Gang, just thought that I'd share this with everyone. a package came to my doorstep today that really made my day. My RS HDPE finally arrived. To tell you the truth I'm pretty much scared to start working on this kit, its so delicate and i don't have the skills like Joey and many other members on this forum, so I'm afraid that ill mess it up. perhaps i would wait for you more experienced guys get yours done and start asking for assistance in building mine. This thing is a beaut, so detailed... i could honestly say that this is the ultimate Stormtrooper bucket. I'm just glad that i was able to get one of these in my hands. I wanna thank RS props for making this happen. -

Thermal Detonator paint color
Rezablad3 replied to Rezablad3's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I'm building a ANH TK, its an AP kit. I think i might just go with paint cuz i think paint will have more of that shinny effect than just using grey pvc, but i guess ill wait for more of you guys to chime in. But this is great, at least i have options now, and i guess i can have some sort of trial and error basis on my part, which will help me better into a future build. Thanks a whole bunch guys...... -

Thermal Detonator paint color
Rezablad3 replied to Rezablad3's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
ahhh...sweet, so it should be the same color as the Ab buttons right? and would i find these in home depot? or a special paint shop? I'm using paint for this cause my kit already came with a black pvc. i don't want it go to waste, so ill just use that. Thanks for the tip guys. This helps a lot. Reza -
Hey all, I'm about to begin building my thermal detonator, i was wondering what color paint to use, i know it should be grey, but not sure of what type of grey and what brand to use. any advice would be most helpful. Thanks Regards, Reza

Again, thank you for all the great comments... making me very happy and more optimistic on finishing this build I'll try to work more on the knee ammo, do you have any specific measurements on where it should be? The shoulder straps are only attached to the front, they're only sitting there in the back. -

Thanks Travis for the tip, i just uploaded the pictures to photobucket, I hope this will be better for you guys to see the pictures. @ Joey : i thought of trimming the butt plate as well, but im afraid that it would look not proportional. but ill wait till these larger pictures have been uploaded for you too see and waiting on other inputs from people Thanks you guys.. -

Thank you for all the great comments..... I tried to attach larger and separate pictures earlier, but it seem that i cant cause the maximum file attachment size available was so small. Could you tell me how to attach large multiple pictures...so i can put larger images for you guys to see.. Thanks..... -
Hi everyone, I'm a bit nervous about posting my pictures here, but in need of your feedback and guidance..... This is my first time in my AP armor, i was wondering if this is a good fit on my body, if everything is positioned in the right place... Just to let everyone know that I'm not 100 % done with the build, i still have a lot to do, i still have to attach the knee plate, ab buttons, thermal detonator, drop boxes and the holster and if you notice in some of the pictures, the boots was way to big on me. oh and i havent blackened the mic tips yet........ but i feel at this point, some advice and feedback from you guys would most helpful i do feel that the thigh piece is a bit to big for me, so i have minimal movement. and i feel that the chest piece is riding a bit low, so i'll have to keep trimming here and there to make it perfect. I hope you guys could provide me with your thoughts and insights.. i am planning to join my local garrison very soon and hopefully getting approved by the 501st so I'm open to any advice, suggestions and criticism..... Thanks a whole bunch.......

That sounds great, ill try to post some pictures really soon.

thank you all for the advice, for bending the armor i'll try to use the hair dryer method or the boiling water. as for the thigh piece, im sure that its ABS glue cause the previous owner told me so, so i guess ill have to try to find another way to take them apart. Thanks a lot you guys, this helps a lot....... im so thankful for this website, its awsome..

Hi all, i just got my half assembled AP kit not to long ago. I so happy, and cant wait to finish it. Most of the part fits me perfectly. but there were a few parts that i have to trim and re size to fit me better. 1st : The ab plate seem to curve a bit wide, perhaps the person that owned the kit before me was a bit bigger than me. does anyone have any tips on how to bend the ABS plastic so it would wrap around my body better without damaging the armor itself? 2nd: The thigh armor was too long and too big for me, i have researched ways on trimming it to make it shorter, but i'm having trouble on how to make it smaller because the two pieces are glued together with ABS glue, is there any type of solvent or any way to take the glue apart so i cab re size it to fit my thigh better ? i would appreciate all the help i could get, i found this website to be really helpful. hope to get some tips and insights. Thanks a whole bunch.. Cheers

That's what i thought also, I'm still in search for the armors that would fit me best. I've been in and out of forums and thinking that the AP armor would fit me best cause I'm small. And working on my own kit does sound like a lot of fun, cant wait for that..... thanks a bunch for the advice, this helps a lot...
