Looking good Simon! Yesterday, after much frustration, I used the decals for the back traps instead of hand painting it cause it looked too crummy. I'm reasonably happy with the tears though so they're alright. Neil: How far are you with yours? I spent near enough 2 days non stop working on mine to get to where I am, I may be a teeny bit burnt out stormtrooper-helmet-wise haha. There's nothing wrong with taking it steady

TK 6908's AP ARMOR BUILD[*AP]
Lizzeh replied to Darth Voorhees's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looks fantastic Lou -
I wasn't too happy with the cap/brow, it was kind of loose and slipping, so I fiddled with how it's sat. I think that's better, but now there's great stonking gaps on the ears I guess I'll put back to how it was before, heh or get new ears, but I can't till I'm less skint. Ah well

New alternative to CA Boots
Lizzeh replied to Billhag's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Hmm I'm not sure about those, they look rather square, the U shape is weird and they're perhaps not tall enough? I'd have to see them with armour -
Looks good to me Simon My brow is a little low actually - lower than yours - I'm thinking about making it a teeny bit higher. Tomorrow perhaps
-
Haha that is true And no problemo thanks again btw
-
Thanks. I'm so shaky with a paintbrush, it's awful haha
-
Erk bad photo But, that's where i'm at with the stripes. The plan is, when the black is dry, I can neaten them a bit more with grey/more black Thats the plan anyway, heh

Stop, Rebel scum! Set blasters on full! Love love love it haha
-
They had me at the Tantive raid But it was the computer games that reaaally made me want armour. Dark Forces, roaming around Imperial bases and seeing all the troopers.. well, get slaughted haplessly, but they looked so darn cool. I've wanted to be a stormtrooper ever since
-
Thanks guys I've done a tad more.. tomorrow, it's STRIPE TIME
-
Yeah I guess that's what I did. Ah well, it doesn't look too bad
-
They're more like scratches than cuts! I'm more annoyed about the trousers, I liked those. Ah well, at least I didn't spill it on the helmet
-
Ah I'm scared of dremels, knives are much less whirry. Best o luck cutting it, it's easy enough OK I've started painting it today: (you can see my crappy left ear in there, there's quite a gap and I'm not 100% on how I'll fix it. Maybe I took too much off?) As you can see.. I'm not a neat painter, I get it all over my hands and forget about it, hence the grubby finger marks everywhere. Oh well, it comes off easy enough, when it's all dry I'll give it a clean and a polish and all should be good
-
Nice, how was the troop? Looking forward to seeing the helmet Hehe I'm already wanting another helmet to build, ooh the choices! And I used a knife, a scalpel type one I'd imagine scissors would do it, the plastic isn't that tough, but I've never tried them
-
Thanks guys I'm painting it at the moment, I'll post pics when I'm done Neil: How far are you with yours? Got pics?
-
Whee! So, I got a lovely AP helmet kit yesterday I've been working on it all last night and today, and here's where I'm at: and after a minor accident >_< I got the frown almost painted: I figured the paint incident was a sign to take a break. Until tomorrow! I think I'm gonna hand paint the rest of the helmet rather than use the decals.. when I get a new pot of grey The ears were a pain in the backside and I'm still not happy with them. I'll get some better pics of them tomorrow. Other than tweaking the ears and painting it, all I need is some lenses and I'll be pretty much done
-
I'm also 5' 8", and I think Lou is too? Mine used to reach my belt until I took a bit off at the top so it could sit higher. And doing this mod, I took just over an inch off the bottom. It seems about right now Good luck modding your chestplate
-
Ok so I took a big scary dremel to my chestplate: Not too sure about the shape yet, it still looks FX at the edges, I didn't do much more than make it shorter so it stopped covering up the buttons. I'll fiddle with it later and get it neatened up. I don't have a hobby iron thing yet so I can't put the edge back for a while, but there's no rush
-
I bet when did you order yours?
-
There are a few threads around here where people have documented their helmet builds, they're the closest I've seen to instructions. They'll be what I use My AP lid should be getting here soooon.. I've not had any tracking info yet so I dunno when it'll be. I ordered mine on July 4th.. shouldn't be too long
