  1. yes we ll have to wait for the armor but these are interesting times... i wonder why Lucas never went ahead and offered accurate replicas of their kits, they have the money to do that and they know there is a market for it. Maybe George just wants people to work for it and achieve a awesome goal when it is said and then instead of having have it dropped in your lap because you have cash...that is the only reason i could see him not come up with a replica....
  2. on number 4 does that side close with only a snap.... ( the opposite side where there are six brads , rivets) also visual examples of all 5 points would be great, thanks guys... i wanna build a screen accurate strapping system, that is why... i have seen many examples here but more info the better as always....
  3. Late on this one... But Rolf you deserve a Freaking Medal for this one...and in one post, you have answered a lot of assembly question i had about the original strapping system without knowing it. cheers Mate!
  4. yep and went and saw 4 rivets on some screen caps....for Han i thought it was just Luke because of the Grappling hook belt kit, but i guess Han is too...so Hero it is...confirmed as they say!
  5. from their face book page... cool story! ROB'S STAR WAR-DROBE IS GOING DOWN A STORM MODEL maker and sci-fi enthusiast Rob McCormick hit the jackpot after discovering an original Star Wars Storm Trooper costume. Rob McCormick from Droylsden, came across the £200,000 suit after a chance encounter on an internet forum for model makers. The highly-sought after costume had been hidden away in a Warrington attic for more than 30 years. The discovery led to Rob and costume owner Simon Windus forming prop making company RS Promasters. Rob said: “Simon was given it when he was about 12-years-old and he’s had it in his loft for the last 30 years.†The duo formed RS Propmasters when Simon approached Rob to restore the costume on an internet forum. Rob and Simon decided to cast moulds from the original costume to make copies to sell to Star Wars fanatics. Rob said: “It’s taken us around six months to make moulds from the costume. You’ve got to be very careful with something that valuable.†While many would be satisfied with plaster moulds the value of the suit means Rob and Simon have had to spend hours painstakingly casting the suit in specialist resins and silicones. If the value of the costume wasn’t enough to worry about Rob and Simon are having to pioneer their methods because no one has cast moulds from an original suit before. But their efforts have proved worth it and now the pair are moving to a studio in Stockport to pursue their prop making business full time. Fans of Star Wars will pay between £500 and £1,000 for a replica storm trooper costume. Rob said: “Once we’ve created the moulds we should be able to make a costume once a week. “The real scoop for us is that the costume is from when they were filming A New Hope between 1976 and 1977. “We reckon it was discarded in a skip at Elstree Studios after they finished filming.†As a business RS Promotions is growing quickly but its roots are firmly based in charity. Rob started model making after being invited to a Hyde Fundraisers event three years ago. The former graphic design student initially started to paint models before embarking on replica costume making. The storm trooper costumes will be sold to members of the 501st Legion Stars Wars fan club. Members of the 501st use their replica costumes for charity events which raise millions of pounds for charity worldwide. For 38-year-old Rob, a member of generation X-Wing, Star Wars is the focus but his skills are in demand. He said: “We’ve already been approached by one film maker and we’re interested in anything horror or sci-fi based. “We’d really love to make a replica Dr Who Cyberman costume if we could get permission of the BBC.†For more information on the work of RS Propmasters visit their website
  6. Hi all, to avoid posting too many topics, i ll ask my questions in one post.. i am looking for screen accurate answers, not modded way to do the strapping system... 1) anyone here selling gaffer tape ? the real deal...looking for some for my upcoming armor. wanna hide the thumb print in the bicep, just like in the movie... 2) is the 4 rivets holding the holster only on Luke? i have not seen proof of otherwise so far.... 3) would need to see pics of the shoulder strap system and how it is put together step by step. 4) how does the ab part tie up on both sides of the abs plate, need visual example... 5) battery pack and sniper plate why not glue a small bolt on the insides of the battery pack, drill in the shin and assemble the bolt? no one seems to be sure if it is glued or riveted yet...( i think )
  7. lol, i can buy brads Galore here....i ll trade a box for a...let's say....a e-11 repro! staples has them...not hard to find at all and they sell them in boxes of 100's....
