  1. When my kit arrived I'd looked at the 5 digit list and set my heart on one particular number. Closer to the end of my build I looked again and that one had been taken so I had to have a rethink.

I considered using my birth date but it didn't look visually appealing. I have always liked Ambigrams so I decided on something with a rotational symmetry.

Since Bill & Ted's Excellent "Sixty-Nine Dude!" makes me laugh (coupled with the fact I'm a bit of a cheeky chappie) the number I picked, and was subsequently issued with, fits me perfectly. :)

    Si.

I keep telling my hubby (soon to be a trooper) that he needs to find a number. He, of course, is cheeky too! He wants one similar to yours. And, a few years ago our teenager son had messed up his cell phone, and when his dad called the cell phone company they wanted the pin number. Well, we had company over playing cards and our teenager had to tell us in front of everyone that his pin # was "6969" and then he quickly told his dad "It's just a random number" Needless to say all of us adults giggled for hours on end (the beer might have been to blame, too) and the teenager didn't show his face again the rest of the night. So, now about once a week we still repeat the line: "It's JUST a random number!" We're awful parents... but we have fun. Stay cheeky my friend!

  2. So how come he was selling these kits before his wife passed? I distinctly remember this ebay ad popping up once before.

I don't know. Sorry. Nobody's perfect. Can't we turn this into a "Hey - we're the FISD.. and we'll help whoever buys these less than perfect suits into a 501st approvable suit. We want to help, cause it's all about Troopers helping Troopers."

  3. His wife, Mandy just passed away and they both bought lots of these FX suits to work on, but now I believe he needs to pay for funeral expenses and I believe he does have permission from the person he bought all the FX suits from to sell them. You guys didn't know, so don't feel bad.. but I think we should cut him some slack. It's a tough time for him. Let me find the link... and I'll post it.

I was looking through the Bloodfin Garrison, but I think if you guys/girls want more info, best talk to Mark Ryner ... CAPTSAFE66. He won't mind, and I think he'd prefer to set the record straight. It's all so sad. I think Mandy was 37 and I know the have children.

  4. I glued mine and my hubby's forearms and thighs. It use to take me 25 really looong and sweaty minutes to get mine on by myself. I've gotten better and now it's about 10 - 15 sweaty minutes. No matter what I'm sweating just suiting up. Maybe the really HOT summer was part of that last year. I pretty much follow what Derrek does on his checklist.

  5. Wow, thanks for the warm welcome! I live in Knoxville, so know the Gatlinburg Pigeon Froge area all too well :). I've spent quite a bit of time today just trying to get the feel for how things work around here, so as not to be "one of those guys" lol. I'm hoping to get started on an E11 soon (I have a predator suit that's almost done) and am sure there will be plenty of questions along the way. Thank you all again, I'm really diggin' the vibe here!

    Brian

PREDATOR?!!! DANG! So awesome :) Hey, we were all one-of-those-guys before.. so you are fiiiiiine. :smiley-sw013:

No pressure, but I'm nominating YOU ~ BRIAN to organize a Stormtrooper (and Predator, too - what the heck)

RALLY sometime in the Fall in Gatlinburg starting this year. No pressure.... just let me know when to show up.

Kidding!!! I bet there already IS something like that and I need to look at the Tenn Garrison website.

    Have fun looking around.

  6. Greetings Brian!

It can be alot to see at 1st - but we try to make it as FUN as possible and we share your EXCITEMENT over all things armor. Looks like you are making yourself at home and that is GOOD. Feel free to ask questions and we will point you in the right direction. BTW.. I love your state and try to get down to Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge once a year. I know it's touristy, but we love the Mts and shopping and all the gawdy Christmas lights, too. :)

  7. Just an update: I Am now officially on the books as a cadet in Garrison Carida!

Congrats Bill! Hope you are finding all the info you need and then some on fisd! :) Feel free to ask questions, we don't mind. Hey - post some pics of your Batman - cause we really really really LOVE pictures!!! Most of us sneak away from real work and logon here to put a smile on our faces when the boss isn't standing over our shoulders. Course, some of us probably logon even WITH the boss standing over our shoulders!

  8. Welcome Graham!

We try to act like a family that gets along.

tee heee heee.... Just kidding! The motto is

Troopers helping Troopers, and they really do

try to do just that. We get excited about blasters

and amor, too so you are in the right place.

Congrats on your purchases. You will have so much

fun when you get out there trooping, and also now

on your build. You might get a bit frustrated, but

then you can compare armor building stories with

your new pals in your garrison. There's nothing

as fun as bonding over stories of plastic and straps

    and snaps and glue!

  9. Thanks you all.

Well searching this forum has led me to placing myself on a wait list for some White Armor.

Jazzed to death and looking forward to getting it put together once I receive it!

Picked up an Ep3 Clone Trooper Helmet to put finish and paint in the mean time.

Have some picks of the progress(read slow) on my blog.

    YES!

Congrats Greg! Yer gonna love your armor!!!

  10. ALBERTA! AWESOME! CHARITY! AWESOME! TK! AWESOME! BEING 41! AWESOME! AP ARMOR! AWESOME!

I forgot what else I like about your post... but WELCOME TO FISD, ROB!

I completely agree - and Ingrid is also AWESOME! :) I'm getting ready to turn 40-1-derful - just like yourself and lots of my pals on FISD. You're never too old, so don't even worry about that. As I like to tell my hubby "IT'S FOR CHARITY" After you have purchased all the things that go with armor, there's still MORE. :) Have you started your cheap stormtrooper tee shirt obsession, yet? Muuu waaaaa haaaaaa haaaaa...... You'll be pulled in before you know it. It's fun, though! Glad you have your AP on the way. CONGRATS!
