  1. lol, no worries, i ll appreciate them more when i work on your armor... plus nobody had them in town and i would have had to order them and pay shipping and bla bla bla and wait after canada post...so might as well bite the bullet and pay the price and hope for the best.... about my kit, the odd thing is that it went from your home all the way back to chicago ( according to the tracking ) instead of just crossing at sarnia to go to toronto...real weird..package went backwards almost a full state before going forward again... canada post on our side are still doing rotational strikes...and they said they are thinking of dropping delivery at 3 days a week because they said since they started their shananigans mail coming in dropped by 50% and they cannot afford people being paid for doing nothing. frankly a lot of people dont give a rat's behind for them anymore..they are well paid like close to 25$ an hour for some and they still complain and i think they would completely lose face if they do a full strike..government would intervene and force them back to work... plsu people would switch to private courriers which is already happening... hopefully my "kit" will dodge all the bullets on its way and arrive soon...hehehhe. now i got tons of research to do to build this new piece of kit now...i felt kinda useless after finishing my helmet...no purpose in life... another challenge await...
  2. looking for videos tutorials, can anyone point me to them?
  3. i found some at local michael's, hope they do the trick, paid like 21$ for them birds.... brand: fiskars curve scissors
  4. yes that is what i am gonna do, but the chase is about the information...and satisfaction of knowing what was used to make the suits. i probably would not have the money to buy a pair of those shoes anyways.
  5. well your armor is so cool i want to do it the same way....hope you dont mind me stealing the pic...a picture is worth a thousand words and your pics are the best!
  6. thanks guys, i ll see if i can find one of those in town...
  7. need suggestions on a good pair of scissors that can cut my armor without damaging it..any ideas?
  8. i want to use the bracket system just like the original suit.. bracket sale
  9. i told you it ends up being a money thing... and just to drive the point. just because i know that Gino as some super nice helmet does not mean i would buy them or can afford them. this is an example... or just because si-man has a suit now it does not mean i can buy or a graflex for that matter or buy the original 12 cards of the original movie. it is more of a matter of completing your knowledge to me more than anything else. to understand the magic or what was used to make up those suits. just like the mystery of the origin of the hovi mix tips...but rest assured that if i ever find this out i ll share the info with the fine people here. as for the boots i ll buy some tk boots or ca bots if worse comes to shove... troop along, c mon troop along! the dude said....
  10. it is real unfortunate that the ones in the know do not seem to want to share this information... i know that the thread about this irritated a few people and turned out nasty, I thought that had been resolved and someone actually came forward with the revelation... the " well i have spent years chasing this out and it involved hard work, so you have to do the same thing if you want to find out" jive talking does not roll with me and goes out against the motto of the FISD. unless a source exists but with very few items available left, i dont see the point of letting this information sit in the dark unless there is a pile of money involved that is...money can turn some cool people into nasty people because of greed. The people doing this just plain look bad...i know if i ever found out anything special about the suit, i would share it without hesitation.. Look at si-man who decided to share his treasure, he could have kept this to himself, sell it to a private collector for tons of cash, but instead he decided to share with the community and in the process making some money out of it but he is doing it the right way and making a lot of people real happy! dont want to preach but that is how i see this since this is still a mystery...
  11. HI, Was rereading a thread where one of the members claimed to have found out the brand of the boots that was used, but he never wanted to tell ( as far as i understand ) the brand of the boots. did anyone found out? many people said they were on to something but the thread just died and no one really got an answer... not from what i understood anyways. whats funny is that my father used to wear something that looked similar to those chelsea boots but with a zipper on the side rather than elastics ( probably a real common thing ) ...i thought they were not really comfortable when i tried them when he had them...he had those for the longest time too... peace....
  12. HI all, i was wondering if anyone would know the distance between the strap tying system as shown below...i need to gather where they go how wide they are etc to i can place them properly when i get my suit. I borrowed a pic from Stephen's TM armor to show you what i mean. Hope he does not mind. i will also ask questions about the snap system placement. thanks cheers!
  13. this is like collecting sports cards, you need the complete set... but stunts are more prominent and cool... heros are like the fake stormtroopers( so to speak) you want to be the real deal bad a$$ dude when you get your first kit so most people will get a stunt kit... i have my stunt for now...later i might get a hero and ROTJ helmet.... seems to me that ATA helmets make great helmets for the ESB look because of the way the eyes are moulded. Hopefully ATA will get a hero faceplate some day and i ll get one... but for now just having one is like a dream come true for this fanboy! cheers!