  8. ok folks, i have watched the garbage compactor scene in super slow mo... a few fun facts...when Han falls he has a big white stripe running in his crotch..probably to protect his fall... a few seconds after he gets up and for a few moments his ab plate is over his chest piece...funny... when Luke gets up after getting caught by the dianoga beast you can clearly see that his belt has no grappling hook...so technically he could not have swung over the chasm....funny.. here is the nail in the coffin now... the brad is unpainted! at least that part can be verified...ok it is on the hero/stunt suit but it confirms it in my book....
  9. well i thought some UK people would have receive theirs already since they are closer to the source..if anyone here is from there and actually bought one....
  10. i have seen an archive pic where it shows a bunch of suit with no painted brads but to me it just looks odds to not paint them...i ll have to look at the movie and see if i can get a shot of the well...mmmm you know what....
  11. lol, i should call Harrison or Mark on this..i am sure they remember the brand....ahahahahahha...let me check my rollodex.....
  12. yes but then again that is debatle too... i dont think the guys would have put black spots there....
  13. same here i thought they were unpainted but if you look at one of the si-man suit photo, the brad is painted, maybe the original six TD's had their bottom parts painted... would be interesting to clarify this myth... image i ma talking about look at the cod piece...
  14. yep, i have read the thread, looks interesting... this is why i made this thread, i thought some people had got theirs already... curious how it is going to turn out... hope for the best for the buyers! so the helmet was made of ABS? green ABS? am i getting this right?
  15. hi all, i know some fans have bought his helmet...if you got one, can you tell us about it?
  16. hi all, does anyone know if the brad and cod snaps were painted white on the anh suits? cheers!
  17. I have to question the find that Paul did....I have looked at a screen cap of the movie where Han lays back in the control room where they are discussing wheat to do after Ben leaves and you can see clear as day that his boots ( at least his) have a very distinct sole pattern. Armed with that pattern image i went to ebay and found some close calls but never the real deal... the closest that came up was some loakes mitchum as i looked for leather soles...and the loakes did not even have a pattern at the bottom... Ok if we rely on the 1095 number then you can get a match for that but (correct me if i am wrong) but the number may have matched but the sole did not.... maybe my memory is bad on this...but some stuff did match and some did not... i know this is gonna stir some other debate but until we know the brand for sure and have an identical match with proof, any chelsea shoes could be called a star wars stormtrooper boot if you ask me... let the rumble begin.... p.s if i am wrong ill eat my words and my helmet ahahahahahah original thread... original trooper boots found
  18. looks like you are correct, it looks like the mic tips have been painted inside except the nipple part at the bottom. another helmet that people debated on was the move along helmet...some people were saying that it had black insides but after some research it seems that the grills of the mic tip had been painted black instead of being aluminium colored which gave the impression that the inside of the mic was black.... there is no good picture of the mic tips as far as i know, i guess people never really bothered to pay close attention to them..kinda sad in a way because they is so much variations of them...i guess each was as unique as every helmets that they assembled to... peace
  19. Stars wars helmet said that some helmets may have had the legit real deal tips while most of them had some kind of resin cast or something. The inside of the tips are white so it is highly improbable that the tips would be silver. Like it said it is a visual trick… The gloss paint on the exterior of the mic, the insides being white, the mesh on the tip being silver and the combination of the flash makes it look like it was silver which may have been the intention all along. Keith Mic tips are the best example of what mic tips are and what they may look like when you paint them properly… Also have a look at what I did…. ---------
  20. white, it is just the effect of the flash doing this and also the fact that gloss paint seemed to have been used to paint the mic tips so it is an eye perception trick that is happening... there is no evidence of them being any other color than black and white, nobody here as ever disputed this fact so the chances are slim that they would be of some silverish type color. my 2cents
  21. Hi guys, just some questions about TK boots. Are they of good quality as advertised? i wear size 10 Canadian i did some research and i think this is the same size in US, is that correct? how long did it take to get your pair of boots? are they really narrow at the toe section or bearable after break in time? how long did it take for them to send them to you? is the sole slippery? i have seen the tracks under them but is the sole gripping well? do they warranty their work? i ask here because it is better to get information from buyers than the actual seller most of the time... thanks
  22. HI Guys, when you glue the strapping to your parts when you build your armor, how much e6000 should you put , i know it is a weird question but you want to avoid spills when the parts are squeezed together... any tips or tricks on that one? i have read many threads but so far i have not read anything on the quantity of glue you should put on... thanks
  23. guys, can we cut the sarcasm?... sometimes it is better to ask a resource person for something specific than wasting time on dead end searches or google. Remember at one point you were in my shoes!
