Hey guys... just doing my look for gloves and found --------------
Thoughts?
-
Well, the helmets had a gap between the ears.
Check out reference pictures on StarWarsHelmets.com — just be careful, the more you research and the more look the more you'll start daydreaming of upgrading the FX to a more accurate bucket! Then it's not long until the $$ — or the £ £ — will start flying out the door.

I don't understand what is so special about TM, i had one and i traded it for a Rubies .

Awesome job man, and beautiful suit!!
Don't you love the colour of that white ABS?!
So dead-on amazing!!

Go to Staples, or some office supply place and look on the isle with staples and paperclips. They have boxes of them... all copper, all 3/8" heads, and different lengths.

Talking of stunt suits....if they existed
I noticed yesterday that some of the guys sniper plates look yellow and floppy at times.
Will have to dig the scene out
I guess I doubt they had "different suits for stunt men"... but I don't doubt they did different things when dressing the stunt man for a scene.

Depends on if you're copying a specific helmet or not.
For instance, my sandtrooper has black on the inside because it's copied from the "move along" trooper... the only sandtrooper with all black.
There's one trooper in ANH who has one white and one black mic tip.
And for my ESB bucket I'm leaving the insides white.
So it's up to you... but if you're copying a movie or trooper so some research from the movies to see if they were painted or not!
Measure twice, cut once, and ask 1,000 times!

That's okay, Matt. You're a TK, you'll miss.
Hey... when did they ever miss when they were not COMMANDED to miss!
-
If he was a (literal) "stunt" man then his strapping could've been completely different... especially if he was one who took a blaster hit.
Look at this guy from ESB who's about to get blasted... he's obviously got on more than any sort of strapping system of any kind.
I'm sure they would've done all sorts of things to rig them up for a squib to go off.
Maybe someone else will actually know an answer... but that's my thought.

I hate asking all the questions but I am trying my best to get this right... AND I think Im going to need the help..
Glad you got the help man!
And never, ever worry about asking a lot of questions! Believe me, I've been doing this a while now and STILL have to clarify things 100 times before I get it right in my head!

This may be a case of putting the cart before the horse, but I like to plan ahead. I plan on doing double duty after I finish my TK I would like to also attempt a HWT. I have had issues trying to register on MEPD with my current name, so does anyone have the contact info for crashman? From what I have heard he is the one to go to for the radio... Thanks
Message me what your MEPD login is (should be) and I'll see if I can figure it out.
Don't need to send your password... I'll reset it if I have to and tell you...
But the whole "cross login" rarely works (if that's all your trying).
You should try — again, if you've not already done this — creating an account with your email and the login you want.
Or message me, like I said, and I'll help out.

Thanks!, Yeah I love my TM Helmet, I can get my head in without hassle (I also have an AP in progress, and my head barely can get in there)
I have a TE2, which I also love — makes amazing sandtrooper buckets I think!!! — but it is a bear to get off. Putting it on is fine, getting it off is easier without my nose or ears.
Of course it has a very high brow, which makes the opening smaller.
Okay, sorry to hi-jack... onto your EIB!
-
Good luck man!
I'm working on my ESB as we (well... as I) type.
Isn't that TM helmet incredible?!
-
Hi Noel the pictures you have shown of my first TMâ„¢ suit above I just simply added the rivets and snap for looks. They had no actual function ....
Yes, I thought as much.
And that's honestly what I guess I'm going for.
The exterior should look right... the interior needs to simply work for trooping.
-
If you want to buld your kit to achieve EIB then do whatever is necessary. I am not familiar with whatever the requirements are, nor do I care. Only ANH screen accuracy all the way for me baby
Okay! That's where my communication was faltering then.
SO... I guess my question is, do I have the right hardware (i.e., split rivets and snaps) for the outside if I only care about the outside?
-
So is this suit that Mark did with the rivets on the side done with original strapping?
This is what (I thought) I was trying to do... but I realize I may be missing something completely.
-
i.e., my end goal is to be able to go EIB with all of the things needed for that.
IF that means I should use a different system for strapping to make it 1) better or 2) possibly easier in the long run... then that's what I should do.
I've not touched the armor yet, so this is when to decide.
-
Okay... I see what you're saying!
(this is coming after my last PM btw...)
Yes then, I want to keep and use the standard strapping system still.
All I want to do is add the rivets and snap on the side to be there as show. So I can do that for show, then add the strapping inside.
Is this... or am I... making sense?
So basically do this...
If this all makes sense I go back to my question above... do the rivets I have look right for the side?
-
First off the accepted spelling is all one word, "stormtrooper." hahaha
Seriously... welcome!
-
Hey Dan, welcome!
You guys in the OLG sure do have a great website!
-
Here's what I got... does this look right?
If the word is, "spot on/perfect" then I'm happy... if it's even just "okay" then I'll send more money for different stuff from you Paul.
Rivets for side (to be painted white once in)
Snaps for right side top ab plate and crotch
Of course too I'm planning on just putting the rivets in the side and using the snaps/strapping I got with the kit for the actual connections.
But, I want this to be great, and if I have to wait a while to get it right it's worth the wait!
-
Oh... 'S' spring snaps and brads OR split rivets for the sides...
Aren't split rivets accurate for ESB?
-
Noel,
If you had told me you were going this route with your strapping I would have included every conceivable part with your standard strapping.
You want small 'S' spring snaps and brads or split rivets for the sides.
Sorry I didn't clarify... which I totally didn't.
I found some 3/8" split rivets for the sides... and a set of camping snaps (the same as what you sent on the strapping) for the side male snap and the crotch.
So I think I'm good. All the rest is "interior"... right?
What are the 'S' spring snaps for and brads for though?
(I research and think I know it all then something comes up and I realize I still don't.)
I'm really only worried about the exterior looking correct though... the interior should just work.
-
So where is the best place to get the split rivets and "plain" snaps for the sides and crotch?
My heart is set on a TE helmet need info though.