  14. Hi all, i have seen a few pics of the archive. Is it something someone can access or is it jsut randome pictures that people pic up from time to time... cheers
  15. no worries man your helmet is looking great...their look is just the luck of the draw, almost impossible to be on the money all the time...my helmet has a gap between the faceplate and the cap but you know what, many helmets are like that in anh and the esb... it takes a lot of practice to build a helmet. i made so many mistakes on my helmet it is insane but i got out of them all the time and pretty proud of my own helmet. on assembly it is a gut feeling all the time...that is why these things are fun to build....
  16. i bought some e-6000 at a local craft shop but it does not have to be absolutely e-6000 first time i opened it up the fumes reminded me of testors model glue....since then the darn cap is stuck so i ll have to buy some more.. there is a ton of brand of glue out there that probably perfom as better as e-6000... today i carved out the area for the cocking handle...a little bit trcikier to do though but same idea, i drilled holes then i filed them up..the only caveat is that if you start in the front where there groove shows this is where the speaker is for your gun, you have to be carefull not to damage it...other then that...pretty smooth sailing on that part...the gf has the camera with her but when she is back i ll post some pics to show what i mean...
  17. i sanded the letfover from the rail with my model files, you can buy a file kit for 12$ all you really need is a fine flat file and you' ll be able to do anything, the model one work best because they are small and easy to use....i ll post more pics as i go....
  18. what would be the ultimate icing on the cake would be to see the real original molds used for the movie. but saying that no helmet is definitive , i respectfully disagree with Paul, a lot of people as read on the rpf seem to want to jump on the si-man helmet as they have been led to believe that they have reached the promised land on this one.
  19. well my main reasoning was that as paul showed us above the helmet on gino's v2 is bumpy in the front... example but if you check this page, i see nowhere near as much bumps on the front of the helmets as the gino pic above....not the weird looking scratches, the bumps mind you... now that leaves us with the question: if the helmet is bumpy on the inside, should it not have been cast on the outside instead? and no Gino i am not attacking you. id rather everyone get along but at some point this debate will have to be settled now a lot of people think that the si-man helmet is the new benchmark to go by so if all the other cap and back are wrong and they are in many ways then everyone is gonna lose their business per say... Gino, ATA and everyone else in between i dont mention... peace and no i am not trying to establish a new order as myself supreme emperor of the new galactic empire...
  20. Hi Paul, I know that there some bumps as i have looked at many photos and was able to pinpoint some bumps and dents that show up in the same places on the cap and faceplate...but is it real promounced on the si-man helmet? from the photos i have seen so far the surface looks " somewhat" smooth. would you agree then that the paint accentuates the bumps a lot or is more of a side effect than anything else. i guess si-man may have eliminated the bumps while casting his helmet...memory fuzzy on this one though... just curious...
  21. why? i thought that helmet was in Empire? it cant get any more accurate than that....
  22. mmmm ....when i read the requirements, the more it goes int the list the more it seems that you are trying to get the accurate screen look... i guess i am misreading the intent of the list of requirements..so if i take your word then there could possibly be another level above centurion...that of complete and 100% screen accurate achievements...probably impossible to achieve but who knows...
  23. I get the original idea that you want the helmets to look like they were meant to be back then, but i have seen some people on the RPF.com trying to go above and beyond on this with the si-man helmet...after reading a thread on the helmet and suit i made a thread where i discussed the pros and cons of trying enough and trying to much to reproduce the helmets and the fact that you cannot reproduce the helmets as they are or were , just emulate them and i got a nice kinda kick in the ____ section response on that... the guys wanted to reproduce everything from the color of the plastic used in the helmet up to the kind of plastic used to make them and i made it clear to them that we are not in 1976 anymore and that you will not be able to reproduce the helmet in the way they wanted to reproduce it and they got dissed and slapped me in the face so i let the conversation go at that point... but the bumps are another issue if you ask me....the bumps are common on most kits and it is a feature that i think should be talked about.... to answer another point you made John, are you doing this for you or everybody else? I got my helmet now and i dirtied it up to look like it had seen a bit of battle, yes it is nice to make it look cool for others who know star wars but are not complete hardcore fans...but i did it for myself not for joe on the side curb who thinks i look cool in the helmet or suit... and for the sake of accuracy and if we go with the badge requirements on this site it would be nice to know where people stand on this... the centurion program seem to be the program where you would go way above and beyond in terms of accuracy for the movies...
  24. I am no expert at all, i am just saying that looking at the si-man helmet now versus what some people are selling and claiming as pretty much the real deal as far as accuracy it does not ad up.... maybe some people who are actually making the Cap N back's can shed some light on this... and case in point i remember that the hero helmets are not reaaly bumpy in the movie because they did not need paint ( correct me if i am wrong) so the bumpy caps are the results of the paint and other stuff i mentionned before....
