Hot glue things I typically can just pull off without anything else, maybe a butter knife as leverage.
Also, have you considered padding instead of hard hat liner? I've got hard hat liner in mine and I've tried on helmets with padding and I like padding much better. The hard hat liner takes up quite a bit of room (or at least in my bucket it does).
Good luck!

I've only had 1 or 2 snaps fail and 1 snap tear through its strap. Most of my "maintenance" is giving the armor a buff and wipe down after each troop which probably takes less than 30 minutes (and to be honest I probably only do it once every 3 troops unless there is some really noticeable mark).

Awesome! Glad you were able to find the correct resources to build a great costume!

No worries, feel free to communicate with me on here if you have any questions! Just curious, where did you first find out about the 501st? Did you get a chance to meet some members at any events recently?

Welcome, Anthony! My name is Bennett, I'm a TK representative in the 70th Explorers garrison. I'm out in KCK. 70th Explorer's covers your region, but another garrison in the area in Garrison 66, based in Springfield. I'd recommend checking out 70thexplorers.com and garrison66.com and introducing yourself! If you need any help with your build feel free to post pictures and ask questions here! Also, if you look me up on facebook (Bennett Gladden) I can provide some additional guidance there. There are quite a few opportunities for trooping in our garrison, but some of them do take a bit of traveling to get to.
Looking forward to your build progress and trooping with you in the future!

I'm still working with TKs in my area on nailing a name down before we create a team, looking forward to it!

Another video update. A 3po builder was asking me about my arm construction so I threw this together real quick.

Some more updates! Legs and torso mods.

You've done a very nice job assembling your helmet! Looks like you are moving right along

Congrats on your armor! Now the fun begins!

Welcome Jacob! Nice to know we will have another TK in the KC area! Feel free to contact me for any questions. Also, if you'd be interested we could probably get you involved as a handler at some events while you do research/work on your costume.

Welcome Stephan! Looking forward to meeting you at events and such in our area. Looks like you've taken a lot of the right steps so far. Hopefully someone more familiar with TKC armor can chime in to help you out. I would recommend an armor supplier on here rather than looking elsewhere. The quality will be much better here.
As for TK boots, since you have some time before the armor gets in, I would check the personal for sale area here every so often. TK boots of various sizes pop up every so often.
Best of luck! Feel free to shoot me a message here or on Facebook if you have any questions.

I'd echo the sentiments of those above me, unless you have to order within the continent, I'd go with Karin's.

Someone around here has the meme.... I only know the quote...
"Ebay, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy"

"These suits are super hard to get and very rare but the prefered suit of the 501st."
False advertising?

There are several different makers here in the "on going sales" area or you can check out the one that trooperbay.com offers

Very nice armor! One day I will get a TM or RS helmet! They are such nice looking pieces!

Pics or it didn't happen Congrats!

I didn't think I was handy at all either, but I had very little trouble assembling my costume. Best of luck to you and be sure to take lots of pictures and ask lots of questions!

Welcome aboard! Looks like Ingrid has pointed you to the most relevant and best places to start! If you aren't familiar with the various styles of stormtroopers you can either look at the build threads section or CRLs (http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL
)
which spell out more clearly the differences.
Good luck!

Great work on those ears. It really is the hardest part of the suit, the rest should be a breeze for you!

If you're a smaller person it can be appropriate to take a little off the cod. I know it is something I've been planning to do with my TK for a while. The cod region of the armor for me is larger than my groin area so the cod armor cuts into the inside of my legs a little, but it isn't terrible (I've trooped it that way for over a year now). My eventual mod will probably be to sand or trim about an eigth of an inch off the edges of the cod region.

I know some garrisons invite prospective members out as handlers and photographers to some events, so it would definitely be worth getting in touch with your locals. Welcome to the board!

I'd have to agree with the previous 2 post, unless you absolutely hate it, I think that ear is good to go. I've seen people approved with much larger gaps. The front looks amazing (much better than any of my original attempts) and the back is only off by a little. One thing to keep in mind is that almost no one will ever be looking at the back of your helmet; most people want a picture with the TK from the front, unless they are checking out your assets

Not much to show for my recent progress, almost everything I have left is sanding and priming, sanding and priming and sanding again, then the suit should be off to the metalizing company!
